For a Relaix & Chateau Hotel, this property does not necessarily live up to expectations given compared to other R&C hotels. We stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely stay. The location of the hotel is perfectly between the lake and the beach, with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the lake as the star feature of the hotel. We booked a view lake suite, which did have a lovely view and terrace however the room itself was very small, particularly the bathroom, and there were no coffee making facilities which were needed as on all three mornings there were no staff around before 9am to make a coffee in the main area so we ended up going into town to get one. The staff in the hotel were not particularly attentive and did not explain the facilities of the hotel or surrounding area which for the price of hotel I would have expected as other R&C hotels/hotels of the same room rate are normally very attentive and wanting to go the extra mile. The restaurant staff in the fine dining restaurant were however excellent, very charming, and the food was delicious.

This hotel used to be one of the nicest I’d ever visited. All of the charm, elegance and space has been ripped out and turned into a cramped, generic hotel experience. Past visitors to this hotel will break their hearts when they see the renovation - especially the outside areas. The infinity pool is gone, the luxurious tiled pool area replaced with cheap decking and crowded tables and loungers. The old shower is gone too. Prices are also much higher but it’s hard to see the justification. Other hotels in the region will benefit as a result because the best hotel in town has made some very strange decisions in their recent renovation.

My husband & I recently stayed here. It is the loveliest hotel I’ve ever stayed in.....& I’ve stayed in many around the world! Since the renovation, I would say that it “ IS most definitely chic but not stuffy “ and a visual feast inside & outside! It was refreshing to be in such an environment. My kind of heaven! Can’t wait to go back!

I can not evaluate it withuot comparing to the past . We were at this hotel 6-7 times during the past 10-12 years . This hotel had charm , unique style . All these have gone . It is not quite , not cozy. There is no “charme” any more. All these made it very special for us , and was the only reason we came here again and again . We always felt here like visiting a stylish french family’s private villa . Now it is a pricy hotel , similar to hundreds others in the world . New restaurant is not as good as it could be expected for its price level , there are a lot of better places in Hossegor-Capbreton . New design of the rooms is simple , white , nothing special . The new walkway is just at your terrace , zero privacy . No aircondition in the room !!! If you open the terrace door to get some air you are getting the security lamp’s light in your bed . You can read very well but to sleep no chance . Breakfast is at the new restaurant, assortment is good but simple . Earlier it was amazing. Place of new restaurant is nice , no doubt . If you want an omlette you have to pay extra for it ....!!!?????? In the past from terrace you could enjoy the nice view of the lake , with privacy . Now from the terrace you “enjoy” hotels guests walking up and down on the walkway (2-3 meters from you) , restaurant guests and noises , parties at the pool , etc . There is no reason now to be back here . Au revoir Charm , and staff of old Hortensias du Lac ! Thank you for making it so special for so many years !

This was our first visit to Hossegor. The situation of the hotel is fabulous, especially in high season, when Hossegor is really busy, the Hortensias du Lac is on the edge of the lake in a quiet spot, within walking distance of the town, but away from the noise and crowds. The bedrooms are small but immaculate and stylishly decorated. The terrace from our room was fabulous. All the staff are friendly and helpful . The reception and bar area is disappointing, the furniture uncomfortable and whoever put metal seats on a sun terrace.....I got burned the first time I sat on one ! The restaurant service is good, but the cuisine is not as refined as it should be, however the restaurant has just opened and I’m sure this will be rectified. It is definitely a hotel we would return to, for the views alone !
