The Super 8 by Wyndham Bridgeview of Mackinaw City garners mixed reactions, primarily for its prime location near key attractions and rustic charm. However, guests have called out issues with service, including unhelpful staff and maintenance problems. While the proximity to sights is a plus, many travelers find the value lacking, pointing to high prices and outdated rooms. Cleanliness also varies, with some praising the shower quality, yet others lament maintenance and housekeeping shortcomings. Let me start by saying I NEVER leave reviews because I feel people are typically way too picky about hotel rooms. This one though...this needs to be said:
We have stayed at this Super 8 before and we really enjoyed it,but this time, they are using COVID as a cop-out. We paid over $1,000 for two rooms (ajoined) for 3 nights and this is what we got:
* The floor/carpet was gross! I mean gross! We wouldn't even walk to our bathroom with out some kind of shoes on.
* Bathrooms were so/so. Our ajoined room had a clog so bad they had 3 inches of water in the bottom of their tub. We called - they came and fixed it but left a hairball in the tub for us to clean up.
* Remote for TV would not work. Went to front desk - they would not replace the batteries. They said someone had to come to the room. We waited until midnight for them to show! When the didn't show by midnight we went to bed. About 12:30am they knocked on our door! Really?
* DO NOT expect to have your basic cleaning done while you are there. We came back to our room the first day and our beds were not made, no clean towels, no clean sink, etc. We went to front desk to ask for towels and they said "oh yea, with COVID, we are not cleaning rooms until you leave". So, if you are staying for a week, they are not going to clean your room until you leave.
* Finally, the sign in the front yard says "Free breakfast" and "indoor pool". Well folks, no free breakfast and the pool is closed until further notice. I understand we are in the middle of a pandemic and I can go with out the pool, but the rates I paid include a free breakfast. The could at least TRY! Individually wrapped muffins, granola bars, boxes of milk, juice boxes, etc. There are so many things you can do to at least TRY. Or, at the very least, take it off your sign out front!

The only good thing about this place was the view when you walk out to the parking lot. The view of the Bridge is spectacular!

No masks were worn by any staff seen throughout the visit. No signs requiring guests to wear masks were posted. Location to the city and lake, room size, ease of access to the room were positives. Beds did not have fitted sheets rather a top sheet tucked in. The top sheet was short and wouldn’t stay tucked. The wallpaper was peeling all over the suite. The toilet had to be plunged every time it was used. It was over 80° when we checked in and the room ac was not turned on, the room was unbearable. The front desk staff seemed very distracted and you had to get their attention instead of them noticing their guests. The grab and go breakfast was a sorry excuse for a replacement of a continental breakfast.

So we were booked at the other super 8 (down the street)and after refusing to stay there due to filth, they sent us to this super 8 or lose our money. We asked to see a room before we committed and they had to show us 4 rooms before we could pick one that was not scary. This hotel is super dated. It’s furnishings are like the flintstones (large wooden headboards) meets the golden girls comforters and dirty carpet. The shower curtain smelled so bad of spoiled towels (and that’s saying something since I can barely smell) that I wouldn’t let it touch me. The heat lamp in the bathroom had cobwebs in it and didn’t work.
No floor mat to step out of the shower on..just dirty tile. And when the room got cleaned we each got only one towel.
You can hear everyone walking in the hall and running. And the trolley cart to bring your luggage to your room had completely flat tires. Nothing has been maintained.
We checked out early 😬

We checked in in 7/13/2020 and stayed 2 night against my better judgement. lobby gross needs a good cleaning was told when we made our reservation the pool was open and free breakfast was served. WELL LIES ALL LIES no pool but was told i could go to the other hotels in area to use their pool well if i could go to another hotel for their pool why wasn't this pool open and other hotels were serving breakfast so why wasn't this hotel. rooms were dirty beds very uncomfortable when going to speak to the Manager he was rude very under dressed for being the so called manager torn t shirt huge chain around his neck while mind you the other staff members looked very professional so why wast the so called manager. Room was never cleaned they have a sign posted in lobby stating rooms cleaned daily they never even came to the room once, the only reason i booked this place was because threw booking site was told pool is open breakfast open i have children and it was the worst experience for them not being able to swim. i will never never never stay at any super 8 again try to get a discount or refund manager just laughs in your face. and we wear required to wear face masks but no in the hotel staff was why is that.
and out front of the hotel was there sign stating pool open free breakfast when my husband asked the so called manager about changing the sign for false advertisement. the manager said we dont have to change anything we tell you when you check in well if i would of known this from the beginning i would of never stayed here.

We booked 4 nights and only ended up staying one because we had a Spectrum employee trying to get into our room. But when we first came in, the receptionist literally said “NO ONE is allowed in the rooms unless you require cleaning due to COVID” and when we called for a needed refund, the management at the hotel lied and said “we did tell them about room entering” but they lied to the 3rd party booking company because they told us NO ONE could just walk into our room. We could’ve been in there for all they knew, the young ones could’ve been exposed to some guy with a keycard to our room. Extremely horrible hotel experience.

This was supposed to be a family vacation for my moms 63 birthday. Firstly we arrive to the hotel not properly greeted . The front desk attendant starts rambling about how the hotel pool wasn’t available! Which i would’ve have booked with this hotel had i known the pool offered upon booking wasn’t open . She then states how we can use the pool at another hotel down the road . Too tired to go we head to our room.Rooms way smaller than advertised! So my mom offered to rent a cot for the stay, they ended up charging my card instead of the card she gave them . Next morning we head to the pool they informed we could use i stopped the housekeeping lady and asked if our room could be cleaned before we return she informed not her room but will let the housekeeper over our floor know. Now we head to pull they informed us we were supposed to sign a waiver at the other hotel and most of what she told us was inaccurate so instead of sending us back she called the hotel and let us sign the waivers there . Also misinformed us about the ferry cost and how we had to purchase tickets at hotel for cheaper tickets. I asked the manager why wasn’t we notified all these things he goes i don’t know do you want to buy tickets for the ferry still .. no apology for confusion. So i purchased the tickets also didn’t tell me everything closes on the island in a hour so when we got there we could’nt really enjoy the attractions because again everything was closing . So 80$ wasted . Get back to the room only for it to be in the condition we left it , i called down to front seat they informed we only provide fresh towels until check out and the housekeeper who was assigned to our room left for the day . hands down the worst hotel experience EVER i will never book again with you guys unless some miracle happens !

False advertisement on free breakfast and pool, dirty rooms & bathrooms, unfriendly staff, smelly hallways. The staff did not ask how my stay was. I found out that there was hidden fees such as $20/night for a roll away that was old as dirt. The website and sign out front of the hotel spoke of free breakfast buffet and pool open, but due to Covid they could not accommodate (other hotels in the area had open pools and free breakfast. The rooms smelled of mold. There was trash from the previous guest in the bathroom.

Definitely worth $75-95/night. (I paid $150/night)

My wife and I stayed here and highly enjoyed it. Ashley and Suzia greeted us the moment we walked in. We were some of many checking in and neither of the ladies got flustered. Ashley told us about the many attractions in the area and about the discount tickets we could purchase right at the hotel. Suzia gave us a great tip on a place to eat where we would get 10% off. They told us about so many amenities that we almost couldn’t remember everything. We were given an upgrade at a decent rate to a room with a great view of the bridge where we sat out at night and in the morning to drink our coffee and enjoy the view. Our room was clean, spacious for my wife and I and the beds were fit to our comfort. We will return again. New destination spot and who doesn’t like a quiet area.

dirty rooms, very disgusting, peeling wallpaper, dirty floors, kids running around behind the desk eating.. it's clear they've given up on this property. not being run professionally at all.

we had booked a hot tub room at this hotel, but tried to cancel due to covid, we were told by a lady at the front desk that we would be charged regardless. the room was $288.56 and we didn't want to lose that much money, so we went anyway.

upon checking into the room I went immediately to the hot tub to check if it was working and it was not, i called the front desk about a refund, they agreed.. HOWEVER they charged my card again and did a refund on that charge while the initial charge still remains, I showed them that they messed up, the guy was arguing with me saying it wasn't charged twice, but it was.. as I was walking out the door he then proceeded to say "leave, we don't want your kind here anyways"

bottom line is this... they knew we booked a room with a non functioning hot tub at a hot tub room premium, and when we asked for a refund over the phone, they immediately billed my card, and billed me again while trying to get a refund.. so why not just offer a refund on the phone if you know the hot tub is NOT working???

this hotel is sketchy, and it shows why they're being this way once you see the inside. it won't let me give less than 1 star unfortunately.

The room we stayed in smells like mold, is damp, and the carpet is old and very dirty. We did not take off our shoes in the room. Linens smelled musty. There were dark stains on the ceiling. Only one small trash can in the bathroom. The walls, door, flooring, and linens need to be washed thoroughly. Poor lighting.
