On June 11th 2 1we had confirmed paid for hotel reservations made by Reservations.com site at Americas Best Value Inn. It turned out to our intense dismay that Reservations.com had canceled the reservations by mistake and without letting us know! So Americas Best Value Inn had no record of our reservations and had no rooms left and we were in a jam!!! Nothing was available in Mackinaw City that week end but personnel at Americas Best Value Hotel and Great Lakes Inn (sister hotels) worked VERY hard to find us something. They finally found us a spot at the Knights Inn that had just become open and we had a bed for the next two nights !!! Carol Eichman of Knights Inn was outstanding too and went out of her way to help us by working with the personnel of the other two hotels. They made our day!
Have to mention that Reservations.com finally reimbursed us the amount of the reservations they canceled by mistake. It was not a scam but they are just not very efficient and I definitely would not recommend them and will never use them again.

the hotel was very nice. The front desk person was very helpful. I got in a little late not sure if anything was open for food but young lady at the front desk told me of a few place open. I then went to my room it clean and I could notice that they had just put in new countertop and sink. Very well maintaned hotel. the staff was very friendly.

Did not expect much as this an economy hotel. Good points are that the room does come with microwave and refrigerator which was not listed on their website room description. Bathroom recently remodeled but small. However, entire room was not cleaned very well the first day and not at all on our 2nd day there. Front desk did apoligize and gave us some clean towels for our 3rd night. One of the room keys did not work. Beds uncomfortable, not enough pillows.

This was the first time ever traveling with a dog, so maybe my expectations should not be as high as they normally are for a motel. At least the room was good for the dog: There was a back door that led directly to a grassy area. It was a good thing there was another door, because the key card didn't work on the front door, and the physical key only worked on the back door. The room smelled musty when we arrived, and after running the air conditioner constantly it still did, but not quite as bad. There were spiders and earwigs constantly in the room. The shower/tub didn't drain well, so I was ankle deep in water during showering. Something was wrong with the TV, too. We had to get a first floor room, since the dog doesn't do stairs very well, and that meant two queen beds rather than a king room; all of those are on the second floor and there's no elevator. One of the two beds was so soft and spongey it was unusable. The entire building is in need of exterior maintenance, with peeling paint and falling stonework. The continental breakfast consisted of a container of bagels and jars of cream cheese, peanut butter and jelly, a minifridge with yogurt cups, and a coffee pot. If there was anything else, I didn't see it. The location was very good: about two blocks from the large park with the fort and lighthouse, about four or five blocks from several small parks by the water, and about the same to the main street of town with restaurants and shops and the Sheplers boat dock.

This is a detailed account of our disappointing experience at the Knights Inn Mackinaw City. Our room was confirmed for July 26th. On July 26th, at 7:21 pm, the hotel called us to confirm we were still arriving. At 9:51 pm, we called the hotel to update our 10:30 pm eta.
After a 12-hour journey, we arrived at the hotel to find out that our confirmed room had been given away to another family with the same last name. Despite the clerk admitting that he did not check their ID, he woke up the family (without our knowledge) in the room that should have been ours, telling them they had to leave, but they did not move. I personally thought this was insane to ask them to move and confirmed we needed to find an alternative. We were then offered a deluxe suite with a king bed at a discount, which we accepted (even though we knew we would all not get bed space) due to our desperation for a bed and a shower after the long journey. However, we were surprised to find an open shower and jacuzzi in the room, providing zero privacy. To add to our discomfort, my son got locked in the single toilet for 5 minutes. The next morning, I expressed our disappointment to the check-in clerk, that he did not inform us of the open jacuzzi/ shower and he responded, “I know”. I requested a credit for our room. I was told to speak with the manager who would be in later that day. My several attempts to reach her through out the week were in vain. Despite numerous promises and complete run around, there were no return calls. I called again on August 1st and finally spoke with the manager. She offered a free night which was unreasonable. She said she needed to speak with the owner and would call back that same day. It is now 10 days later and no return call.
Overall, the customer service and management at this hotel are horrendous, and it's clear that they do not prioritize the needs and expectations of their customers.

Dear Explore22699344560, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the series of mishaps and the inconvenience you faced during your stay. What you described falls far below the standards we strive to uphold, and we are deeply sorry that your stay was anything less than satisfactory. The mix-up with your reservation and the issues that followed were unacceptable, and we regret that this caused additional stress after your long journey. The situation with the room and the lack of privacy in the suite should have been clearly communicated to you, and we apologize for the discomfort and frustration this caused your family. We also want to apologize for the lack of communication and the delay in addressing your concerns. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we understand how frustrating it must have been to not have your concerns promptly addressed. We are taking your feedback seriously and will be addressing our procedures to ensure this does not happen again. We would like the opportunity to make things right and restore your faith in our hotel. We hope to have the chance to provide you with a much better experience in the future.

We checked in (2 rooms next to each other) and within 2 minutes we had the lady at the front desk in our rooms. First thing I always do wherever I stay is check the bed for bed bugs and cleanliness of linens. There were dead bugs, people's hair, plant life and nasty bodily fluid stains. The sink was also dirty. The other room had urine on the toilet and a dirty sink. The Manager was called in and she tried to tell me my pictures were not of this particular place. She was refusing to refund us our money as she said we were there longer than "20 minutes". Of course we were as we were busy showing them how disgusting it was and trying to find a phone number for corporate. She kept refusing and I informed her pictures are date, time and location stamped and that is when she "voided" our transactions. She was still adamant I made them up. We check our credit card twice a day to ensure she doesn't try to take the money. This place should be shut down.

When we first got to the room we were satisfied, beds were good and things seemed clean. Then we tried to use the shower. We could not get the water on. The part you need to pull to start the shower would not budge and there was no water at all. When we told the person at the front desk he said it pulls hard, that’s a lie it does not pull at all. As we were still talking to him another guest came in and said the same thing happened to them. Also don’t count on breakfast, all I saw was cereal and a gallon of milk.

Dear H2441EKvickil, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm glad to hear that you were initially satisfied with the room and found the beds comfortable and the space clean. However, I’m truly sorry for the frustration you encountered with the shower and the lack of breakfast options. The issue with the shower is concerning, and I apologize for the inconvenience it caused. It's clear that this problem affected more than one guest, and I'm sorry that our front desk staff didn’t provide the assistance you needed. I’ll make sure our maintenance team addresses this issue immediately, and I’ll also follow up with our staff to ensure that they are providing accurate and helpful information to our guests. Regarding breakfast, I'm sorry that the offerings did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide a variety of options to start your day off right, and I’ll be reviewing this with our team to ensure we’re offering a more complete and satisfying selection. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and I appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We hope you’ll give us another opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.

Great staff, nice and friendly. Room was super clean, don’t listen to the bad reviews because you won’t find one here. I personally had coffee with the owners and they take pride in the customer service while keeping the prices as low as they can. You will find your check in easy, and your room nice and clean.

$194 a night!? For a closet sized dump with ratty rags for towels, lumps of coal for pillows, loud drunk neighbors, highway traffic & a tv that barely works and is smaller than the types they use of airplanes!? What a ridiculous waste of my money. $194!? Seriously!? This is not New York this is northern Michigan and I cannot fathom anyone in good conscience charging that much for this little! I stayed at a really nice Knights inn in North Dakota for $60 if it weren’t for most places being booked up (and ofcourse I know your aware) I would have laughed all the way out the office! Never again! Never. Again.
