Easy access, clean room, friendly staff. Bed was low, so hard to stand up from. Bathroom was extremely small. Good shower pressure. Shampoo looked open, so I used my own. Breakfast was a joke, that was one of the reasons I picked the ABVI. Was told breakfast was like that and not in the breakfast room was because the coffee machine was broken and they were waiting on parts. Didn't make sense, but ok. Did receive Casino coupon, so that was nice.

Average on the low side. There were a lot of pillows, but no extra blankets. Bathroom was tight. Funky repairs to the tiling, wish I had taken a pic. Stayed two nights but room was not cleaned at all. In room sign said that they would launder any towels left on the floor. OK. But how can you do that if you don't show up? Good and very busy breakfast but not well organized for traffic flow. Cereal here- bowls over there, that kind of thing.

Aging facility. We immediately found sheets that it looked somewhat like someone had used them. Not as bad as it could be but it raises some doubts. Most of the pillows were awful. We found two that might work. The walls and woodwork are old and show aging.
The water pressure in the shower was good, but the shower wall was about to cave in. The newer insert was not properly mounted to the wall. When using the towels, it was basically exfoliating since no softener has been used to these very old towels.
Don’t stay if you have a choice.

We enjoyed our stay here and the owner/woman at the front desk was very nice and accommodating when we came it her with our concerns. The heater wasn’t working in our room and the mattress was uncomfortable but she quickly moved us to a room with a better mattress and made sure the heater was working. She explained how she is working updating everything in the rooms and knows there are certain areas needing upgrades. It is a great location and lots of parking. It is going to be a different quality with the price range but we still got everything we needed. Nice big heated pool. We got in at night and went to mackinac the next day so didn’t need to spend lots of time in our room. It was worth it for the quick trip.

Unkept property as a whole, from the time you drive in, weeds, pile of gravel, dumpster visible, litter on the grounds ! The outer doors , trim and many rooms around ours also needed paint and brooming! Cobwebs and bugs everywhere , it was daylight when we checked in, not evening when bugs gather !
Then there’s the room ! Carpet dirty and shredded right at the doorway, knicks in the walls, the trim, dirty marks everywhere. Needs painting ! Water marks on the ceiling in the bathroom from leaks I’m sure and the bathroom floor … looked like someone took a hammer to it, it was all chipped up . Cheap over bleached shower curtain. The towels were cheap, small and scratchy. The a/c did not run correctly, it ran shut off, ran shut off , was noisy as well. The only thing in the room that looked brand new was the mini fridge. We thoroughly inspected the bed linens and wore our flip flops the whole time in the room..wouldn’t think of touching the carpet.
We had no choice to leave, would not have received a refund and I wasn’t about to give up $150 bucks. These rooms should be on the $59 dollar a night scale.
Being a chain one would think it would be inspected by corporate!
We are not top shelf hotel stayers but we expect clean, comfortable feeling rooms and this hotel doesn’t fit that description . Do yourself a favor , find another spot to lay your head for the night !

After a long drive, Americas Best Value Inn Mackinaw City was a super place to relax and recharge for the evening. The room was comfortable, spacious, and clean as well as quiet since the building is set away from the main road. The bed was a little soft for our liking but still worked well for a good night's rest. The room had a small fridge, microwave, and small coffee station, to allow one to remain hydrated and comfortable. There is parking in front of each room to allow one a convenient spot to load/unload luggage. As far as we could see there were no eating places within walking distance so we relied on food that we had with us from our journey. The breakfast was simple with cereal, pastries, coffee, and juice which is perfect to start one's day. The hotel staff is helpful, welcoming, and friendly. We only stayed for one night so we did not make use of their pool area but it looked very popular whilst we were there.

We were a group of 8 and this was true for all four rooms. We found the rooms to be smelly with dirty with stained torn carpets. Drawers nailed shut,such a tiny bathroom you can’t even close the door. Our toilet never worked right even after they said it was fixed. Phone never worked so I had to walk to the office. We found nasty lingerie in the bedside drawer. Very few towels or wash cloths and what you had were really thin. Front desk clerk and owner were very unprofessional. Only good thing about the place was the breakfast worker who was very friendly. As a franchise someone needs to do something about this place, we paid way to much for what we got. Stay away.

I stayed at several hotels during the year and this hotel was the best one i thought. The front desk person was very nice and helpful the room was clean and property looked really nice. During my stay I needed assistance I locked myself out of my room I went to the office and they were very helpful. Close town and in walking distances. Breakfast was good they have waffles and a variety of things in the breakfast room. Pool was nice and big.

When my wife and I checked in the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a King Jacuzzi room, the room was very clean and newly remodeled. The breakfast was good we had waffles they have other selections besides waffles. The pool was very relaxing. I would stay here again on our next trip.

I stayed at America's Best Value in Mackinaw City MI the night of 10/12/24-checkout 10/13/24. I had already paid for 2 rooms through a third party. When I checked in, I was asked to pay $83.39 "incidental charges"-in case I left the room in very poor repair. I paid that amount with my debit card. I left the room in very good shape, but was never refunded the $83.39. When I got home, there were 2 charges to my debit card-one for the $83.39 and another charge of $108.00-and both those charges were to an AMERICAN Best Value in Tawas City MI. There is no AMERICAN Best Value and I have never been to Tawas City. Fortunately, I was able to cancel my debit card before the $108.00 was charged to my account. However, the $83.39 was paid to the bogus hotel. I called Sonesta Guest Relations last week and they opened a case. Called back to check status and they had closed my case! I now have a new case opened-
I will never stay at another America's Best Value and I'm not inclined to stay at any Sonesta hotel unless I am refunded my $83.39.
