This was a nice place to stay. They are very accommodating especially during the Covid 19 days. They brought a breakfast basket to your room each day with blueberry muffins, coffee and orange juice. The rooms are small but each has a movie theme which made it fun and unique.

The room had everything we needed and the location was really convenient to the other things we wanted to do. I was excited about staying at a "boutique" hotel but I felt like some of the themed furniture in the "Bed of Roses" room took up too much space in the small room especially the cute wicker chairs by the table. The muffin in the "grab & go" breakfast was good. There was plenty of counter space by the sink and that was located outside the toilet/tub room.
No elevator and no 1st floor room was available when we arrived. There wasn't room to have 2 open suitcases as there is in most hotels we stay at. There was one chest with 2 drawers and the top one couldn't be used at all; it fell right out of the chest when I opened it because the track was completely broken. The shower head couldn't be moved at all to change the direction of the spray. The TV was on the small side and located in the corner.

We stayed in the room decorated as "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Each poster and detail of the decor was carefully chosen, delightful, and comforting! Outside were bountiful flowers, a fountain, an 88-degree swimming pool, and views of both the bridge and Lake Huron. Across the street was a park along Lake Huron with a path under the bridge and over to the Lake Michigan side of the park. The hosts were helpful with dining recommendations. We enjoyed our bag breakfast (because of COVID) sitting on the colorful lawn chairs by the fountain with views of Lake Huron between the houses across the street. So lovely!

I meticulously plan for vacations. I submitted my reservation for 2 nights for a themed Deluxe room with 2 extra long full size beds. The reservation was confirmed by the hotel. When I arrived, they only had me in for one night. I was informed there was no room for me the 2nd night because they were booked. And turns out they booked me in a room with only one bed - with no cost adjustment. I had my printed reservation and confirmation, but that didn’t matter. They made a mistake and this is 100% on them. The guy at the desk did kindly find me an other room at another hotel for the 2nd day, but we didn’t want to have to drag all of our stuff to check out and check into another hotel. They did refund what I had paid and we found another hotel for both nights (in retrospect we should have sucked it up since we had to more than double the cost to find a room on a weekend in July 🙁). The hotel seemed cute, but the room wasn’t even all that cool or fun - I don’t really consider a movie poster a theme. If you want to know you have a room, this is not the place for you.

We read reviews of so many hotels and found most of them to be poor. This one was the exception. It was booked for the weekend we initially wanted but it was worth the wait. It was very clean and the pool was crystal clear and 88 degrees. The beds were exremely comfortable with very nice linens and pillows. They apparently usually have a breakfast bar but with covid we enjoyed a basket of muffins, juice and coffee delivered to our door in the morning. We enjoyed the view of the lake from our window and the walkway on the 2nd floor which overlooked the pool and the pretty landscaping around the motel. There were nice places to sit outside and the public beach across the street was great for the kids to hunt rocks and play in the sand. Don't bother with the big chains and their bad reviews. We would stay here again.

I booked this motel because it had goods reviews (my main concern being cleanliness) and was a decent price. It. Was. TERRIBLE.
The room smelled very musty and there were dead bugs stuck to the lamp shades, blinds, and walls. There was a foot print mark left on the door, as well as other various scuff marks on the walls. The decorative curtain valance was covered in dust and there were cobwebs in various areas of the room. My family and I slept in the room for one night (was booked for three) and I woke up very congested. I can only assume it was from the dirty air conditioner and room.
My family and I ended up staying somewhere else.

Room booked online wasn't available upon arrival, thus, we were "upgraded" to a water view room (minimal water view). The room was clean but in serious need of upgrading. Super tiny bathroom with extremely old fixtures. Our room must have been located in the original part of the hotel as the other couple we traveled with had a much nicer room with a larger bathroom.
The outdoor space was nice with a small pool and seating but didn't use it as we were only there for one night and spent the day on the island. Easy shuttle ride or walk to the ferry (1/2 mile) with restaurants also within a 1/2 mile walking distance.
Overall, the nightly rate ($209) seemed a bit high but all hotels in the area were also just as expensive with a similar rating.
Note: if you have mobility issues, be sure to ask for a first floor room as there is no elevator.

We were so fortunate to find this hotel. Not only is it reasonable priced but is has a great location. Literally in two minutes a visitor can reach two pocket parks on the straits to enjoy the water, take in the breeze and watch the bridge at sunset. By walking a block, visitors can access the historic light house and fort.
The building is in impeccable shape. The pool is especially clean and the grounds have many gardens and a fountain that guests enjoy in the chairs provided.
The rooms are all themed and done with care and detail. All the supplies were top rate and we enjoyed the decorating. This building dates back a few decades and although parking and access are excellent, there is no lobby or gathering room. Therefore the breakfast is a take away box with muffin, fruit, etc.

We travel quite often and always love when we find an old motel that someone gave a whole lot of thought and love to!! This place should definitely be considered, 100%!! We’re staying on a Sunday in early June, it’s peaceful, clean, quiet AND in a great location. Definitely stay here!

Charming and rustic hotel. A retro feel to hotels. Room was very clean but not big. Bathroom needs be updated. Each room has its own AC window in unit which is difficult to maintain a comfortable tempt and is noisy. Breakfast was part of the booking and is a grab bag that must be taken to the room. Luggage had to be carried up stairs to 2nd floor.

They have ground level rooms ... just ask for one.
I don't believe they are pet friendly. Best to call.
Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, coffee, juice, bagels, toaster
Looking at their web site I believe pets are NOT allowed. I also checked Trip Advisor for this American Boutique and found that also said no pets allowed. If I were you though I would call to confirm just in case their policy has changed but web sites have not been updated.
