We stayed here looking for a waterpark for the kids that wasn’t crowded. I was disappointed the water park was only open 2-10. We stayed one night and checked in at 5:30, so we didn’t get much use of it. It needed some repairs anyway, many broken pieces and a cracked slide. The room was large, but the bathtub and sink had hair in them that i needed to clean and the toilet had dried urine on it. The kitchenette had nothing in it, not even disposable coffee cups for the coffee machine they supplied. Our door also had a large pile of leaves right in front that we had to traipse through and their were no outside lights to our rooms as we came back in the dark. We were informed that there were breakfast bags across the street and we could use the pool across the street. The breakfast bags were an apple, granola bar and bottle of water and we did use the pool across the street before checkout on Saturday. That hotel was significantly nicer than this one. After eating dinner and breakfast in town at the only places recommended by the hotel, Dixie and O’Reilly’s, we learned the guy that owns these restaurants also owns the hotels. We paid as much to eat at these two meals, each, as our room cost. The food was good, but clearly this guy is taking advantage of the off season visitors. We also waited nearly 2 hours for breakfast at the pub with our children. I wish I would have known that St Ignace had breakfast options. We won’t be staying here again.

This stay was not what we paid for. Even given the Covid environment, this is substandard. We had booked two balcony rooms and when we got here they told us that we could only have one because there was a water leak in the other one. Unfortunately for the liars at the front desk, when we stand on our balcony we can see the people in the rooms next to us. There was no leak. I don’t know why they chose to give our pre-booked rooms, which were booked well in advance, to someone else. And for our second room they put us in some bizarre area where you a long winding, empty hallway, walk through an empty room then an empty conference room and you have to carry your luggage up these weird steps, to the upper floor where all the floors are all slanted - it’s bizarre!! It is definitely not, and I repeat not, a good set up. Add to that the fact that we have this terrible Harry Potter attic room for three members of our party, and they’re lying to us about why we didn’t get the rooms we had originally booked, they only credited us $20 for the changed room! It Is absolute thievery. Absolute. I do not recommend this hotel. Oh and by the way if you have small children and you think you’re going to use the waterpark, don’t plan on it before 4 PM. And if this is COVID-19 era, why are there long black hairs and pubic hairs in our bathtub when we get here? It doesn’t appear to be all that clean. This hotel is a sheer disappointment.

Where to start? Picture a beautiful resort, filled with state of the art amenities in 1994. Fast forward 27 years with no updates at all, and this is what you get: Thread bare carpeting throughout, beautiful wall paper that is peeling off the wall, 90’s era tv’s in the rooms, mattresses that were worn out in the Clinton administration, and bathroom fixtures held together with silicone.

As far as the amenities, there is a beautiful conference room upstairs that they advertise a full breakfast in. We go during the assigned time to find it empty. Hmmm… as we walk back, we check out the exercise room…. Looks nice. A closer look reveals a weight machine with no wires connecting the weights, a bike that has a frozen flywheel, and a cracked mirror. The arcade is three 90’s era games that are out of order…
We notice the sign outside advertising the NEW water park and Cable TV. We go to the park to find a 90’s era pavilion with faded paint and rusting through. Brownish water spraying out. The poolside had days old food rotting in the floor, old bandages lying about, and plastic tables and chairs that are faded as well.

Now, let’s talk about our experience: We call ahead for an early check in and are told they’d be ready for us. When we arrive, we’re told that they can’t accept early arrivals…. Hmmm. We are told to come back in a half hour after we explained that we called and given permission to check in.
We go to lunch, which takes an hour, we come back, and a new person is in the office and tells us that we can’t check in for several hours. We say forget it and leave despite being tired from the trip. She follows us out apologizing for the misunderstanding and hands us a room key. We’re tired so we decide to stay. We lug our suitcases up to the room only to find that someone else was in the room when we unlocked the door. As we turned to leave, we are approached by the staff person who again apologized that she made another mistake and gives us another key to the room across the hall.
Avoid at all costs!!!!

This hotel has the potential to be really nice, but they are using COVID as an excuse to book people and not follow through. We should have known when there wasn’t even a front desk clerk that we were on our own. My husband had to go next door to check us in, and the unfriendly clerk there told him no breakfast even though it is stated on the sign out front and online. This was our biggest letdown since we are traveling with four teens and counted on that free breakfast as part of our budget.Seems like false advertising to not even remove it from the sign out front.
We got to our room which appeared recently remodeled so that was nice. Have not seen any hotel staff since we arrived. It’s like a ghost town. Halls are dirty and strewn with litter. There were still plenty of people using the pool and little kiddie water park. No toothbrush at the counter next door (which is where calls get routed) which isnt a huge deal, just one more thing when you are already frustrated. After a shower(good water pressure and heat) I was shocked to find a dark body hair folded into the clean towel that I just took off the stack.
All in all I am not impressed!

we booked online as the pictures and reviews were good. When we arrived at the hotel the rooms had no towels, there were bugs in the corners of the bathrooms and hallways, very ,very outdated rooms with wallpaper peeling, stains on carpet etc.. the waterpark did not open until 2 p.m with the water being extremely cold. There is no coffee located in the hotel so we had to leave every morning to get a coffee. For the extremely high price of this hotel we were very disappointed. The entrance to the rooms is also in the back of the hotel which was very inconvenient for my mother who has bad knees and had to walk. They originally had us on 4th floor which has no elevator and no windows and extremely hot we asked for another room they updated the price by 200 a night and wouldn't let us cancel. They say the rooms are lakeview which they are not. They are across the street from the lake and you can barely see the lake from your room. they also said you have private beach which is across the street behind another hotel and they said you have access to 2 other waterparks which were not open. We will never stay her again! terrib

We read the reviews and I usually give the hotel the benefit of the doubt…that was a mistake this time.

We arrived earlier than the check in time so we let the front desk know we were going to grab lunch and do some shopping and come back.

Holy cow…not sure what kind of smell they are trying to cover up in the lobby, but the chemical/air freshener is extremely overwhelming. Gag…cough, cough.

When we returned to check in, the receptionist seemed overwhelmed and annoyed. It was clear she was over worked and needed a helper. The whole place was clearly understaffed.

Our room was on the main floor and we were able to access our vehicle easily as well as the pools.

Room was very dated, sheets on the pull out couch were not clean, and the bathroom reeked of a very strong urine smell. We made sure to wear flip flops in the room because the cleanliness oft he floors was clearly lacking.

We were able to go fetch clean sheets from the front desk. Again, the ladies seemed annoyed that they had to take a break from their phones to get up and go find sheets.

My kids enjoyed the indoor slides, pool, and hot tub. It’s overwhelmingly hot in there. Would be nice if there were better ventilation in the summer.

We preferred the outdoor pool area.

There were workers in the courtyard area with music blasted all day which made it hard to relax or open the blinds.

And I guess the kicker is that we left a blankie in our room when we left and it was not found. I called several times a few days after our departure and gave them a description, a call back number, and when we would be heading back to Mackinac to be able to grab it. Never called me back, and they clearly didn’t care. Just horrible customer service.

Bottom line, do better and stay elsewhere. Cabins of Mackinaw are right on the property, check them out!!

I paid $404 a night average for this room after taxes. I not only found herion, but when we checked in the room had been broken into, the door jam was broken as if someone had kicked in the door. When I followed up, I was told what was found was a vitamin. It doesn't matter if it was a vitamin or a tic tac. I found it in my room, and one of my grandchildren could have picked it up and put it in their mouths. I will NEVER use the Mackinaw City Chamber of Tourism ever again. They were unhelpful in getting this resolved and actually defended management for their lack of response. I will be blasting this company (would really like to know what company actually owns all these hotels because they are hiding behind the Tourism label, and they are all owned by one company).

I expected more based on the chain name and nightly rates. Overall the hotel was dirty and my wife and I found the layout rather odd and difficult to navigate with luggage and such. Of course "The Pandemic" is the reason for the issues. If that's the case you should be notified upon reserving the stay that maid service won't happen, the pool and pool area won't be cleaned daily, no breakfast, and no exercise room. I will say that the front desk person and maids that were at work were working very hard. I would likely book elsewhere next time.

I’m not one to usually write a review let alone a bad one but this place was absolutely terrible. I should’ve known when I called 2x prior to our visit and the staff was so rude both times. My family and I traveled to Mackinaw City to see the blue ice (which is definitely a beautiful site to see) on our way up I called to see if there was a possibility we could do an early check in, they said they would be unable to accommodate an early check in..okay that’s fine. We decided to travel further north and check out some other sites. We stopped and had dinner and while we were eating the hotel called to “confirm” our arrival, I let them know we would be there as soon as we were done eating. Got to the hotel a little after 6p, check in should’ve been 4p. Our room was not ready yet and wouldn’t be ready for another 45 minutes. The man at the desk only had excuses and said “I’m sorry, I don’t clean the rooms.” Then he went on to talk about how “no one wants to work, they just want to sit at home and collect unemployment.” Extremely unprofessional, there were 2 other families who were still waiting for their rooms to be clean as well. We ended up leaving and we will never return. The lobby was dirty, tore up old couches, boxes stacked, it was not welcoming at all. I guess the saying goes “you get what you pay for” I can’t imagine what the rooms would’ve looked like.

"Our room was very clean and nice, the waterpark, pool and hot tub was very nice for the Grandkids who were on Springbreak. Only complaint was outdated menu to Dixie saloon & no kids menus and I feel you need more than one ice machine and vending especially if you stay in Suites on 1st floor. Ashley was amazing Tuesday night when we asked if needed to extend our stay if we could and she said yes to just check back in the morning to make sure if our room was still available. Due to amount of ice accumulations wasn't sure we would leave Wednesday and she was so very helpful, we did leave after all but sure appreciated her as well as the young man who got us all checked in Monday night did not get his name but for being so short staffed these two went above and beyond."

I do not know if it is pet friendly,,,,their number is 800-411-2871. I've stayed a couple times and do not remember seeing anyone with pets. My suite had an outside entrance on the ground floor so I did not have a lot of interaction with other guests.
