We expected better conditions for the price. Odorific, original carpet, sticky surfaces, heat/cool unit packed with crud, and empty bottle under the bed. Only sheets are washed, so we brought our own quilts. How can a hotel expect people to sleep under a blanket strangers have used? They're only visually inspected. Gross. We cleaned the room ourselves before getting comfy. A little more effort from management and staff, this would be a good place to return.

Average place with very poor selection for breakfast. During two days they offered two little, not so fresh apples. I saw them later too, but finally someone has added one more apple. The cheapest coffee with weird taste, very cheap yogurt and waffles sticking to the pan, because the spray was hidden from guests. It was good place just to take shower and go to sleep after busy day. Overall I can say that place was clean too.

This isn't the newest or fanciest place but we got a good night sleep. Cold water was cold and hot was hot. They could use some new shower heads. Close to everything but far enough to be fairly quiet.

Please do not ho here. Pay a little extra and go somewhere else.I don’t ever review but this is just too much and painful btw. I paid 290 per night to end up with 29 bed bug bites. We looked through mattress and found a dry bb. There was no room service, they said we had to actually call them if we wanted the room clean, so the physical door sign was good for nothing. If we needed anything we had to go and get it ourselves. My bathtub was messed up so we physically had to lift the shower tab for the water to go. The outdoor pool was closed. The hot tub was closed. The indoor area was a literal mess, I had to do my own cleaning. I am not even going into details about my sister’s room except yes, they also have bb bites. So if you insist in booking here make sure you don’t get room 111 or 125. Also they never pick up the phone. I called 23 times before my trip to ask questions. We thought it was a scam so we drove in extra early and the lady was at the store “buying coffee” we arrived at 5:55am and they showed up at 7:30am from buying coffee and the coffee must have been invisible because she didn’t have anything in her hands.

My husband and I made the trip up to have a little get away. We made our way into the office after looking around. The young lady at the front desk was very pleasant she answered all my questions. We got to our room it was on the second floor very nice you could tell that they had remodeled those rooms. The staff was very friendly, the manager asked how we were doing and if we needed anything I enjoy when there is interaction with the guest. Close to town and the ferry. I would stay here again in the future.

Scheduled a stay at this hotel from October 5th-9th. Checked out on October 6th because hotel pool was closed for the season and we were not informed of that change prior to arrival. This is important to us as we have a young family and love to swim. Spoke to hotel employee, Brian, who assured us that he spoke to the owners (Carol and Roger) and we would be given a full refund. We confirmed with him that we were leaving in the 6th, cancelling the remainder of our stay, and going to stay somewhere else. No other solution was offered, just that we would be given a full refund for the entire reservation and we were free to seek other accomodations. He advised us to contact Booking to initiate contact with the hotel so that the owners/management could then authorize booking.com to issue our refund. Assured us again we would have no issues. When calling several days later to check on a refund that still was not issued, we were told by a new employee, Brandon, that we were given false information by Brian and the owners are now refusing any compensation. Tried to claim that the pool was open and there was no reason for us to leave (which is false. The pool was re-opened days after we had checked out and were already staying elsewhere.) We have spent hours on the phone going back and forth between the hotel and Booking, each time getting a different person and different information. But it boils down to this company, Great Lakes Inn, providing poor service, obviously poor training of their employees, and subpar accommodations to boot. Hotel was lacking in cleanliness and comfort upon checking in but for the price, breakfast, and access to pool we decided to try and make do. But the pool closing was a deal-breaker. The owners put their employees in the middle and refuse to speak to us directly. There is clearly no compassion or basic human values, only refusing to take responsibility for what their employee assured us would not be an issue. Do not stay here.

This is incorrect. We had a pool and currently have a pool available for all custo.ers. You were in a room that was just renovated the week before your arrival. New floors, beds, appliances etc... A hot continental breakfast was also available for all customers. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay.

My wife and I arrived at the hotel. we checked in with the front desk person I believe her name was Jennie, she was very helpful and answered all the questions we had. As we were going to our room the manager had welcomed us with a smile and a good afternoon and asked how our drive was. I really enjoyed that she took the time to ask. we got to our room and it was nice and clean and comfortable, we were on the second floor. Nice place to stay and have a relaxing stay. The pool was a nice tempature.

We really wanted to like this little place. But it was pretty bad. The desk clerk seemed annoyed that I had woken him when we checked in around 6:00 and then just kept shrugging and saying dunno when I asked questions about the area. The internet would not work. When we called the office we got voice mail. The beds and sheets were like cardboard. The place looked like it had zero maintenance.

Would never stay here again! Friendly service feel bad they have to handle dissatisfied Customers regarding cleanliness, functioning shower faucet, mold in the bathrooms/windows, dark lighting, broken lights, dingy walls, carpet, and moss growing all over outdoor patio. It was disgusting, glad we spent more time out of the room than in, however it was costly and should have been. Very over priced! Do not stay here.

Had to reach over the counter to reach the buzzer to get someone's attention. It looks ok from the outside. Inside, it stunk, slept with the window open and the heat cranked. Clean on the surface. Only hotel room available in Mackinaw City. The wifi and the tv didn't work. Breakfast was a joke. Frozen mini muffins where anyone could touch them. A total disappointment. Will not stay here again.
