Detailed Reviews
Because of the location, it was decided to stay here…for expeditious and easy access to the starting line for the walk across the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day. The check in process was fast and proficient, but it was a surprise to encounter a desk clerk that did not have any knowledge about boat rides from Saint Ignace to Mackinaw City. Before and during the annual bridge walk, parking for the overnight guests was well-coordinated by staff members…a parking pass was furnished for guests to place in their vehicles.
An interior corridor leads to a clean, 1st floor room that does not have a view of the bridge. This average-sized room has a spacious bathroom, a hair dryer, a refrigerator, a large mirror, and a comfortable bed.
Free toiletries were available upon request. Also included in the price of the room was a daily breakfast, and each morning there was a decent selection of items. Wake up calls were received on time. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
Overall, this was a very good experience.

Hello DinesEverywhere! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about our hotel. I'm not sure when you stayed at our hotel or if you're staying right now, but the confusion about the boat rides could be because there is no bridge walk this year. So, no boats from Mackinaw to St Ignace. Please stop at the desk so we can clear this up with you if you're staying now!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in July 2021. The property is in a great location, you can walk to restaurants, “downtown” and the Sheplers ferry dock…..or the front desk will get you a shuttle to the Sheplers dock. The front desk also sells discount Sheplers Ferry tickets ($3 off adult round trip fares).
Our room was clean and good sized. The room also had great water pressure in the shower.
There is coffee and hot water available in a hall just off the lobby all day.
The breakfast is nice with bagels, muffins, toast, cereal; microwave biscuits with egg and cheese (actually very good), French toast and pancakes. They also have juice, milk, coffee and yogurt. They keep the area neat and clean. Both mornings I saw staff members spraying and wiping down tables after each guest left the table.
They offer free parking as well.
There is an indoor pool, we did not use it, but saw many guests using it and they seemed happy.
The entire staff is friendly and helpful. They offer advice and suggestions for the area. The front desk staff also provides a local map highlighting stores and restaurants (there are also coupons on the map).
If you want a refrigerator in your room make sure you call and request one as all rooms don’t have refrigerators. I called the morning of check in and requested a refrigerator. When we arrived 5 hours later our reservation had refrigerator requested noted at the top and we did get a refrigerator in our room.
There is a grocery store around the corner and many restaurants are in walking distance. We wound up eating at Audies for dinner one night and lunch the next day. Audies is an easy flat four block walk.
If you are a member of the American Legion be sure to bring your membership card for cheap beer and liquor along with outstanding popcorn at Post 159 at the corner of E Central Ave and S Huron. It has a million dollar view of the waterfront from the bar. We stopped in twice and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Be sure to bring your current year American Legion membership card if you want to buy alcohol, I think it is a State ABC requirement. The Legion is a less than 5 minute walk from the Baymont Inn.
We will definitely stay at the Baymont Inn Mackinaw City on our next visit. I believe they are closed in the winter though.

We stayed 2 nights while visiting the town and going over to Mackinac Island for the day. The Baymont is very near Shepler's Ferry so it is really convenient as well as being walking distance to shops and pubs. We rode our bikes down the road behind the hotel and crossed the street in 3 minutes on our bikes which avoided having to park and take the shuttle or pay to park in the premium lot. The bed was comfortable but the pillows aren’t great. For breakfast due to Covid-19 restrictions, the hot breakfast is not available, but the substitution was very lacking. They could do a whole lot better. You pick from a list of prepackaged items that they toss in a paper bag and take it to your room. Offered items were packaged plain donut, muffin, OJ, applesauce, fruit cup, yogurt and granola bar. You cannot make coffee in your room but they have coffee/tea setup in lobby. Still, I think they are your best option in town.

Hi Trish! Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel! I'm glad you found your way to the ferry easily; both ferry companies also offer free shuttle service to and from the dock. Keep that in mind for next time! We are always taking suggestions for breakfast!! Please let us know how we can make it better!

Booked several nights online and upon check-in was surprised to learn the included hot breakfast, pool, fitness room, and whirlpool were non-existent. So was a partial refund in order? Of course not! How about promised 24 hour coffee in the lobby... nope. The microwave ovens were also removed from each room. What a joke. Oh, and the property also boasted of being 100% smoke free... except for the room a few doors down doing their best to recreate a scene from any Cheech and Chong movie.

While booking online, you should have seen that at the time of your stay, we were not allowed to have the hot buffet breakfast, pool, fitness room, and whirlpool open according to local and state restrictions for COVID. Along with an email sent to you before your arrival explaining the changes and reasons, you should have also seen it at the top of the page on the site you used to book online, along with at the top of our TripAdvisor page. We do have a great Grab and Go breakfast available for all our guests in the morning at the desk. Our Promised 24 Hour Coffee is and always has been available right next to the front desk where you checked in. Even though it's not our choice to have the pool, breakfast or fitness area closed, our rates reflect a sizeable discount already for the inconvenience. While our suites include microwaves and refrigerators, our standard rooms do not and it's not advertised on any of our online booking sites that we do. We are renovating and working on that right now, however. I can assure you no microwaves have been removed from any rooms that are advertised as having them. I'm sorry I didn't get to speak with you about these issues while you were here; I remember seeing you several times during the several days you were here and could have addressed all of this then to make your trip more enjoyable.

We had a great experience at this hotel. From being very accommodating when we needed to change reservation dates (we did follow the rules) to the cleanliness and comfort of the room, we enjoyed our experience. It’s also right across the street from the free Shepler’s day parking lot so the tram will pick you up and drop you off right there. Would recommend the Bayfront wholeheartedly.

No cups in the rooms, nothing to take our pills with, or a drink of water. Wi-fi was free but so slow we couldn’t use it. Toilets were so low to the ground it was like squatting.
Room above ours was pounding on the floor, sounded like jumping off the beds and wrestling, called the front desk to ask if they could handle it. Had to call back down 30 minutes later because it was still happening, and was told she called them but no one answered. She asked “Was I sure I had the right room?”! It’s 11:30pm and I’m in bed wearing pajamas, I wasn’t going hunting! I asked her to come up and find the room/noise herself please. Noise continued.

We had a beautiful room with a King bed that was very comfortable. Our room had a microwave and frig. The location is close to the ferry docks and dining options. The clerk who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. When we asked about breakfast she advised that it was grab and go but there would be hot breakfast sandwiches. When we were getting breakfast we were told that there were no breakfast sandwiches. The breakfast is a diabetic nightmare ALL CARBS. I understand the need for changes in the current environment but hard boiled eggs is a good protein choice and a breakfast sandwich could be provided that could be heated in the rooms which have microwaves. We were able to leave out car there while we went to Mackinac Island which was very nice and they called the ferry shuttle to pick us up. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again just make alternative breakfast plans.

Great location and the front desk was very helpful at checking in. Reasonable rate and clean rooms.
However I was very disappointed that there was no in room coffee maker. I was told this was due to COVID. Ok just meant I had to get somewhat dressed and go down to the lobby for a cup of joe in the morning.
What makes no sense was they had no plastic cups for water to take meds. Again was told due to COVID. Hell the cups are wrapped in plastic and disposed of after use. I stayed at several other hotels on my trip and no others had this type of restriction, one was in Grand Rapids so couldn’t be a state restriction.
After all this I would stay here again. Was a nice place and so close to everything.

We stayed here for 6 days and our stay was great. The hotel informa you upon arrival that due to Covid-19, there will be no hot breakfast (cold bagged instead) and no room cleaning unless you specifically ask for it. They are happy to give you towels, cups, etc if you need more during your stay and this was easy to just grab as we came in.
The pool area is open just not to more than 11 people. The our room was nice, clean and comfortable. There was a large refrigerator and the mattress was so comfy. We would definitely stay again

We were disappointed in this hotel. We chose it because it had the best rating in the area. We had reserved a king size bed, and were put in a room beside the pool. Do not accept this room if you get it! It had an odor/smell. When we checked in the window was open slightly, there is an overhead fan that was on, and there is a dehumidifier in the room. They are aware that there is a problem with this room. They gave it to us anyway. There was also a dirty towel on the floor.
We asked to change rooms after about 2 hours. They gave us a queen room that was an accessible room. Meaning we had a smaller room, not comfortable and nowhere else to switch to. When we asked about a price adjustment the clerk told us to take it up with the morning manager. The morning manager said she could give us the room at the regular queen rate. We would hope so!! There was no apology, no discount. We were very disappointed.

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The room you mention is directly adjacent to the pool and with that comes some challenges. The fan, and dehumidifier are there to mitigate these issues. We have a lot of return guests who request this room for its proximity to the pool. I wish we could have relocated you to the same room type on a different floor, but our occupancy level on that night did not allow this.

We only accept dogs. There is a $25 per night per pet fee
If their policy hasn't changed in recent years, I believe that it is closed in the winter months.
Depends on your room type. If you have a suite, yes. If not, please call and request a room with a refrigerator. We do not have microwaves or stoves in rooms, but there is one in the lobby you're welcome to use any time.
