Travelers have mixed impressions of the Days Inn by Wyndham Mackinaw City - Lakeview, with the hotel's location often praised for its closeness to local attractions and the scenic views it offers. While some guests have found the service friendly and the rooms comfortable, others were disappointed by instances of unprofessional staff behavior and rooms that were not up to standard in terms of cleanliness and maintenance.
The hotel's pet-friendly policy and lake views are a plus, but the value proposition is questioned by many, due to perceived high costs in relation to the quality and state of amenities provided.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is motel style (no inside hallways and parking right outside your door). This location is fine to stay at on a long road trip, which was my situation; however, it is dingy and only just clean enough. There were dead flies (one which I found in the water reservoir of the coffee maker), mold in the bathroom, wall paper peeling away, and a hair on one of the washcloths. Also, the window lock was broken and the door was difficult to open and close. Despite all of this, the location is just under 10 minutes from the Headlands Dark Sky Preserve and not far from the Macinac Bridge. The price was just under $80 after taxes and fees so it is very doable. Another thing to be aware of is that the free breakfast ends an hour before checkout and is only coffee, apples, and granola bars so it is actually free snacks, not breakfast. Overall, this place is just fine for a single night stay

The previous customers left behind cigarette butts on the balcony and the room smells like someone had been smoking weed when I first opened the door. I had to picked up the cigarette butts to avoid my dog from chewing it.
The staffs are nice and I love the view of the lake from my room. However I do wish there's a microwave in my room so I won't have to go back and forth to the lobby to heat up my food.

We stayed for 4 nights. Because of Covid there was no breakfast offered. That was fine but we do like our morning coffee. When we checked in there was one pack of coffee. The next day I went to the desk and asked for more coffee. The girl said she would bring it to the room. By the next morning we still didn’t receive any coffee so I went back to the desk. The same girl was there and seemed irritated that I was even asking and told me she could not get me any coffee because she was the only one there. I told her I asked her the day before and she said
she stopped by our room and no one was there. I had not left the room so I know she didn’t come by. We ended up buying our own coffee and filters as well as some vinegar to run through the pot because it was pretty filthy. There was also no housekeeping services due to Covid but we did request new towels a couple times. But again, the staff (housekeeping) seemed put out that we would even ask. I have no problem keeping my room neat myself but I don’t think I should get attitude just asking for towels! There was also some garbage on the steps to the upper level that sat there our entire stay. Housekeepers would walk past it like they didn’t even see it. I ended up picking it up myself on the 4th day! The employees don’t seem to take any pride in the property which is a shame. It’s such a great location and beautiful views. The only friendly person we came into contact with was the girl who checked us in. I wish I had gotten her name to give her kudos for a job well done. The room itself was pretty clean (except for the coffee pot) but could really use a facelift with carpet and walls. Overall I would stay here again and I love that they were pet friendly.

It was a dump! The room was damp, the air conditioner was filthy and blew out sour smelling air. The wall paper was peeling off of the bathroom walls. The layout of the room was awful. The air conditioner was right next to the sink blowing cold air while you washed your face and brushed your teeth. Turning it off while doing so would have made the room too hot.
One bright note was the lady at the front desk. She was great!

If you’re looking for fancy, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a nice place to rest your head that’s inexpensive, this is it. We stayed in room 125.
Yes, it’s an older place that needs updates (wallpaper in the bathroom, outdated flooring in the bathroom) but considering that, we enjoyed our stay. If you're looking from an aesthetic viewpoint, you may be disappointed, The bedding was clean, the bed was cozy and the pillows are very soft, Hot water from the shower and a toilet that flushed, Clean towels/wascloths/hand towels. We had a small hiccup with the TV but the front desk staff remedied it. The AC worked well. They have a lovely gray plank vinyl/laminate flooring throughout the room. There’s a mini fridge too that serves its purpose.
We had a lake front balcony room which was very nice. I’ve been to other hotels here in Mackinac City where their balcony’s were simply nasty. The balcony is spacious, two clean chairs and a small table. Large enough for our dog to roam around and find a nice place to relax as well.
This place is in perfect walking distance to everything.

very dirty room - outside of property very unkept - heating / air conditioning filters need changed. The room had a very musty smell. When charging someone $150.00 a night to stay you would think someone would inspect for cleanliness.

Absolutely a s--t hole. Feces on clean bed sheets, mold, door jambs that had been kicked and cracked, need I go on. We paid for 2 nights, before we saw the room, and there were 2 other couples that were in the office complaining about the condition of the rooms. They refused to give us a refund and the manager I talked to on the phone stated that they would come and fix the problem that night. There is not enough time in the world to fix the problems with this establishment. It was 5:45 PM and our check in time was 3:00, and the room was still not ready. Still working with the main Windam hotels to get a refund. I turned the keys in that night and got a room at the Comfort Inn just down the street. Manager was a B---ch.....

They promote a pool and spa and free breakfast. This is why I booked there. Pool under construction had to walk to another hotel to use. The free breakfast was a granola bar and an apple with coffee or tea. Even continental style is more gracious than that. I feel like they should advertise the breakfast as an on the go snack, not breakfast! We paid for breakfast elsewhere for my family, this was an unexpected expense of $60 that should not have been since I booked a hotel with free breakfast. This is hardly worth the extra $100 I spent over a super 8 without any bonus features. Our room had mold, no updates since mid 70's. Not exaggerating. I spent the last week staying in 5 different hotels at a similar price point. This room should never have been rented out, the hotel clearly has no pride in their place, dirty comforters, rust, mold, cracked walls, torn lamp, broken guest book, rusty ice bucket are all things I took images of. I would have expected to at $40 for a hotel room like this in a horrible unsafe location, not $165 in hotspot Mackinaw City.
