Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place was terrible. The rooms were not as advertised. On top of that, the room was extremely dirty with water on the floor, poop splatters on the wall and dust everywhere. The staff was unwilling to work with us and accommodate to give us a cleaner room or refund our money. Do not stay here.

We stayed at Bell's Melody because it allowed dogs to stay. I also had a broken ankle, so I wanted my vehicle parked as close to the door as possible. And finally, I wanted to be on Lake Huron. This hotel checked all the criteria.

This is a cheap hotel. The furniture was from the 1950s. Our room had 2 double beds, which were pushed up next to the wall to allow more walking space. The place was clean.

It also had a tv and fridge. No hair dryer. Soap, shampoo, and
conditioner were furnished.

I was excited there was a stand up shower. The shower was almost unusable. Hardly any water came out.

The hotel is on beautiful Lake Huron. You can swim in the lake. They also had fire pits for customers to use, no wood was provided.

Because of COVID, breakfast is not served. They gave us a coupon for buy one get one free at a local restaurant.

Wonderful location. Everything else was horrible (and I've stayed there several times before). Room smelled of mold, has had no updates since many, many years ago (I'm talking 60's here). Used washcloth someone left in the shower. Never got any fresh towels (stayed 3 nights). Air conditioner was so old it barely worked, outlets are loose from the walls. If we could have gotten our money back, we would have stayed at another hotel. It is managed by a company that is managing 4 hotels and have no business sense as to how to manage. People stood in line for a long time waiting to check in. Each check in took 10-15 mins. I realize they were having a employee shortage problem, but 2 housekeepers for 4 hotels? I'm very sad to say we won't stay there again. We had loved it previously. Now its overprices and nasty. Pool was freezing (hose running into it), and the hottub looked like someone had an accident in it. No one would go in it and the guests remarked how bad the facility was. There were 3 families with us. So disappointing.

Ridiculous experience. I'd rather burn 200 Dollars before I go back there.
Carpet was older than my grandmother, stains everywhere including the wall around the toilet, the A/C looks like a holocaust surviver and made noises as if I stepped on a cat. Staff was lying to us when it came to cancelling the reservation and were unwilling to accommodate us with a cleaner room or anything. The pictures displayed are NOT what you'll find there.
Didn't even make it to the beach, we were disgusted the moment we walked up to our room.
Do not go there

So, I read the previous reviews and knew what to expect. Check-in process was long and couldn’t get into the room until an hour and a half after check in time. The one and only housekeeper was doing the best she could. I feel sorry for her. The price is high for what you get, but that’s our fault for accepting the price and staying. The room itself was fine for the night. We had one of the end rooms with a private deck. It had two queen beds and a decent chair to sit in. The TV was a flat screen, but when I turned it on to watch the Detroit Tigers opener, the channels would not appear. I called at 6:30pm to have someone come and fix it. I called two more times throughout the night and nobody came until 10pm. I had already fixed it myself, but feel I shouldn’t have to worry about that on vacation. The room was dirty. There were stains everywhere. The shower head is so low I felt like I was bending over backwards to wash my hair. The beds probably need to be replaced and the room needs to be overhauled. But, if you are looking for the least expensive place on the water, this is it. The view of the bridge is priceless and there are several fire pits. It was fine, but could be much better. Also, do not expect a coffee maker, glad I travel with mine, though the room did have a decent fridge. Remember; you get what you pay for.

DO NOT stay here. Don't even chance it! Upon checking in we were relieved to put out feet up after camping all week. We were excited for a hot shower, but apparently for $235 water isn't included! There was no shower curtain in the room, toilet paper was out, the shower head didn't work properly and leaked all over, the sinks water supply had been shut down and when turned back on, it leaked all over the cabinet below. The water was rusty from sitting for so long, and was ultimately not drinkable at the time. The headboard area had screws hanging outside of the walls. Don't hit your head! That's a good trip to the hospital and hope you are up to date on your tetanus shot! We requested a curtain and for someone to check out both the shower and sink. They said they had to call a maintenance man. The room should not have been booked out if it were not in working order to begin with. At 6 pm we were still waiting for it to be fixed. We called to ask if we could be place in a different room so we could finally relax. The manager was unable to help us and told us to "wait for repairs to be finished". The maintenance man was out getting spare parts to repair our broken room. This should have been fixed before renting the room out to someone, no? Well, the manager sure gave us a hard time and gave us the go around for everything. She ultimately refused a refund and treated us rudely, as if we were being unreasonable people. We decided to not stay in a place where we had no privacy, the manager was rude upon her own mistakes of renting out a broken room, and we were declined a refund or a discount to stay. Don't do it. Stay somewhere else. It's not worth the hassle. Believe the bad reviews. I should have.

Very old and dingy hotel. Absolutely needs updating. Carpet looks like it hasn't been shampooed in twenty years. Blinds were broken. Holes in walls. Our room smelled like cat pee. Oxidation on all the faucets. Every time we flushed the toilet, the water came back yellow. I referred to this place as the Bates Motel-scary.

We called to book a room and called back about an hour later because we needed to cancel it. The manager Nina told us we'd be charged full price. I asked to speak to the owners and I was told they are not available. She gave me a 1800 number to call were no one will pick up and there is no voicemail. What a scam. This place will literally never get my business now.

Was put in hotel here, but booked elsewhere. The room was run down and smelled of mold. Charged for at least 4 star hotel this place is a 2. Which is easy to see way. In window air conditioner you could see outside where bugs were coming in. Most disgusting place I've ever stayed.
