Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our family of 4 spent 3 nights tent camping at Mill Creek and had a grand ole time! This privately owned property is the ultimate family spot, so if you have littles, this is a perfect camp ground, lots of activities!

First off, we got a lake front tent spot (20amp, modern). It was pricey but you get what you pay for, we slept overlooking the lake and that view is amazing as mentioned on every post here. I would say, if you can't book a lake front spot, the rest of the spots do seem small, not much shade.

One thing to realize is they pre-assign the spot for you, so you don't really get to pick, but you pay for the type of spot you want. We were 168 20amp modern and the spot was def tight, not much shade at all but so convenient because we were right across from the beach (good bc it was close, not great due to noise but we weren't really bothered too much). Bathrooms/showers were a close walk or a quick bike ride.

For the kids, there were sandy 2 playgrounds, putt putt golf, a pool, the beach. Def a very family friendly campground.

What was nice too was, they offer a shuttle that takes you to the ferry that goes to Mackinac island. It even brings ya back when you come back to camp.

Loved the camp store, which has EVERYTHING you would need or may have forgotten. reasonable prices too.

def would come back, make sure to book a lake front site and enjoy, so beautiful.

Beautiful views of Lake Huron, Mackinaw island and bridge, clean, quiet and the sound of the waves crashing to shore are amazing. Unfortunately, Starline, the company that shuttles back and forth to the dock put a damper on my perfect vacay. I called to ask if we could take the shuttle into town as it does several times a day. We were told we could but when we called for the shuttle, three very rude women said they weren’t a taxi service and couldn’t take us. If I may suggest, Mill Creek should work with Starline to allow guests to ride whether continuing on to the island or not. I was willing to pay for the ride and the rude women adamantly refused.

I highly recommend Mackinaw Mill Creek but their relationship with Starline needs help.

Thanks for staying with us and for the nice review! Yes, everyone is short-staffed and those working are a bit overdone after a summer so record breaking, exhausting and busy that even Star Line's CEO is working on the boats this summer. Sorry about them not being more understanding. We don't have much for Uber or Lyft and there was a shuttle company that the owners retired last year so there are not a lot of options for rides into town at the moment.

This was our third time staying at Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground. We love it! The campground is on the beach of Lake Huron, with great views of the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island. We stayed with our grandkids this time. The sites are close together, but with the trees and bushes between the campsites, there is a feeling of privacy. There is only one bathhouse, and flush toilets on the campground, so if that is important, be sure to mention that when making a reservation. We had a full hookup, so it was not an issue. We loved that we could hear the water at the shoreline when we went to sleep at night. Free shuttle to Star Line Ferry to Mackinac Island. We also use the shuttle to go into Mackinaw City to sightsee.

We traveled here for 4 nights a few weeks ago, we should have stayed a week or more. Very large RV sites, our RV is 35 feet long, site very big. We used their shuttle service and pre paid tickets to Ferry for Macinac Island was very quick and convenient. DId not use any amenities. Very large RV Park and very busy. I thought I booked a spot with Lakeview, did not but ended up liking our spot. lots going on here with people, bikes everywhere but very quiet place at night.
YOu can walk to Lake Michigan on property to swim, kayak, canoe. We will be back.

I took my 4 grandkids, ages 3 to 14, camping here. They all loved it! Beautiful well-maintained campground. Our site was just a short walk to the lake. The younger kids loved the playground. A convenient shuttle available to take you to and return from the Star Line ferry docks. Nice camp store. Mini golf and pool, too. WIFI is spotty, but we were able to connect most of the time. We actually camped at this campground 30+ years ago, when my kids were small and it was nice to see the place was still in awesome shape!

We weren’t able to get one of the really nice Lakeview sites but it was only a short walk to the end of our lane to the beach area. Our site was one of their smallest ones but we were really only there to sleep so it was ok. We only got three air tv stations. Free wi-fi was ok. There’s nice benches and “porch” swings along the beach area and also fire pits along the beach area. Store was ok. You can catch a free shuttle that takes you to and from the ferry landing to Mackinac Island. The store also sells ferry tickets.

If you need a regular grocery store I recommend going into Cheboygan. The little grocery store in Mackinaw City is extremely high and small.

Crowded with big rigs requiring full electric, water and sewer but with good infrastructure to accommodate them along with a few tent sites. Though close together sites are are at least moderately privatized by rows of trees between each so, at the height of summer, green foliage makes an effective visual privacy screen if not soundproof. So watch your language. But in truth, the seagulls sometimes make more noise than the campers and their dogs.

Mill Creek is exactly what we expected from prior reviews when making our reservations. Mill creek is a great location to park your Family RV and let the kids safely enjoy the park. Though a far cry from Michigan’s Wilderness State Park just a half hour to the west and much closer in concept to its name one is much more likely to snag a full service reservation at Mill Creek than at one of the far fewer full service sites at Wilderness. However if seeking a more traditional and remote camping experience but with a few full service hookups, hold out for one of those scarce sites at Wilderness. Wilderness even has a dark sky location for campers to enjoy the star studded night skies or Northern Lights if your timing is right. But you cannot beat the convenience and proximity to down town Mackinaw city and the ferries to Mackinac Island when staying at Mill Creek.

Nothing really to complain about here but given the concept of a huge full service camp ground on prime real estate is not our style 4 out of 5 says it for me. Proximity to ferries to Mackinac Island and good management of all services and amenities rates the 4 but a single central rest room and shower complex, which are indeed cleaned twice daily also downgrades it a bit.the single central restroom makes for a sometimes inconvenient hike or or drive for us small teardrop trailer campers who prefer to use campground facilities over on board facilities like the big rig folks do.

In spite of its size quiet hours are strictly adhered to and the place is quiet enough outside quiet hours. In truth. Seagulls make more noise than the campers and their dogs.

This place is huge!! All the camping spots seemed really nice with the best being the ones on the shore of the lake. Our campsite was not on the shoreline but was still nice and was within walking distance of the lake. The weather did not cooperate with us while we were there--it was cool and cloudy but that can't be helped. The camp store was very nice too with a variety of souvenirs and food to purchase. There are a couple of spots in the campground where a free shuttle picks you up and takes you to the ferry for the ride to Mackinac Island which was very good. It saves having to drive to the parking lot of the ferry service. We were disappointed that the shower facilities were all located by the campstore/pool so we didn't get to use them but our campsite had full hookups so we were able to shower in our camper. Definitely a great place to camp by the lake and Mackinac Island.

I had reserved a campsite a month before my arrival. The lot map showed plenty of sites near the water. The site was 70$. I arrived early and used the shuttle which was nice to get to the Ferry. When i got back to get my site i was put in lot that was in the Maintenance garage parking lot. The hook ups for water were in the real camps on the other side of the trees. I could not reach the sewer hook up as well. I went back to the front office and said this will not work. I was given a refund then they immediately recharged my credit card. I tried calling but got no response.

Response from Frank Rogala, Owner at Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground
Responded 26 June 2021
It seems you made a few assumptions. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. Yes - we have a mile of lakefront. However, if the site you book is not called "Lake," "Lakefront,"" Lakeview" - it is not on or near the lake. The campground is 200 acres with a mix of water front, meadows and woods. If you booked a month before a busy July date - especially in 2020 (the busiest year ever), you did not get a prime site - I am surprised you got a site at all. You would have had a last remaining space (which may have been a parking lot site, but would be near our rally building, not near our maintenance area). Lakefront sites on holidays and busy weekends are usually booked by the first of the year. That and the lack of a full hookup would have been reflected on your site booking, as well as your confirmation, or if booked on the phone a staff member would have clearly told you the facilities available on your site. Because we have full hookups does not mean every site has full hookups. We have 25 different site types, everything from basic no hookups to 50 amp full hookups in extra large sites. As everywhere, all sites cost more on busy holidays. We give refunds conditionally - those terms and conditions are stated when you reserve and are explained if you make a phone reservation. If you were not refunded fully or in part it may be because of the "busy Holiday" policies you were told about, however you should have gotten a full explanation. A recharge might well have been a mistake - so I hoped you contacted us. Those terms and conditions can be seen at https://www.campmackinaw.com/terms-conditions/

Very wonderful campground beautiful views of the bridge and lake! Full hookups are not that expensive, very nice camp store and employees are nice and helpful. I did not use there shower facilities so I can’t speak about them. They have shuttle to the ferry for mackinaw island and they sell tickets in store at a few dollar discount. I will be back one day hopefully soon!

We have 25 types of sites and cabins so if you want to be together some people may have to be flexible in their needs. Links are not permitted here but search on our web page for "group camping' for tips.

Yes but there is a $15 per bike tag required. It might be more cost-effective to rent bikes on the island.
