I totally enjoyed my stay at the Rivera Motel. The staff there is extremely friendly and helpful. I talked to David several times before traveling and he was great. The motel is older but very well cared for. My room was extremely clean and spacious. They have recently added coffee makers (pods) and refrigerators in the rooms. I do not think this is on their website yet.

The motel is in a great location right next to a state park and right on the lake. It is a 10 minute walk to the boats to Mackinac Island and to restaurants and shopping downtown. If I ever head back to northern Michigan, this will be my go to place to stay.

I don’t normally choose motels when I travel, but I specially booked this place based on other traveler reviews and the view of the Mackinac Bridge. This place did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly upon check in, even offering recommendations for local dining. It seems to be a small family run establishment. Our room, though a bit dated, was clean and comfortable. Loved the towel swans on the bed- made us feel like we were on a cruise ship! And you definitely can’t beat the view of the bridge. Just a couple of steps outside my door and I was able to catch the sun rising over Lake Huron and the bridge at dawn. It’s not possible to get a picture of the sun rising behind the bridge from the property because of the location, but it would be possible to catch sunset. Unfortunately it was very cloudy on the evening we arrived. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again if in the area.

We stayed here two different nights on our trip up and back to the Upper Peninsula. Would highly recommend it. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Great views of the Mighty Mac Bridge. Rooms are somewhat small, but perfectly fine, including a fridge to store your cold stuff overnight.

We called before arriving to check on how the rooms are cleaned since we now are dealing with COVID 19. They use alcohol to sanitize the room. They do not hold the room vacant after it is occupied. They have a wall mounted hand soap dispenser and dispensers for body wash and shampoo. No individual containers. You can request to not have your room cleaned or stocked but you can easily get what you need.
Being an older property means don’t expect a bathroom vanity. Don’t be surprised if you can’t park near your room or even find some black mold in the bathroom.
The positive is it is a great location. It is next to the lighthouse in Mackinaw City. It’s an easy walk to the beach.
There are not as many restaurants open in town so keep that in mind when planning your meals.
The owners and staff are friendly and helpful. Each room has two outdoor chairs and small table.

The Riviera is an older hotel, but the rooms and bathrooms have been updated, are comfortable, and clean. Chocolates on the bed were a nice touch. The view of the Mackinac Bridge is great, and location is close to the water. The pool wasn't open but looks like it is nice. They don't offer breakfast but give a discount coupon to a local restaurant, but we didn't have time to try it. They seem to be very serious about their no pet and no smoking policy which we appreciate. Would definitely stay there again.

This is a hidden gem. The views of the Mackinac Bridge and the island at night and location to town are amazing and the staff went above and beyond our expectations. The rooms and pool were clean and well-maintained. Definitely would stay here again.

Wow! BE CAREFUL with this place and do business with them at your own risk. Had reservations for Wednesday October 19th, 2022, family and I super exited for a night at the Rivera and then onto the island for a few nights as well. Wife came down with COVID Sunday, I called first thing Monday AM to explain and cancel, was told they would "check with manager", no response. I called again Tuesday, was told I was too late to cancel and would be charged 1/2 of my $200 reservation, or I could still use the reservation. I expressed my concern with that given the COVID situation, asking if they really wanted me to cart my sick family to their motel? Was then told they didn't like my "tone" and now they will be charging me the full amount. Not nice people. Sophia is the owners daughter, engage at your own risk. I am an experienced traveler and reasonable person, this is the first negative review that I have taken the time to write, but feel strongly doing business with this place is a poor choice. Find a place with better customers service and some warmth in their hart for others.

Location can't be beat! Right between two parks, and right on the beach. Older style motel, but exceptionally clean.

Front desk staff was friendly and knowledgable of things going on. they were even helpful when my toddler locked us out of our bathroom :)

Our only wish was that the pool was open during our stay- completely understandable as the Executive Orders due to COVID were JUST lifted. We will just wait to swim until our next visit.

We were attracted to The Riviera Motel because of its location and it did not disappoint! After a drive from Ann Arbor to the top of Lower Michigan, I wanted to be able to relax, see some sights, and leave the Jeep parked upon arrival. If that’s what you’re looking for, this is the place! The Lighthouse Park is literally right next door, along with the fort, museums, and the Straits of Mackinaw! To add to the scene is the beautiful Mackinaw Bridge! We were able to walk into town for dinner and to enjoy the downtown.

We stayed a couple of nights before the short five-minute drive to the ferry terminal for our trip over to Mackinac Island.

While at the hotel, we met a number of friendly travelers like ourselves. Everyone seemed to be having a very nice time. The room was clean and comfortable. And did I mention the views?! One amenity that I really liked was the fact that there was a Keurig coffee maker in the room, as well as in the office. The one in the office had a wide variety of coffees and teas, all at no charge.

All in all, it’s a really nice place.

Stayed here twice this fall. Room 103 in September for $110; Room 203 in October for $152. Both rooms have outdoor seating, were spacious with designated seating/suite type space, and had window views of the Bridge.

Pluses: Price!!! Try getting a bridge view for less. Location! Right next to the light house park and only 4 blocks to Mackinaw City's main drag. Heated pool. Friendly staff!!!

Minuses: Dated - but functional - bathrooms. Not much else.

Travelers to the area come back to this place year after year. Stay here, you won't be disappointed.
