Very nice room and location. Nice patio to enjoy the view from..Right on the beach with chairs and fire pits. Even fireworks on the water on Fridays !! Short walk down the beach to ferry dock for Mackinac Island. Very nice desk clerks. We did miss getting to use pool area so that was disappointing but otherwise great.

The hotel is in a great location and the view is beautiful.

The beach has great potential but no one seems to maintain it. While walking down the beach, other resorts has employees ‘grooming’ the beach to keep it clean from debris/seaweed. There were a couple random chairs outside to use. Picnic table was broken.

The room was nice. Two beds separated by the bathroom/small kitchenette area with sink, microwave, and mini fridge. Balcony had 2 plastic chairs and small plastic table to enjoy the view. Great view of the fireworks.

The resort lists breakfast as included. If you believe breakfast is an apple and a small Chewy granola bar, then sure I guess it’s included. Extremely disappointed when we were handed a bag with no real food. We had just travelled from another hotel in Michigan where they had a full continental breakfast- cereal, make your own waffles, pasties, yogurt, etc. To then come here where it was easily $90 more a night and be handed an apple was EXTREMELY disappointing.

The pool/hot tub area is on the opposite side of the resort and is very dark and uncomfortable feeling. Not sure how else to explain it but it doesn’t look like the bright airy photo you see on the posting. It’s not necessarily dirty, just off putting.

Wasn’t a great experience, wasn’t a horrible one. For the price I wish it had been better but I guess that’s what you get in a tourist town.

The rooms were large and CLEAN. The staff (both front desk and housekeeping) were excellent. This hotel is a little farther away from down town and the boats than some other hotels but it is much more quiet and less expensive. You should definitely consider this hotel the next time you visit Mackinaw.

My favorite part of my vacation is sitting out on the balcony in the morning and drinking my coffee. When we arrived in our room we opened the door to the balcony and there were spiders and spider webs everywhere. Hundreds of spiders. You couldn’t even walk out the door because of all the webs across it. I asked a hotel worker who was in the hallway about it and was told that they were given a can of spray to kill the spiders but this person wouldn’t use it because they had asthma. I asked if it could be cleaned and was told I could use the broom on their cart. I took the broom and swept down webs and spiders but the next morning they were back. The balcony chairs were filthy as were the walls and floor. I went to the front desk and asked that the balcony be clean. I was told that housekeeping would be told. No one ever came up to clean. We ended up going to Walmart and buying spider spray, a broom and disinfecting wipes and cleaning it ourselves. The next day while sitting out on the balcony spiders started dropping from the ceiling. I refused to pay for more spray and went down to the front desk to ask for a can of the spray the worker told us about on our first day. I was told that they are not allowed to spray spiders because of a environmental rule. Well one of them was lying.
The indoor pool is disgusting.
The shower in our room had terrible water pressure and an awful shower head.
There were spiders in the room dropping down on us from the ceiling.
The extra security lock on the door is broken.
We had to go to the front desk to get our clean towels and garbage bags.
No maid service.
One good point, other than the spiders, the room was clean.
No water faucet outside to rinse sand off your feet so you track sand into your room.

The room had a Beautiful View of Lake Huron off a private balcony. The rooms & hotel are in need of updating. We have stayed in much more modern rooms on a lake at a much more affordable rate. The front desk staff were not very nice. The manager did not greet us. We were staying there for a funeral. There were stains on the bathroom ceiling and elsewhere. I feel the prices were very high. But we did enjoy the Friday night fireworks & the beautiful lake & bonfire. No coffee was offered in the lobby nor was breakfast offered.

While visiting the island we decided to stay one more night and this hotel had availability. The room was very clean. The only downside to the room was that it seemed like the door accessing the balcony was left open, and the mosquitos got in. We asked the cleaning personnel for mosquito spray, and thank god it took care of the issue. The personal at the front desk and everyone in the premis that we either asked for help or just a question was extremely nice and helpful. Another downside is the beach didn't have much sitting area and the entrance ways and halls were infested with mosquitos, some that you can tell had been there for a while. It would be a lot more welcoming if all that was cleaned out. The beach water was not to clear the first day we arrived, but the next morning it was cristal clear. Over all it was a good experience.

The maid Sandra didn't clean out the coffee pot from the previous guests use so I found half a pot of stall coffee and a used coffee pod in the filter, there were other people hairs on the counters and sinks, the chairs and table on our balcony were covered in spilled coffee and other stains, and there were a few cobwebs in between the slats of the balconies railing. Sandra never came to our room to empty the trash, sweep, give us fresh towels, give us a new roll of toilet paper, or new coffee supplies for our in room coffee port. The windows were very dirty and to see the lake view we had to open the window and let the cold air into our room, there were stains on the carpet, missing tile on the counter, loose tiles on the window ledge, there was a hole above our tub with a plastic pipe showing, our toilet kept running so we had to keep taking the tank lid off and fixing it. There is only one elevator for the guests and staff to use and the staff act like the guests shouldn't be using it, the bike rack blocks half of the sidewalk so you have to walk in the grass to get to the entrance as long as it's not being blocked by the numerous carts of dirty bed linens, dirty towels, and bags of garbage one cart with dirty towels stayed on the sidewalk our entire trip of four days. Bring your own items for breakfast or be prepared to spend $10-$30 at the nearby restaurants for it since the hotel doesn't offer breakfast like it used to.

Our family just got back from staying at the Beach and Bay and we will never be coming back. First, we were charged almost double from what we were quoted when we made our reservation and from the price on their website. They supposedly have the phone call recorded where they gave us the quote but they refused to let us listen to it. So we were stuck paying double due to their cancellation policy and their mistake. But what did we get for paying double? No continental breakfast, a hot tub with algae in it, a broken dead bolt lock on the door, nails sticking out under the door that we had to keep our baby away from, a balcony light that didn’t work and a blow dryer that looked and sounded like it was going to catch fire. On top of all that, the front staff is extremely rude. We called cooperate and they ignored all our concerns.
Spend your money elsewhere!

I was nervous about Mackinaw Beach & Bay based on the reviews. But I wanted to stay in the area and hotels were either rented, or so expensive I couldn't stay there. I was relived to find that things have seemed to improved, First know that hotel is dated. It could also use a pressure washing to remove the cobwebs off the building. The reception staff was awesome, always tried to help. They were up front about housekeeping only upon request. The room were clean, and we had plenty of towels, etc. This is actually two rooms, the "front" room which oddly had a extra bed in it, plus the bedroom. Great place to watch the fireworks and we enjoyed watching the families and kids with the bon fires at night on the beach. I would stay there again.

We spent 3 nights at the Beach and Bay. We had a Deluxe room with lake view. The room had a couch and queen bed in one room and a comfortable king bed in the other. There is no door between the rooms but are seperated by the bath and breakfast bar.
There is a small table with two chairs and a tv in each room. The room has a microwave, small fridge and coffee maker.
The room was clean and stocked with towels and coffee. The front desk staff was helpful and informative. We had an issue with a television and a technician was sent up within 10 minutes. Housekeeping is available on request or you can pick up clean towels at the front desk.
There is a great view of Mackinac Island. the Bridge, Lake Huron and the ferries coming in and out. There are chairs and fire pits on the beach.
The Beach and Bay is not a five star resort, but for the price, we had a clean room that had everything we needed.
The ferry and town are about a 15 minute walk away. We decided to park at the ferry free parking, when heading to the island, which is about a five minute drive.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again.
