This is a wonderful older resort that is very peaceful. The Manison is a beautiful building that is well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. About 2 miles from town, it makes for a nice walk. The only downside to this resort is that one glass of wine or mixed drink cost $11. Way to pricey.

I've always admired this place for the beauty of its mansion, the tranquility and expanse of its grounds, and for how different the whole experience is on the more remote part of the island. It's just a unique, woodsy, quiet setting for those island visitors looking for a more peaceful and relaxed overnight stay. My wife and I simply loved...

This hotel is a little extra hike up the hill (about one mile from the main drag) but it is worth every extra peddle/step! It is the most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in on the island... and I've been to a LOT of hotels and B&Bs (including the Grand.) The only part where they're lacking is the breakfast... it...

The Inn at Stonecliff is located 1.7 miles from the ferry docks on the western end of the island. It is an easy 35 minute walk or you can take the Inn's hourly shuttle or perhaps rent a bike downtown or at the inn. The inn is located in a secluded area, away from the hustle and bustle closer to...

We had a great stay. Staff were all very friendly! It is pretty far out of town, so I was thankful we had our bikes (bring a light on your bike....it's dark coming home). Secluded and very quiet, peaceful atmosphere.

The Inn at Stonecliffe was beautiful and very peaceful. After a full day of sightseeing the island, it was perfect. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The breakfast buffet offered a nice selection and the attendants in the dining room were delightful! The grounds at Stonecliffe were lovely and very welcoming with all the lilacs blooming. Just perfect!

Stayed two nights at the Inn at Stonecliff. Enjoyed the grounds that are incredibly beautiful and well maintained. The staff was very competent and pleasant. We stayed in the Summer House and the room was very spacious. There is upkeep needed with areas that weren't painted (seemed forgotten), a loose faucet and a sliding patio door that wouldn't lock. The...

attentive staff (very attentive). surroundings are perfect....all a good time. Luggage was lost by the ferry company but stonecliffe's staff did everything they could to help find the luggage. I first saw stonecliffe in the summer of 1974. It was not in use at that time. I had friend's who were workers on the island and they had somehow come...

On the quiet side of the Island, very nice room and balcony with view of lake. Only drawback was difficulty getting horse taxis when we needed them. Breakfast in the mansion was a treat. There is a short walk to sunset point.

If you live near Mackinac Island and are looking for a secluded getaway, then this is your place. Quiet, comfortable, and scenic, it is a nice place to escape the hectic pace of the modern world. I can only recommend for local travelers. I traveled here for a wedding and due to the remote location of both the island and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Inn at Stonecliffe enjoys a storied place in Mackinac Island history. Built in 1904 as a family summer escape by industrialist Michael Cudahy, Stonecliffe has enchanted guests for nearly half a century. Situated high on the west bluff, Inn at Stonecliffe lodging comprises a classic Tudor-style mansion that offers 16 bed and breakfast style guest rooms, and the more modern Summer House Suites, with 31 richly appointed suites decorated in a classic summer cottage style with a light Victorian influence. Overnight visitors to Mackinac Island often observe that the best time to enjoy the island is in the early morning or late evening when the last ferry has carried the daily visitors back to the mainland. At The Inn at Stonecliffe, you’ll enjoy that feeling every moment of your stay. Anywhere you turn, tranquility and relaxation await, from the breathtaking bluff-top views of the Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Bridge to the Inn’s lush, rolling lawns.Special Services and / or Features: • Breakfast Included• Air Conditioning• Onsite Dining and Cocktail Lounge• Weddings and Events• Kitchenettes• Bike Rentals • Cable Television• Outdoor Heated Pool• Private Baths• Telephones• Complimentary Wireless Internet• Non Smoking ... more   less
