The place is old, but the rooms are well maintained, and clean. It is our favorite place to stay on the island. The food is very good also. Just sitting out on the front lawn, or the porch, is a pleasure.

Built in 1852, Island House Hotel undoubtedly has an old world feel. It can be a challenge to maintain the balance between staying true to the historic architecture and simultaneously meeting modern expectations. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again.

Our stay at the Island with our daughters was a memorable experience. The Island House was the perfect setting for our return visit to Mackinac Island. Our suite was elegant, comfortable and very clean. The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. We truly felt like royalty. The highlight was sitting on the cozy porch, sipping wine and watching the beautiful...

This was the first visit to the island for three of our grandchildren. Certainly the usual Mackinaw Island mainstays excited the kids and reignited our interest and that of our accompanying children. Horses, carriages, wooden structures, absence of cars and historic sites were all part of the event. The Island House was an important part of this introductory trip. The...

Thank you for the eloquently written review. What an honor for us to have been the location for your grandchildren's first Mackinac Island visit and the memories that you and your children made with them while staying here. We hope that you and your loved ones will call us home during your next Mackinac Island visit as well.

So relaxing. Every night after making S'mores, my kids and I would sit out on the porch a play board games until the sun went down-around 1045pm! Located just a few minutes walk to town, but far enough away to avoid the hustle & bustle or waking up to the fragrance of horse droppings. Pool house was great, hot tub...

Island House Hotel is a great place for making family memories. We are glad that you enjoyed the convenience of the hotel location and the amenities. We regularly evaluate the hours of the hotel restaurants to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our guests. Unfortunately, the Ice House Bar is rarely busy enough to keep it open later....

We stayed 3 nights at the Island House over 4th of July. Even though our room was small it was very comfortable quiet and clean. Staff was very friendly. Whether it was sitting on the porch watching people and the boats, making smores by the fire, or sightseeing it was very relaxing. I will definitely go again and stay longer.

The hotel was built in 1852 during a simpler time when smaller rooms met the needs of travelers. Make no mistake, what we lack in size we make up in old world charm. We appreciate that you have taken the time to see past the room size to find the many other reasons that make Island House special. We look...

My husband and I have stayed at the Island House Hotel twice. Once on our honeymoon and again on our 30 year anniversary. Love the location, the view, the restaurant. We have recommended this hotel to others and they were not disappointed.

Friendly, courteous and proficient staff. Older facility but comfortable and functional. Banquet dinner was excellent. On the main drive and close to downtown. Across from public marina and docks for private boaters and sailers.

Very clean room and bathroom. Decor was dated, but could be overlooked because of the cleanliness. The staff was helpful, courteous and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. You can rent bikes right out front to tour the island.

Since 1852, guests at the historic Island House Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan have enjoyed the escape to a simpler time. Disembarking on the island is truly like stepping back in time. Motor traffic is prohibited on the island, making walking, biking, and horse-drawn carriages the preferred modes of transportation. This family owned National Historic Landmark offers modern conveniences within a historic setting. “Make sure when you take advantage of a package, check to see if it is per night, or per reservation. I stayed multiple nights, as the offer was per night. When I arrived, they didn't want to honor it. I was fortunate enough to have printed off the offer and reservation and brought it with me. ”
