My wife and I have stayed at this hotel on Mackinac Island many times. It is our preferred place for a clean, cozy room with a very comfortable King Size bed. The hotel staff is great and very helpful. They are efficient all through the check in process and always willing to help. In fact the Kuerig coffee maker in...

We recently stayed overnight at the Chippewa. There were 10 in our group and we reserved 5 rooms. The staff did a fantastic job coordinating our arrival and departure in regards to baggage and ferry schedule. They are masterful at taking care of logistics for novice travelers to the island, such as us.

The staff was wonderful. Housekeeping came stopped by in the evening to offer cookies and milk, what a sweet touch. Beautiful room. Loved our breakfast and dinner, but the breakfast buffet was not hot and fair. Music in the pink pony was an added bonus as the evening was cool and rainy.

Pros: location was phenomenal, room layout was superb, price was good for location, offered some good package stays. Cons: floors creaked...a lot so as the hotel gets more visitors it will be noisy, the hotel staff is fairly disorganized right now. I think that will improve as they get into the swing of the season, but right now, they don't...

This was our first trip to the island and thanks to all the staff at the Chippewa, it was a memorable one. We had a Harbor View suite on the 3rd floor which was much more than I expected when we booked it the same day! We had 2 queen beds, a suite w/ comfortable stuffed chairs, a pullout Sofia,...

The Chippewa is a sister hotel to the Lilac Tree, just down the road toward the ferry lending. Rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable. Try to get a balcony. Service is great, people friendly and a stop at the pink pony lounge for a pre-dinner cocktail before dining on the lakeside patio leads to good conversation and good times.

Felt this was a little high priced for the value of the room, I feel the Chippewa is in need of updating some of the accommodations. We would rather stay on land next time and just visit the island for the day it is more cost effective and cleaner hotels.

Hi Rochelle, Thank you for your review during your stay in August. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our rooms and the friendliness of our staff. You will find lower rates in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace, but you won't experience the charm of staying at a Victorian Style Hotel overnight on Mackinac Island. Also, our rates our seasonal....

Brought the whole family (My wife and I, 3 kids, grandma and grandpa) and stayed in the very spacious harbor view two bedroom suite on the 3rd floor. Even with 7 of us in the room it never felt cramped. The view was awesome, and we all enjoyed siting on the balcony and watching the boats come and go, the...

Nice old hotel with lots of rustic items. It looks old, but, after all, it is old. People were friendly, both patrons and employees. We enjoyed our time there and hope to go again someday. The island is beautiful.

My family stayed in a large 2-room suite upstairs. There were 2 beds in the bedroom and a huge living room with sofa sleeper and kitchenette, dining table, etc. We needed an extra sleeping option so we ordered a cot prior to arrival and it was already in the living room when we arrived. During the day we closed up...
