Mission Point Resort offers a quaint atmosphere that many guests find welcoming, particularly highlighting the comfortable outdoor areas and lobby. While the service quality receives mixed reviews—with some guests praising the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, others have had less positive interactions. Room cleanliness generally earns high marks, though the size and consistency vary, with some rooms described as small yet charming. The resort's amenities, including its dining options and activities, are appreciated, although there are comments about dated facilities and the rooms' modest dimensions. Despite this, some travelers feel the resort is overpriced, questioning the value for the cost.

The hotel grounds are gorgeous and the price is much better than the grand hotel.

Restaurants are very nice (especially the one on the golf course) and the coffee shop in our building was a plus even if the staff seemed overwhelmed and ornery.

Bike rentals were sold out early, even on a weekday in august so be prepared.

We reserved a family suite. I wish I had known just how small our room would be and that perhaps getting it discounted on Expedia could have been why the location was undesirable. Two small bedrooms with just beds ; very little furniture otherwise (no chairs to sit in whatsoever). A single bathroom to share where your knees hit the door when you close it. Two window unit air conditioners (so room was very dark no natural light) and we backed up to the woods that seemed to have some garbage in it when we looked out the window above the AC units.

Would stay at this hotel again, but never in this type of room. Peeked into some rooms down the hall during maid service that looked so much nicer.

Room clean and neat but very small. There is a coffee pot but no clock! Microwave and refrigerator can be found in the closet. There are lots of stairs in this hotel. There is a small elevator but the hotel is set up with a "split level" system so while the elevator make take you to your floor, you stillhave to climb 2-4 stairs to get to the hallway where your room is.. There are lots of twists and turns in this hotel so be prepared to do a fair amount of walking. There are very few electrical outlets and for those who use a CPAP or other electrical device at night, it would be prudent to take along an extension cord. This is one hotel that still uses keys rather than the digital cards There are limited options for food. Do NOT go to the Boxwood Coffeeshop and Cafe which is located on a lower level of the hotel. They don't mark the cost of their items and every thing is very overpriced. For a sandwich and 20 oz bottle of Coke, Ispent $22.

My wife and I have stayed at Mission Point 6 times now and there is good reason we keep coming back, the hotel is wonderful and staff all around are great. Our favorite restaurant Chianti is here as well and again we had an amazing time dining there. The Round Island Kitchen is also great for breakfast and is more reasonable than the ones in town (can't say I agree with the $7.00 up charge if sharing a plate as the serving are way too much for one person). The rooms are small and quaint but have everything we need to be comfortable. see you next year:)

I was a little disappointed with the resort accommodations. We stayed in the straights lodge in a two bedroom. I expected a small common area or a little more room but the pictures online were minimal. It’s literally just two bedrooms and the tiniest bathroom. The worst part is that the building itself is really old and dated. This results in being able to hear every person walking on your floor and the floor above , every door creaking and slamming, every step of the stairwell creaking and being able to hear every person on the floor. We had a lot of the midgies bugs in our room as well, I think they come thru the crack around our window air unit. It also said it is pet friendly which was not an issue at all but I think a lot of families with kids choose to stay there which also adds another volume of loudness in the building. Had I known all of this I would have chosen the main lodge, however I don’t think they had the type of room we wanted. The pool was supposed to be heated but was pretty cold. The bike rentals were cheaper there than in town and it was a really easy process. And they pick up and deliver your bags to the ferry. Bartender in the hall bar was great but can’t remember her name. Restaurant inside, Round kitchen, was not good for breakfast and service was horrible. We were also charges someone’s meal to our room so watch your charges it apparently happens a lot.

Our first time in Mackinac and we stayed at Mission Point over the Fourth of July during a covid year. We loved the location of Mission Point- a mile outside of downtown and has the best places to sit and relax on Lake Huron. The room was small (two beds) and had an AC window unit so you know it’s old. The pool was very small, but we are used to resort pools (Fairmont, JW). The pool can fit maybe 20 people max. There are not enough seats for everyone. You can order and bring food and drinks from inside to the pool but there isn’t anyone picking up dirty plates/glasses. I would say that if you want a nice pool then stay at the Grand Hotel. The food was mediocre but we ate here often bc it was convenient. Overall the outside amenities are nice- well kept grounds, nice view of Lake Huron with Adirondack chairs, away from the bustle and bustle. It’s also on the opposite end of the island where the fireworks are. We walked to town every day. We loved Mackinac and plan to be back but not sure we will stay here again. Not terrible but not fantastic.

Resort lobby and main restaurant are recently renovated and best spaces in hotel. Booked family suite (one king and two queens) and was very disappointed with the view (concrete wall with ivy in alley) and bathroom was tiny. Round Barn restaurant serves great breakfast (although very slow) and dinner at night is horrendous. Burrata appetizer served with anchovies dressing that looked like cat food and white fish dinner that was clearly old (smelled fishy - gross). Activists are few and far between and those that are “available” are closed on certain days. This resort could be more organized and food quality can be improved.

Mission Point is a resort in transition. There are issues such as burnt out light bulbs, electrical outlets that don't work and blowing a circuit by running the microwave and coffee machine at the same time.

That said, we were disappointed that though we had a reservation for three nights, we had to move to get the lake view room in the Main Lodge we had requested. Not to worry, front desk host, Shequeira helped out by being extremely pleasant, and confirming that we would have a seamless move from the Straights Lodge, not having to worry about our luggage. She was exactly correct. She and front desk clerk Tamika made our stay so much more comfortable by being extremely helpful and smiling at all times. After staying at The Grand for literally decades, and most recently dealing with ambivalent staff, Mission Point was a breath of fresh air. Kudos to Shequeira and Tamika for making our stay much better than could be asked!

My husband and I loved staying here! The lodge area is very comfortable for just sitting and relaxing with 5 fireplaces going 24/7. The folks working here are very friendly and helpful. Food was good as well in all the restaurants. They have their own dedicated horse and buggy that leaves every half hour to go into or come back from town. Its only a short 15 minute ride into town though. We had the smallest queen room they offer and even though it was tight in there, it was still comfortable and they had a portable air conditioner that kept the room very comfortable. We had massages at their Aveda Spa and it was excellent! Would not want to stay anywhere else if we are fortunate enough to come back.

This resort is very beautiful and away from the craziness of the main street. It has a beautiful lobby and grounds and canopied lane with trees. We had breakfast at the Round Island and it was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our party enjoyed the bed and breakfast package and had a room in the Straits Lodge and the Main Lodge. The rooms in the Straits Lodge were adequate, although a little worn down. It felt a bit like an old dormitory or Christian youth camp. I think maybe I’d stay in the Main Lodge. My dad stayed in the Main Lodge and enjoyed his stay except for some guests who were smoking. The staff did try to ventilate well to clear out the smoke smell.

Some thoughts if you are deciding on lodging: I liked this location better than the Grand Hotel. The Grand Hotel has quite an uphill walk to return. This hotel is a longish walk to/from town but if you rent bikes for your stay, it is simply delightful to hop on your bike and ride into town and it’s pretty much a flat ride there and back. Bikes can be rented at the resort for $6 cheaper per day than the prices we saw in town. We also made sure to do our bike ride around the island during the morning and evening when temperatures were cooler and the daytrippers had left.

I would also recommend paying attention to your bill and keeping your restaurant receipts. We found several problems with our bill but since I hadn’t kept my restaurant receipts, I couldn’t tell for sure what was and wasn’t valid.

When in doubt, ask the resort. During previous visits, we had cocktails (beer, wine, alcohol) we brought to our seats. Before walking around town with anything, ask a police officer in town.

Yes, it is a very large property. I don’t think you can smoke on the patios adjacent to the hotel, but there are plenty of park-like areas. There is also a very large lawn adjacent to the Straights and the hotel has set-up Adirondack chairs.
