This was our first time camping in the US, having always camped in Canada. Did we ever pick the perfect first place to camp at in the States! The location right on Lake Michigan is perfect and the dunes there are spectacular. We had beautiful weather with warm temperatures every day, and spectacular sunsets at night. The bike trails are...

We got a very clear and sunny sky so we stayed till sunset and experienced the most amazing sunset of our lives. Very well maintained beach and a popular state park. I would try to avoid public holidays for a more peaceful experience.

The most amazing State Park in the US. We have traveled to many and this tops them all. The park is clean, over 300 various size lots with water and electricity, has wonderfully marked trails and is flanked by both Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake. Hamlin Lake is a man made lake built with a damn that has a walkway...

Very nice for winter camping. Although bathrooms are NOT open, only pit toilets. Water is available at the bathrooms & electric at campsites. We love this campground for the hiking trails......a chilly hike to the beautiful lighthouse (be dressed warm, it's almost a mile walk) wonderful trail along both sides of the river & also up to the top of...

I visited with my family in the Fall. This is a very nice clean state park, and the campground looked good although we didn't stay there. It's certainly a popular place to be! We hiked the Lost Lake Trail and enjoyed it immensely. Our six year old daughter found many things to keep it interesting, and it was very scenic....

We are campers, and this is one of the nicest State Patks in Michigan. It is clean, spacious and the amenities - bike trails, nature programs, camp store, hiking trails, etc. are top notch. The views from the top of the elevated trails are spectacular. The lighthouse is very picturesque, and the docents are knowledable.

My favorite state park to camp at. The hiking trails are beautiful, be sure to check them out. Walk to the lighthouse too, and enjoy fantastic sunsets on Lake Michigan. Take a kayak out onto Hamlin Lake, and go tubing down the river into Lake Michigan. Definitely recommend!

Dear Michigan, just can't get over that Ludington State Park has a sand mining operation inside its boundaries. Michiganders, WAKE UP! Our Michigan coastline is irreplaceable. Shame on Michigan for allowing this to happen. It ruined my trip.

This State park is extraordinary in every way. The beach on Lake Michigan is the best in the state. The many trails and views are truly inspiring and enjoyable. Camping is awesome at this park. The new changing station/building at the beach is well appointed and conveniently located. If you want a relaxing vacation this is the place to go!

We used this 5 night stop as the main destination in our recent 2 week round trip from NH and it did not disappoint. The sites are nice, a little close to your neighbor but it can be managed. The camp store was very convenient and the beach was incredible. We are already figuring out how to get back here...
