Nice park. A bit off the beaten path but good and fairly close to several points of interest. Would definitly go there again. Some of the campsites were fairly open lacking privacybut I guess that can be typical anywhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed my camping experience I camped from September 20th and left on the 25th. I had to wait one night and move so I could get a Lakeside site it was SO worth it. It was quiet and peaceful, beautiful sunsets and sunrises watching the waves and picking rocks on the beach directly across from my site! I...

The showers could use an upgrade but the view made up for it. The lighthouse access was easy and the DNR were very helpful. We were wanting to see the aurora but found out they had came in the week before, the only disappointment.

While some people have complaints about the park it seems they forget they are there to camp and be in nature...nature shouldn't conform to you. That being said, the park was crowded the first night but thinned out after Labor Day which was perfect. No loud, drunk groups of people, thankfully. The facilities are acceptable, especially for being a park....

Nice campground with a terrific view. The campsites were adequate and layed out well. The bathroom/showers could use a minor update, but served their purpose. Would definitely recommend this campground to others.

We stayed at 2 different campsites while at this beautiful state park. Both were spacious, wooded and had poured pads for our camper. The site we had right on Lake Superior was so large, we had to borrow a cable from the office. (we have 2, but they weren't long enough!). The office was always helpful, suggesting areas for kayaking,...

We can here in July on a last minute switch. We were not planning on be here but we're extremely happy once we arrived. The entire campground is very close to the lake with nice shady sites. The beach is a little bit of a walk but you can go down to the lake anywhere just doesn't have much sand.

The campground at McLain is perched on a cliff overlooking Lake Superior which gave it stunning views especially at sunrise and sunset (yes, you get beautiful views of both here). But, being set on a cliff has some disadvantages, namely, part of the road has fallen into Lake Superior and is obviously closed. What this means for you as a...

I will start by saying the campground wasn't horrendous, the bathrooms and showers were clean. It is however a very busy campground. It is open to the public for day use so there were a lot of people there. I really wanted a site that overlooked Lake Superior and we sort of got one, it was site 31 but not...

Great camping sites with beautiful views, some shore line erosion had closed a few sites. Known for great sunsets and quiet. Concessions and small store open daylight hours. Would have rated higher but no dog area on the over mile shoreline.
