I've stayed at a wide variety of Hotels/Motels in the Charlevoix/Petoskey/Boyne area over the years, and the Weathervane is not only my favorite, but is now the only place I'll stay. The Lake Michigan Suites are wonderful with a fireplace, small kitchen, plenty of room, and a Balcony with a Lake view. The location couldn't be more perfect not only for exploring Charlevoix, but also as a staging point for any other adventure in the area (especially Skiing). Yes, it's an older property, and with that in mind could use a little TLC here and there, BUT, it's clean, the showers have great water pressure (no slimy treated water), there are two TV's in the Suite (Bed/Living room), and the Kitchenette is wonderful for preparing quick meals when you'd rather spend money on adventures than restaurants throughout your trip. The continental breakfast is well stocked with the usual fare as well as having a waffle maker (one of the first places I've seen one at years ago). Literally a 5 minute walk to the beach, or into town. Highly recommended!

We booked the Weathervane for 2 nights. Our room had a small kitchenette, a fireplace with a duraflame log and a balcony off of the bedroom with a partial view of the lake. The bed was comfortable, the front desk was very helpful and the location was within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Not super updated but clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

over many years, we have been Charlevoix three times, and i would never choose any other lodging then Weathervane. The staff and owner are so pleasant and wanting guests to have a great experience. the rooms-suites- appear to be updated more recently. Bathroom and kitchenette very good condition with everything you need for a few day stay. Balcony had view of Lake Mich- chairs and table were perfect. due to covid, they explained housekeeping that would be done or not done. only wish was that somehow they tagged or sealed rooms to tell us that a thorough cleaning is done between guests. recommend a stay here. this is a 100% walkable town from the inn.

The charming town of Charlevoix is enhanced by the boulder builder Earl Young. He erected two Inns, a restaurant and multiple houses called The Mushroom Houses. The Weathervane Terrace Inn is quite exemplary of his work and even if you don’t stay, you should check out his rock work. Our stay was okay. We had a suite room which included a bedroom with a gas fireplace and a balcony. There is a slight view of Lake Michigan. Probably had a better view before the trees grew and condos were built on the lakeshore The main room included a small kitchen nook with range, microwave and medium fridge. Supply of cooking utensils and service for four in the cabinets. The bathroom was very small! They offered a nice complimentary continental breakfast, 7-10. Easy walk to town to find restaurants, markets and shops. One block to the shoreline. Very friendly and helpful staff. If your room is in the three story building ask for a top room as the noise from the ceiling can be loud. There is an elevator. If you stay in the two story buildings, there are only spiral stairs to upper levels.

We stayed at the Weathervane during Venetian Festival at the recommendation of our friends and we were so thankful for the recommendation! The location was perfect, just a quick walk over the bridge (which is a BEAUTIFUL view) and you are downtown and by the water. You can just a quickly walk the pier or go to Lake Michigan Beach. We loved the atmosphere of the hotel. Some say it is a tired property, but we felt like it had so much character. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a Lake Michigan Suite which has a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. Our room was renovated so it felt very modern inside and it had a balcony too. We have already booked out trip back for next year!

Fell back in love with Charlevoix after coming back to Michigan from a winter in Florida. Beautiful Spring weather and the Lake Michigan beaches quiet solitude. Bicycling through the well kept neighborhoods in search of the array of mushroom houses and of course the girls with their shopping excursions That's ok us boys found the perfect place for craft beers The Bridgeview Tavern

I've stayed at the weathervane suites for many years, it's a good value within walking distance to downtown charleviox. That being said the whole complex needs a upgrade, everything works but it needs more than paint and carpet, but start with that. Breakfast is well, basic. It use to be better. Staff are friendly, and location is perfect, just wish they would upgrade instead of patch

It has a great location at this landmark hotel. Convenient, clean and consistent service. Has grab and go breakfast food. It has great views of the channel,round lake and can easily walk to the pier on Lake Michigan for beautiful sunsets. The Weathervane restaurant has beautiful outdoor deck seating over the channel for reasonable prices and great food.

I chose this hotel for its location. It did not disappoint. We were on the first floor, and you could see the lake from our balcony. It is easy walking distance into town to eat and shop and view the mushroom houses. We had a spacious room with a king bed, and there is plenty of parking. The room was relatively clean when we arrived. Now for the downside—the bathrooms really need updating. This place is showing its age. There was a tiny shower with a huge jetted tub that we did not use. The toilet is in a very depressing little room, and you have to close the door because there is only a pull down screen separating the tub from the room. You can hear everything going on in the bathroom. Some of the tiles were cracked. Housekeeping only replaced towels two of the four nights. No trash was emptied, and the bed was made once. The room and bathroom needed some cleaning after we used it. Our room was near the ice maker. You could hear it through the night. We could also hear noise from other rooms. The breakfast was sad, and we just grabbed bananas and bought tasty pastries and coffee in town. The restaurant across from the hotel did not take reservations and would not put us on the list one night and told us a 2 hour wait another night. I would not stay here again.

Due to the great hospitality, location and weather, we like to come back to the Weathervane Terrace in the early Fall every year as the tree colors are starting to peak. U. S. Submarine Veterans ESCOLAR Base meets in various locations around the state four times a year. This is one of our regular and most popular venues.

It's about an hour away for Mackinaw City. It was just an enjoyable experience, close to the shops, it had a nice restaurant, the staff was super nice! It just reminded of a place that my family would have gone to when we were younger. It's one of a kind.
There are more places to choose from in the Charlevoix area.
