We are not really keen on caravan parks as we are set up for independent camping but this not really possible to do on the Sapphire Coast as we have a dog. Staying at Kalaru CP was very peaceful and relaxing. It’s in a great location and is ideally close to Tathra, Tura Beach and Merimbula.

We truly appreciated the wonderful camp kitchen which made our stay much easier to wash our dishes. The park is very well kept, it’s clean, tidy and the staff are friendly and accommodating.

The amenities are perfectly fine and negative reviews are not warranted.

The only issue for us was poor TV reception which is nothing to do with the park.

We found staying at Kalaru CP was the next best thing to independent camping and we would happily stay here again. 😊

Clean, budget accommodation. The cabin was equipped with all the essentials - linen, cooking equipment etc. The bed was comfy. I arrived after hours and the process to pick up the key and get through the boom gates was easy. Although there are more scenic places to stay in nearby seaside towns, Kalaru was cheap and conveniently located to national parks and the coast. Because it was outside of school holiday time, the park was quiet, but I can imagine it is a busy place in mid-Summer.

This was probably the best park we have stayed at during our coastal trip from Maroochydore to Melbourne. The site is perfect, clean, spacious with good free wifi. We will definitely camp here again. Highly recommend.

We were fortunate to purchase a 10 night stay via Travel Auctions and had been warned by friends that the park had received poor reviews, in particular the condition of the amenities. Therefore our expectations were low. What we found was a park in a peaceful setting, some large grassy sites and friendly and accommodating managers. The park surrounds were being continuously and actively maintained during our stay. It is an old park and the amenities blocks are in need of updating although new toilets have been installed. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the shower and toilet block did leave a lot to be desired.
Location ok, 10 Min drive to Tathra or 30 Min drive to Bega. Not a lot within walking distance of the park.

We enjoyed the Easter break at Kalaru in our caravan with 2 other families and their vans . We have seen a few bad reveiws, most are not justified. As far as Park Management goes its all good. Ammeneties are dated but were clean. Park is quiet and sites are large. We did not have any issues whilst we were there. On the con side there is a few issues with the Laundry machines that need attention / replacement, also a Permenant Resident who has flags flying on her unit tends to yell at guests if she deems they are driving too fast. Perhps she should be moved to a "quieter" part of the park at the back and not on the main road into the Caravan Sites so as not to terrify unwary guests. Perhaps she doesnt realise without Guests the park may close.

Friends and I stayed at Kalaru holiday park for a night on our way from Kosciusko National Park to Jervis Bay. Check in was easy, with clear instructions. We were arriving outside check in hours.
The cabin was clean and tidy, and the other facilities were easy to access. The kiosk offered a delicious variety of food, and the coffee the following morning was great. I’d definitely recommend this place for a stop over.

What a great park, huge sites with green grass and shade, great pool and spotless amenities. Jumping pillow for the kids, pet chickens and parrots. Just loved it. Both powered and unpowered sites, and a camp kitchen with microwave, sink, fridge and TV. Activities for the kids in peak season and a small playground too, all in a great location 5 minutes from Tathra.

Lovely lush green, shady sites. Have an off leash dog run which was great. Close to Tathra beach, and all of sapphire coast. Service was great. They have an on-site cafe which has great food and huge serving sizes. And dog hitches so your pooch can tag along.

So great to see, a family run Holiday Park at an affordable price. We just wanted somewhere to park our campervan for the night and have a hot shower. We got that with a country outlook, away from the main roads and suburbia. Having declined the offer of paying $50 for an unpowered site down the road at Tathra at two different caravan parks, we were pleasantly surprised that just 4km up the road the Kalaru Holiday Park were offering just what we wanted, an unpowered site for $20. The service was great, the check-in process simple and free WiFi thrown into the mix. The camp kitchen was well catered for, and while we did'nt have a dog, those too were welcome. Good on you Kalaru Holiday Park. If we are ever down your way again we will be back. many thanks..... Michelle and Terry

What a gem! Just out of Tathra in a beautiful setting and so peaceful. Big grassy sites and great amenities. Management were so friendly and they were very helpful when we had issues with our van. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. There’s so much to see and do on the Sapphire coast and this is a great base.
