Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Nutkin Lodge. It provided a warm, & cosy hideaway from the winter weather during our walk from Perth to Albany. Linda was most helpful in organising a delicious hamper for dinner.

Suite was spacious & comfortable with beautiful views out over the fields & forrest.

We would thoroughly recommended for those looking for a relaxing stay away from the crowds.

The hosts are the most wonderful people. At one with nature, the chalets look out over a coastal plain, over a green field of sheep and kangaroos, out to the ocean. Magical, in every sense of the word. Excellent value and an excellent experience that I will remember for a long time. I will be returning.

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying in one of Nutkin Lodge's cottages in late October. It was very special. It is rare to find such quality accommodation in the region. This place had quality in spades. And the kangaroos!? Never, in my life have I seen so many roos against a backdrop of fields and ocean glimpses. Beautiful grounds. Beautiful property. Only the sounds of birds, the roar of the ocean in the distance and the quiet munching of kangaroos.

Every night we gathered on the deck to take in the sweeping view, beholden to a field of kangaroos before us. On each and every night, there were between 22 and 26 adult kangaroos. Some came close to our cabin. Others were more cautious. And those figures don't include the joeys! Most of the girl roos were carrying a joey in their pouch. The joeys would climb out and bounce around with joy, before returning to the safety of their mothers. The kangaroos were utterly magical. We were transfixed.

The quality of the property matched the views. Attention to detail was patent at every turn. Immaculately clean. Three bedrooms. Beds made beautifully. An array of goodies laid out for breakfast. Chocolates on our towels laid out in the bedroom. Slippers. Quality soaps. Ethical products. Tasteful. A plethora of tourist information provided about the region. Perfect. Fantastic hot shower. Spotless bathroom. Amazing attention to detail and a real tribute to the host. Kitchen kitted out brilliantly.

Nutkin Lodge is perfectly positioned to enjoy everything the region has to offer. The Valley of the Giants Tree-Top Walk is a short distance away, as is the Giant Red Tingle Tree and Circular Pool.Take a short drive to Walpole and take a WOW Wilderness Tour across the Walpole and Nornalup Inlets. Drive to Mount Clare and take one of many walks through the forest. Head to Fernhook Falls or climb Mount Frankland. Take in Mandalay Beach and read the story of the shipwreck.

Only gripe - for romance and lovers, an open fire or a slow-burning stove would have topped it off perfectly. Notwithstanding, heating is provided.

Confession - my partner and I are Walpole/Nornalup devotees and visit the region at least twice a year. This was the BEST accommodation we have ever stayed at in the region.

This place was great. We dropped in on the off chance of getting a room and were very pleased we did. The self contained unit was new and well equipped. The attention of detail was second to none. We could have turned up without any luggage and not been without. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking meals.

It was spotless and well maintained. Board games had even been provided.

It is well out of town though. Travellers should bring their own food, though arrangements can be made to have some delivered through the owners. Breakfast supplies are provided in the unit, even eggs. However, you will need to bring your own bread, as the owners can't get it delivered to the Lodge.

Linda was very helpful and accommodating and a great source of information. It was brilliant to come home in the evening and wake up in the morning to see kangaroos grazing in the front lawn and lorikeets in the trees.

This is a wonderful place to get away for a break and to explore the south coast area. It is located between Denmark and Walpole, very close to the Valley of the Giants and the treetop walk.
The units are new and set in a pleasant natural environment. They are spotlessly clean and have quality furniture - real, solid wood.
We stayed in the Possum's Place unit pictured on their website and it is just as it is shown in the photos.
The Possum's Place units don't have an inside dining table, but have stools at the breakfast bar or you can eat at the large coffee table in the lounge area. In warmer weather, you could eat at the outdoor table on the verandah, particularly if you have cooked on the barbecue, which is in its own shelter out of the weather.
The units contain all of the extras, many unexpected; the drawers in the TV cabinet even contain toys and board games.
There are full cooking facilities with all the utensils you need, microwave and stove with oven and a full size fridge.
Breakfast was supplied for the first morning. There were a range of cereals, eggs, fruit, a few slices of bread with spreads and the usual tea, coffee and sugar. All other food you will have to bring yourself and there isn't a shop next door although you could get some things at the Peaceful Bay store. We were prepared for this and took some precooked meals for dinner.

What a fabulous find. We were looking for an alternative place to stop and break up our hike in foul weather and stumbled on this absolute gem. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Their establishment is perfect with a big spacious suite with ensuite facilities, kitchen with everything, clean and very well appointed facilities all round. Everything you need for a short or extended stay. Spectacular view from the balcony. Close to other attractions. Highly recommend it as a quiet retreat with everything you might need.
