Awesome stay at Tara Cottages. Perfectly appointed for a short stay. Super clean. Comfy beds. Our kids loved meeting & feeding the property’s animals. Kathy is a warm and genuine host and the amazing breakfast hamper was so generous we couldn’t finish it all! Delicious platter on arrival was very much appreciated too. Being pet friendly was a huge bonus - our dog very happy he wasn’t left at home. Guildford is a quaint little town close to lots of local sights and great cafes/restaurants. Highly recommend Tara Cottages for a delightful weekend away. Pic of sunset at Guildford lookout.
Tara is a wonderful place to day, and Kathy is a fantastic host! The antipasto platter awaiting us on arrival was quite delicious, sitting on the front verandah amongst the beautiful gardens, snacking on the platter and enjoying a drink was most relaxing. The breakfast player was also delicious, with fresh bacon, eggs, Muesli and amazing fresh baked bread amongst other delights. Castlemaine and Daylesford are quite close by car, as is Mt Franklin. The walk from Tara to the general store and pub, or a little further to the lookout is very good too. Thanks Kathy!
From the start Kathy was an excellent communicator, helping me with altering dates, through to booking our long lunch at a local vineyard. On our arrival, she introduced herself, chatted to us, lit our NedKellyfire, and handed us probably the most impressive antipasto platter I’ve seen . Later Kathy presented us with an enormous tray of fresh home baked bread, her hen’s eggs, bacon, muesli, milk, apple juice, fruit, salmon, avocado, the list goes on. Come Saturday she drove us to the vineyard and later picked us up, gave us some local wine knowledge, then , after introducing us to her family, made sure we had enough provisions for the next morning . I can’t rate this B&B highly enough. We’ll be back, thank you, Tony and Jill.
What wonderful hospitality from Kathy! Platters on arrival and an incredible array of breakfast provisions! Tara BnB cottage 2 was the perfect getaway for us. Fire was a lovely addition in the brick cottage. Superb sleep and a lazy Sunday morning. Just what we needed! Thankyou for providing such an experience Kathy!
We booked this cottage as a last minute booking due to Castlemain being booked out due to a convention. Kathy rang me to advise that she was not at the property, but advised where to find the key and to let ourselves in. We were greeted on arrival by Rob, and found the cottage in perfect pristine condition. The host arrived not long afterwards with a platter of cheeses, crackers, olives, dried fruits and nuts, and grapes, which was very nice. In the morning we were presented with a HUGE basket of breakfast provisions - bacon, eggs ,Italian sausages, a fresh loaf of bread, muesli, fruit juice, fresh yogurt with fruit, salmon, mushrooms, avocado, tomatoes, jam, a bottle of milk, We could not eat it all. We would highly recommend this B&B.
Guildford is a delightful small rural town with Tara as one of its best attractions. Rooms are very comfy and the amazing food and service provided are second to none. The owners Kath and Rob are natural hosts and their friendliness and thoughtfulness set this accommodation apart from the others. Our dog was in doggy heaven and Wilson the pig was a real cutie. Impossible to be more impressed. Leonie and Dave and Taz
Kathy and Rob are wonderful hosts. Tara Cottages offer beautifully presented accommodation within the wonderful gardens of the homestead. Generous antipasto later on arrival and breakfast hamper were a highlight. Winter heating from a gorgeous and effective Ned Kelly wood heater. Highly recommended.
Recently under new management, the new owners do a fantastic job of making guests feel welcome and well looked after! The amazing welcome platter when I arrived, and enormous breakfasts are delightful. Rooms are large, beautiful, and well-equipped. The bathroom in the cottage I stayed in was modern and clean. And on a clear night, the skies are incredible. Very little light pollution means you can see so many more stars than you expect! Had a wonderful stay, and I'll definitely be back!
A superb place to unwind. The cottage has every amenity (& the beds are to die for). Fresh bread, homemade relishes & jams - oh & the antipasto platter was delicious. Very cool inside despite hot weather. Seeing the Milky Way at night so clearly & enjoying the evening meals & local music talent at the pub within walking distance-BONUS!
Clean, comfortable, lovely gardens, amazing jam! If visiting cute Guildford in Victoria, Tara B&B is a good option. It is cottage style accommodation - brick adjoining cottages, clean and modern inside. The bathroom is spacious and tidy, the provided breakfast is plentiful. Great bonus - healthy snacks with dips and vegies are also available in the fridge when you arrive - nice work Tara, as people often ready for a cup of tea and snack after driving. Small drawback - it was cold the night we were there, and there was no wood or kindling available for the pot belly fire, which would have been nice - and more romantic!! We used the electric oil heater instead, which warmed the room sufficiently. Tip - If you stay, remember to close the shutters on the high windows, unless you really like early morning light. Lots of quiet nearby walks through adjoining farmland and bush, Castlemaine and Daylesford about half an hour drive away. The home made jam is available for purchase - do buy the feijoa jam, it is incredible, but leave some for me!…
