Ramon was kind enough to set up a nice arrangement of rose petals in my room as me and my fiancé were celebrating our engagement, and Elvis gave great recommendations in regards to activities and places around the area. Cleaning staff was always attentive and ensured we had whatever we needed(towels, soap, etc.) Restaurant/Bar staff were great especially Carlos who made great pina coladas.
The hotel is very small and private with only 19 rooms on the entire property, giving it a very private and tranquil vibe. The beach is pristine and the long boardwalk over the water gives it a very romantic feel especially in the evening.
Although the hotel is not All-Inclusive, we had breakfast included in our package. Food was good with a nice amount of variety on the menu. As far as lunch and dinner are concerned, I would recommend enjoying some great seafood for lunch at La Ensenada beach which is less then 5 minutes away. We enjoyed some lobster with rice, beans, and tostones at Doña Niulka’s Restaurant(Kiosk #17) for lunch(photo included).
An excursion close by and definitely not to be missed is Cayó Arena also known as paradise island. This beautiful cay just off the mainland was voted one of the best beaches in the Caribbean by Forbes Magazine. Unfortunately we could not make it this trip due to hurricane Isiaias but we shall return.
Dinner at the hotel was always very good, most notably the churrasco which was absolutely mouthwatering delicious. The closest international airport to the hotel is Gregorio Luperón International Airport(POP).
Whether you want to enjoy a romantic couples getaway or a nice laid back family vacation, Punta Rucia Lodge is worth the trip.

Perfect welcome from Jeff and his staff, really nice bungalows and very good quality bedding.
The catering is also up to par and you can go eat lobster in the fishing village 800m away.
The staff is really willing and very pleasant... don't forget to take the excursion to Cayo Arena and rather early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
To recommend without hesitation.

The staff is all so friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated Michelle, John, and Victor.
We loved sitting in the shade, watching the ocean, and going in for occasional dips. The water is waist high and very calm. We also went out in the kayak and paddle boards.
Meals were delicious. Saturday dinner was an outside grill on the beach. Everything was served in a leisurely atmosphere. We also had daily afternoon cocktails.
We walked up and down the beach every day and had lunch in Ensenada one day, which was a fun (and delicious) experience. For our Cayo Arena boat ride, we walked south on the beach to the boat docking beach and hired a boat directly from there.
If you are looking for an action-filled vacation with a vibrant nightlife, this isn't the right fit. But if you are looking for a calm and rejuvenating few days, this is the perfect choice.
The bad:
• Hot water lasts all of 2-3 minutes. Like I could get shampoo into my hair with hot water but by the rinse it was cold.
• Pool ran out of beach towels, had to share a single bath towel (you only get 2) to go for a swim which meant we had to share our other single bath towel for showers that night.
• Food is mediocre at best. Overpriced at worst. By the third day we didn't even want to eat the free breakfast. And it was free!
• There's not much to eat off the resort.
• Food is only served at certain hours, if you are hungry at 5pm, you'll have to wait until 7:30pm to order. Bring snacks, especially if traveling with kids.
• Excursions are WAY overpriced. We got a private van transfer from the airport for $265rt (hotel asks $390) and a full day excursion with buffet lunch and unlimited drinks for $50/pp, while hotel charges $65pp with no alcohol and a ham sandwich. Yikes.
The good:
• The bungalows are lovely and private.
• Their beach set up is one of the best I have been to, hands down.
• Very private, enough space so that guests don't feel crowded, you barely see other guests except for meals.
• Very family friendly.
• Free kayaks & paddle boards, water is incredibly calm.
• Wifi is reliable.
Tips:
• Stop at a grocery store on the way to the lodge, there's not much to eat out there.
• Spring for the oceanfront if you can.
• Head down the strip to BlueIsland for lunch whenever possible.
• You can text BlueIsland directly on WhatsApp to schedule an excursion for $50/pp.
• I used Dominican VIP Transfers for $265 rt private van, also booked directly via WhatsApp.

The staff is terrific, but again, I can't think of a reason to ever come back here.

From your very comfy and cozy bungalow, you wake up every morning with a splendid garden and view on the sea with no noises whatsoever, besides the waves and the birds. We can only recommend the place - and if you are ever lucky enough to go there, don’t hesitate to order the piña colada con fruta, they are amazingly good !
