Of course Charlotte Inn is a Relais and Chateau property, located in the charming little village of Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard, all of which tells you it is going to be special. But nothing prepared us for just how special--The Charlotte Inn is not only a wonderful place to stay, it is also almost a museum. Filled to the gills... More

Often you pay top price for an in-season hotel on the Vineyard or Nantucket only to find a disappointing inn and surly staff. Not so at the Charlotte Inn. The inn is centrally located, on a very quiet street, absolutely beautiful with no smell and perhaps the friendliest/helpful/caring staff we have ever encountered. There are parking spaces for loading &... More

Beautiful rooms and grounds, great service, good food and excellent location. There are too many mediocre (and very highly rated) inns and B&B's in Cape Cod and the Islands, and The Charlotte Inn shines above all of these. Expensive but worth it.

I dined at the Charlotte Inn alone. I embarrassingly made the reservation for the wrong date, but when I arrived the staff was wonderfully accommodating and quickly arranged for my unexpected arrival. The service and the fare were well beyond any expectations I may have had. I intend to dine again with my spouse and family as soon as I... More

Stayed during the second week of July with my partner. I usually rely on tripadvisor for many of my travel arrangements, however I believe this hotel's 4 star review lead us astray. As others have noted the hotel is very snooty, and upon my arrival I witnessed a manager/older woman screaming at one of her employees. That did not make... More

Our dining experience at the CI was a treat from start to finish. Our waiter was polished and personable and offered advice about the menu without being pretentious or pushy. We all chose different fare and everyone raved. Does the food taste better because the surroundings are so gorgeous? Who cares? It was just lovely and I highly recommend a... More

The Charlotte Inn is exquisite in every way. Gerrett and Paula are wonderful host and you feel relaxed from the moment you enter the front door. The rooms are beautiful and the dining experience is amazing. The staff are warm and personable and are ready to make your stay enjoyable. Can't wait to return.

8 of us friends rented a house on the Vineyard and we are all foodies from CA, NYC , NJ and AZ and we all agreed that our premier dinning experience was at the Charlotte Inn, from the Carb Ravioli to the unique cocktails this meal sent us to heaven. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Listed as one of the "Top 101 Hotels in the World" by Tatler's 2012 Travel Guide and a long-standing member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux small luxury hotel group, The Charlotte Inn is settled just a half block off Main Street and two blocks from the harbor-front in downtown Edgartown. Among 4 buildings are 17 guest rooms and 2 suites individually decorated with fine antiques in a wonderful English garden setting. The Charlotte Inn provides guests with what we consider the "ultimate luxury" - a glimpse back in time to a more peaceful and restful frame of mind. A visit to The Charlotte Inn - from an overnight or a week vacation - is an opportunity to escape from the hectic, rushed, technology and gadget driven daily routine and enjoy the simpler things life has to offer. With all that Martha's Vineyard has to enjoy as your daily playground - from beaching, boating, fishing, and sightseeing, to fine dining and shopping, to simply strolling along the historic whaling captain’s home lined streets along the harbor and down to the lighthouse, The Charlotte Inn offers our guests a relaxing home away from home to retreat to and an opportunity to cherish life's simpler times. Whether iced-tea on the porch with a good book, chatting with friends and fellow guests on a garden terrace, or enjoying a glass of wine by the fire with your companion in cooler weather, we hope that our guests embrace the opportunity to join us in the experience we work so hard to provide - a getaway from the stress and pressures of today’s fast-paced lifestyle and a chance to enjoy a peaceful reprieve in an atmosphere that is the perfect combination of elegance, luxury and comfort. Nothing satisfies us more than to provide our guests with this experience, and to watch them enjoy, unwind and cherish their time spent at The Charlotte Inn in the way that we prefer and as our adage suggests - "Behind The Times on Purpose". ... more   less
