We had made plane reservations months ago to Maine but I was slow to make accommodation plans for our trip to Acadia Nat'l Park. When I finally got around to it there was little left available all over Mt. Desert Island! Kristen Hutchins phoned me back and made available one of their cottages, we were so thankful! We arrived late,...

We recently stayed in the A Frame! We love Southwest Harbor and have been coming here for 10+ years. This was the first time staying in this cottage! It's a beautiful cottage and was comfortable for our family. The only complaint I would have is the wifi connection (very poor). Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed...

The cabins feel hand built in a simpler era and are a quaint and charming retreat, tucked into the woods above Southwest Harbor, convenient to the village but secluded. The accommodations are basic but comfortable. A great spot to get away from screens and unwind.

We wanted a cabin in the woods and we got that but what it does not show in their website is some of the things that could have been a potential disaster. As it was it was uncomfortable, and a bit trying. First upon arrival there was only 1 place to park a car, you could have 3 couples (3...

Just spent a week with 4 family members at the Turret Cottage,, one of the cabins owned by Kristin Hutchins. Nothing fancy about the cabin, very basic. But cabin was neat and clean, kitchen had ample dishes, plates, pots. Bathroom was clean and there was plenty of hot water. Even made a fire in the wood stove one night. cabin...

We stayed in the Saltbox and the Turrett. They are rustic cabins in the woods, but a short walk away from Southwest Harbor. We made the drive to Bar Harbor and the park loop several days and it was about 25 minutes to get there. The owner is close by and available to take care of any issues. We had...

My sister and I grew up in Maine and now live in New York. We came to visit with our partners and parents. We stayed in Jay Cottage which was delightful and very comfortable for 5 people. The set up is a little unusual and different than the other cabins on the site as the bedrooms are separate from the...

Do not stay in the New Cottage-it is anything but. The pictures online look attractive, but the 3 bedrooms were musty, damp, and mildewy. The beds were uncomfortable and old. If you have any sort of sensitivity to mold or other allergy conditions, you may want to find other accommodations. Additionally, if you are concerned with security issues, be advised...

We enjoyed our stay in the Saltbox cottage. It's important, however, to read reviews and the website to understand just what to expect: in the middle of the woods, with potential for bugs (we were pleased not to be bothered this time) - no heat except wood stove (which can make it very cozy, but requires fairly constant "work" -...

My husband and I spent a week in Hutchins Cottages for our Honeymoon. We stayed in the "New Cottage". The photos make it look newer than it really is, in reality, it isn't even the "new cottage" anymore. Kristin is very helpful from the time you book to the time you check out. We had an ant infestation in our...

“If you are the type that wants to be very secure with locked doors choose one of the other cabins. I personally liked this one because my mother gets up early and makes a lot of noise in the kitchen and I appreciated that the bedrooms were a little apart from the rest of the house. The bedrooms in this cabin don't have locks but Maine is a super safe and this was not a problem for us.”
