My wife and I are becoming "regulars" at the Birches and for good reason. First, Moosehead Lake is Maine's largest, is surrounded by spectacular mountains, has amazing fishing, hiking, exploring, moose....you name it, it has it! The Birches is a gem and located in Rockwood, away from the hustle-bustle of Greenville and the kind of a place you won't find...

The Birches in Rockwood, Maine is the absolute best vacation spot to experience Maine's beauty and the majesty of Maine's biggest inland body of water, Moosehead Lake. Nature abounds everywhere with deer and moose sightings a normal occurance. The lake is pristine and contains some of the finest game fisheries in the Northeast. Lake Trout, Salmon, and Brook Trout can...

My husband and I stayed there on our honeymoon this past weekend. When we pulled in we were excited by the beautiful view and like the rustic feeling. We checked in and the hostess was a very nice woman. However, our feelings started to change when we went upstairs. We stayed in the room right above the bar and quickly...

The Birches has several options on lodging. We have one cabin called " Honeymoon" which is directly on the water with great views. The lodge rooms are upstairs in the Main Lodge where there is a restaurant and lounge for guests. We inform Lodge guests that the rooms are over the lounge. The rooms are neat and clean. The floors...

The Birches Resort in Maine is wonderful. We stayed here 7 years ago and recently made our way back last weekend and we were not disappointed. We rented 'Catch a Falling Star' cabin and it was perfect for a romantic getaway. It is a 1 bedroom, 1 floor cabin with a nice fireplace, propane heater in the bedroom and a...

I enjoyed The Birches so much last year that I came back this year and stayed 5 nights, again with my dog. There have been improvements since my last review (http://tinyurl.com/ntl5caz) so here is an update: (1) NEW TRAIL SIGNS! - Michelle signed ALL the intersections, making navigating the trail system far far easier than it was last year!! (2)...

We arrived with the temperatures below zero outside but our private cottage was all warm and cozy inside. Had a wonderful dinner in the resort's rustic and beautiful dining room, (the haddock and beef medallions were devious). The entire staff from check in, to food servers and bartenders was all exceptional. The view from the cabin, right on the lake...

A group of friends and myself wanted to fly our small private planes on skis up to Maine to see some out of the way places you can't get to by normal means this time of year. We had been told by other friends that The Birches in Rockwood, ME was a good place to go because we could land...

My wife and I rented a two bedroom cabin with another couple. We arrived 2/13/15 and left 2/15/15. We paid $279. The cabins are very rustic so don't expect any luxuries or frills. The food in the restaurant is excellent, a little pricey but very good. They have a bar but be prepared for the price of drinks. For a...

The staff at The Birches work very hard to accommodate our guests needs. It is gratifying to see such a positive response from a guest. Thanks you very much. John Willard Owner
