The Carleton Inn is a beautiful and peaceful Bed and Breakfast. It was an easy walk to local restaurants. Leo recommended a locale pizza place that was incredible. We enjoyed a delicious gourmet breakfast served in a beautiful dining room. The hosts were friendly and knowledgeable of the area.

The place was very clean and Leo was super friendly and provided great suggestions for restaurants/other locations. Parking at the place was super easy and we barely needed our car because the beginning of downtown was approximately a 7 minute walk away.

We had a great time with Leo and Patty. Breakfast was perfect and had great conversation with the other guest. We got great advise from Leo on restaurants, all walking distance. The inn is spotless, bed was fantastic and all the art work was amazing. Our room was so quiet we thought we were the only ones there but they...

We stay a few nights each summer at this B&B and look forward to it all year. Rooms are immaculate and breakfasts are great. We have never been disappointed by any of Leo's restaurant or sightseeing suggestions. We love the West End neighborhood and find the walk to the wharf area to be a pleasant diversion. We also enjoy any...

James & Patricia, thanks much for your lovely review. One of the kindest gesture one can do for us innkeepers/owners is taking a few minutes to write a review. We love giving suggestions for so many of the great restaurants and things to do here in Portland ( we frequent the ones we recommend) and enjoy sharing our inn with...

This place was great! Our first ever B&B experience and it was perfect. Great hosts (even though the innkeepers were away), great accommodations and great breakfast. Some quick highlights: The rooms were elegant but not stuff and there was access after hours so we weren't restrained by a curfew; the room had a white noise machine for those with sleep...

April Fool was no joke here in Portland. Yes it does snow (sometimes) in April. Thanks for being such a trooper despite the freak snowstorm. It melted pretty much the next two days - that is a spring storm for you. Happy that your B&B experience was great!!

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. This is a 3 level B&B, with steps to the 2nd and 3rd levels. Breakfast was exceptional. Bed and rooms were comfortable and spacious and warm, even at 15F outside. We were on the third floor and the only negative was the water pressure was a little low for showering. There are...

Had a delightful stay at the Inn On Carleton on a cold winter weekend. Tucked away on a quiet side-street in the West End, the Inn is very walkable to all the action without being surrounded by rowdy nightlife. Tons of great spots for lunch, dinner, and caffeine right around the corner. We had a very comfortable room and appreciated...

Delighted that you had quiet, restful nights here at the inn. Portland indeed has a walking index of 90+. We urge our visitors to leave their car at home because one can walk everywhere or if need be take a taxi, trolley or bus. Leo and I do prepare with pleasure delicious, healthy breakfasts to start your day right. Thanks...

This inn is comfortable and cozy, with beautiful décor and a fabulous breakfast! Great location... walking distance to restaurants, the Museum of Art, downtown. We got lots of helpful advice about Portland from the innkeeper, Leo.

Sally, Even in the middle of March Portland has quite a bit to offer with the art museum just blocks away and a great selection of restaurants and music venues. Happy that you were comfortable here in this grand, old townhouse among many in the West End. Breakfast is our special time here so enjoy!!

From the moment we walked in the door we knew we were in for a comfortable stay. We had only one night and left wishing we were there longer. The breakfast was excellent, the setting had an understated elegance and the innkeepers Leo and Patti were a joy.

Thank you for staying with us with spring around the corner but Old Man winter here still in Portland, Maine. This old great, stately town home is unbelievably cozy with fireplaces in each of the rooms to keep all of our guests warm at night. Indeed the guest rooms are tastefully decorated with all the modern amenities you have in...
