My room was large and clean, breakfast was pretty good, and the staff was very friendly. They were very accommodating to my requests, even driving me to my car and helping me jump start it. It was pretty great having a room with an awesome...More
It took longer than planned to drop my kiddo off at UMaine for the Spring semester, so I made the spontaneous decision at 7:45 p.m. to try and find a room in the area for the night to rest ahead of the 4-5 hour drive...More
The University Inn is conveniently located, clean and reasonably priced. They include a decent breakfast and are very friendly. Their renovations have made the property much nicer and we enjoy staying there when visiting Orono.
Clean, large room, breakfast included: not continental (!) more than that. Bravo. Little perks everywhere: bottled water, mints, coffee. Convenient. Visiting UMaine Orono; right there. Stillwater River view. Good, friendly service. Thanks!
We have been staying here since 2013 and liked it very much. We had read about the breakfast spread being awesome and it is true. Good healthy options. Good yummy options too. Good rooms. Pet friendly. You might want a upper floor if you are...More

The campus is quite safe. Police on campus and in the town of Orono are always out patrolling the area and there are emergency beacons throughout campus (with a dedicated 24/7 campus police force as well). Orono, by and large, has a pretty low crime rate.
Cold weather on campus affects student life in the same way it would anywhere else. Though there is a shuttle that services campus, freedom to travel to off-campus locations is pretty limited without a car. As such, winter driving can be an issue if you are not familiar with driving in the snow. Regardless, the roads are pretty well taken care of, especially on campus.
Thank you for your interest in our beautiful town!
