Good location to University and walking distance to restaurants and coffee shops. Nice walking areas and dog-friendly. Take a canoe ride or swim in the pool if in season. Comfortable beds and comfortable and clean rooms.
My recent two night stay during University of Maine Friends & Family Weekend. Picturesque river view room, comfortable accommodations, breakfast included in your stay. Very friendly staff. Convenient location, highly recommended.

The campus is quite safe. Police on campus and in the town of Orono are always out patrolling the area and there are emergency beacons throughout campus (with a dedicated 24/7 campus police force as well). Orono, by and large, has a pretty low crime rate.
Cold weather on campus affects student life in the same way it would anywhere else. Though there is a shuttle that services campus, freedom to travel to off-campus locations is pretty limited without a car. As such, winter driving can be an issue if you are not familiar with driving in the snow. Regardless, the roads are pretty well taken care of, especially on campus.
Thank you for your interest in our beautiful town!
