We stopped overnight at this lovely place in a hired motorhome and could not have been made to feel more welcome: the landlady made a real effort to save us a parking space on the bank of a beautiful canal and greeted us warmly, instantly making us, our kids and huge dog feel really at home. The pub was cosy...

This pub is in a premiere location beside the canal, and it has been decorated sympathetically to a very high standard. This creates a lovely atmosphere. We ate in the dining room, which is at a slightly lower level than the rest of the pub, and, at first, was empty and a little souless, but once it filled up it...

Mid week lunch. This pub is fairly local to us. It gets busy at weekends but is quieter in the week. Not a huge menu but all the food is well cooked and portions are generous. We had a sandwich and calamari which was delicious. There is a very nice garden for warmer weather and the pub is spotlessly clean....

Met some friends for lunch here today after taking the dog for a walk along the canal. The pub itself is lovely, really smart and super friendly staff. We sat in the large beer garden at the front whilst the kids played. We had the carvery lunch (the only food available Sunday lunchtime) and it was amazing. £9.95 for adults,...

I was so disapointed with my evening!.. The food was so poor and everyone felt the same there wasn't a menu only a clip board with paper on and we were told that there was only certain meals available for a weekend this really wasn't good enough. My brother and my sister in law were booked into one of the...

Pleasant pub with eating facilities within walking distance of Rugby Train Station. Stayed 2 nights with full breakfasts at very reasonable cost. Food extra but good value. Rooms well maintained. Stayed in double, a bit pokey with little in the way of storage facilities, but have the feeling it's more for passing through trade than long stayers, as Rugby is...

Went to see if the place was suitable to take some friends but don't think we will risk it. We were the only people in the restaurant at 7pm on Thursday night. My husbands steak and whitebait were delicious but I had new potatoes with chicken. The chicken was the toughest I'd ever had and the potatoes tasted sweet. It...

Visited New Year's Eve at 1500 and they had stopped serving food as the chef was having the night off. No sign outside. Dogs are allowed which is great but there were some running a bit wild. Very dated inside, needs a refurb!

We were very impressed with the Carvery at the Barley Mow. There was a choice of roasts (Turkey, Pork, Gammon and Beef) served with plenty of fresh vegetables. Huge portions,so we had to share a pudding. Very friendly and efficient staff. All in all a really good lunch.

We were looking forward to our visit to the Barley Mow, as our last overnight stop at the end of a midweek break on the North Oxford Canal. The staff seemed friendly enough and the bar was busy, if not rather noisy, no doubt with regulars as well as some visitors. But the pub was very dog-friendly, which was great....
