We have been to Belmond Maroma many times (20+ I think) since our honeymoon in 1996 and most recently in April 2021. We have only been to one other resort in the world more than once (twice to that one) which will tell you what we think of this resort. Great people, location, beach, food, drinks and spa. We never leave this place once we enter the gate for the 1.6 km path through the mangroves to the resort. The best part is the staff some of whom have been there since 1996. Thanks especially to Antonio, Sergio, Sandra, Luise and Manuel. They closed yesterday the 16th for an 18 month renovation and will be managed by LVMH afterwards. The staff are almost all leaving to find other jobs but we hope many will return. We will give the "new" resort a try once it reopens but we are worried that they will make too many changes and that the staff will be all new. We'll see.

We’ve visited this hotel a number of times in the past and spent several weeks here this winter during Covid with our two small children. Staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and kind, food is superb, beach is beautiful, great service and warm hospitality. Highly recommend and hope the professional staff that have worked at this property for many years will return when their planned remodel concludes, look forward to visiting again in a few years once complete. Thanks from our family to all of the staff at Maroma, you’re all world class hospitality professionals.

This was our sixth stay at what is one of our favorite resorts in Mexico. We started coming to Maroma before it became a Belmond and found the change to Belmond did not disrupt the character of this charming property. We were told that they are closing for renovations... however, we truly hope they retain all the understated charm and “hominess” that draws us back year after year. We’re excited to return when they reopen!

Absolutely fantastic. In every way. From the check-in to the service to the food that was always super fresh. I highly recommend the tequila tasting dinner-truly unique and terrific. Spend time at the bar as the bartender is the best. He will guide you through a tasting of excellent tequilas or make your favorite. The 5 srat dinner was excellent as well. Forgot to iention the beach is gorgeous with awesome service. No complaints and we travel all over the world.

If you can drop everything and come in the next month, do it. We have come multiple times in the past, and I have a couple of previous reviews on the property. This had to be the best time yet. Our arrival was seamless, Covid protocols were followed religiously by staff and everyone was helpful. Although Freddy has moved a bit south to another resort with some of the other staff for the renovations, drinks and service are still great. Speaking of that, I had no idea that there was a renovation coming and that Maroma was closing around April 15th. I feel blessed that we were able to come before it shut down for 18 months as we had been thinking of coming in June. So, if you can make a trip happen here in the next couple of weeks, do it. This was the first time we were upgraded upon arrival as we were celebrating something special. And wow what an upgrade. It was a wonderful master suite, separate sitting area, large bathroom and bedroom. We truly appreciated the extra upgrades and bottle of wine to celebrate. No problem getting a beach bed, and it actually was fairly busy due to a large group of teen popular on Instagram. They had fireworks for one of their dinners which happened to be our last night there and when we were eating outside right on the beach. Absolutely perfect way to end the evening. Sergio assisted us at the beach-he is always been so friendly and awesome to talk with, and it was great to see him again. Hugo also helped us the one day Sergio had off and he was great too! I have mentioned seaweed in previous reviews. Well folks, it has finally returned to what I remember when we first came in 2007, and then it was voted to be in the top 10 best beach in the world. Clear, very little seaweed the entire time. No smell, no large piles at the end of the resort, just simply wonderful. Covid testing was simple. You arrange which test you want with staff and they arrange for someone to come to the hotel. We received our results in one day. We tested before we came just to be safe and not worry so much about it. Cleaning staff was absolutely perfect-room was thoroughly cleaned each time, with turn down each night and re-stocking if needed. Our dinner was absolutely wonderful each and every night. Valentine helped us for most of our meals and I loved talking with him and his suggestions were spot on. Thank you to Deborah and Sabrina for your help with any planning or questions. You both are great at your jobs and helped us with anything we needed. We can't wat until you re-open. We will return as soon as it does and bring some friends with us to also enjoy. Please feel free to message me if and when you know the dates, but I will check the website and can find out that way too. What a perfect trip we will always remember.
