One of my favorite resorts I’ve stayed at. The resort is beautiful, they take great care of property, it’s very clean and the landscaping is beautiful. They even make sure the beach is seaweed free by running a tractor multiple times a day. They also make a very cool pattern into the sand each morning. The level of care for the property is very high. The food is the best I have ever ate at an all inclusive. The Baja tacos from the Seaside grill are amazing and I had them for lunch two days in a row! All the drinks were very good too, the passion fruit and tamarind margaritas are made with local fresh fruit. The coffee shop has great coffee, loved it hot and cold and enjoyed their chocolate pastry and assortment of treats at night. The service here is top notch. All the workers are friendly and have great personalities. They truly want you to have the best vacation and be comfortable. I felt like a queen the whole time, being waited on hand and foot, if anyone seen me struggling to carry things back to my beach chair they would come running to help. Just a great group of employees who love their jobs and truly want the guests to have the best experience. Our concierge Esther was the sweetest. Always checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed, she went above and beyond and I can tell she takes great pride in her job. The nightlife lacks a little, the resort bars usually shut down around 11, with an exception of a few nights when they have the disco bar open till 1am. Which the early closing is probably for the best in the long run. Some of the shows are very impressive, but some are a little cheesy. Overall lots of fun to be had during the evening hours but did lack a little in my opinion. There are cool animals on the resort, coati and iguanas, I heard monkeys too but never did see one. Wonderful resort, great food, great staff. Lots of things to do to keep you busy and entertained. The beach is gorgeous and the water color is perfection. Would definitely visit again.

We went to Secrets Maroma last minute for my wife's birthday. This resort far exceeded my expectations. The staff was pheonomial. Oscar Zambano our concierge did a tremendous job decorating our room and taking care of every question we had. Ernesto, Rene, and Fransisco at the pool and beach cabanas made eve4ryhting perfect. Jordan at the preferred club brought my wife a special gift on her birthday.

We booked using Hyatt points, which placed us in a standard Tropical View Double. The resort is 35k points per night, which while expensive was still a very good deal compared to the cash rates for our week of $1200+ per night for the base room and $1800+ for the Preferred Club Ocean View Double we were actually assigned. We also applied a Hyatt Club Access Award to the reservation which entitled us to the Preferred Club benefits but does not guarantee a Preferred Club room. Prior to the stay I had a number of questions which were all handled in a timely and professional manner by Denisse from reservations. She helped confirm that the Club Access Award was applied correctly and also assisted in setting up the Delightfully Beach Day which I touch on lower in this review. I will note that for a mid February stay I was able to find points availability in early January which I would say is the exception not the rule- if booking with points, it helps to book as early as possible. While we had originally booked a Tropical View Double, we did apply the previously mentioned Hyatt Club Access Award and due in part to that were upgraded to a Preferred Club Ocean View Double room in Building 25. The ocean view was somewhat limited as we were on the second floor, but for this resort it was a pretty good view. Really only the Oceanfront category rooms have the full 180 views of the ocean that you may expect- I would say that most Ocean View rooms are what would typically be classified as a Partial Ocean View. The room was fairly spacious with a balcony and due to the Preferred Club room type did have a tub on the balcony which we utilized. We took advantage of the “Secret Box” multiple times throughout the stay which is really an excellent addition. Essentially if you turn on the Do Not Disturb button in the room, room service will put your food in the box which you can then collect at your leisure (and dispose of the dishes when done in the same box). Very convenient. The room was fairly well updated with a decent amount of storage. The TV was not smart, and the resort does not provide Roku/Fire TV etc. so I would recommend bringing your own if you’d like access to streaming services on the TV. The bathroom was very nice as well with another large tub. We could have used more counter space in the bathroom though, as the double vanity did not seem to have enough room for all of our toiletries. There was a nice makeup mirror and the provided bath toiletries were full size Le Labo Bergamot 22. We did also receive the included SPF 15 sunscreen which we used to supplement what we had brought. We had two issues with the room during our stay- at one point we lost hot water, and at another time the AC stopped working. Both were addressed quickly and were fairly minor inconveniences. The AC does shut off when the balcony doors were open, which is something to note. I believe our issue had to do with one of those sensors being faulty which made the system think the balcony doors were open even when they weren’t. We received housekeeping everyday along with turndown service. On the first night, they provided us with a card to note how we would like the minifridge in the room refilled and they seemed to be responsive to those requests. The grounds were very clean and nicely landscaped. The property is beautiful, with a number of smaller more secluded areas carved out for special moments. We found the hotel easy to navigate, with the majority of the restaurants congregated on the West end of the property, with everything funneling from there towards the pools and beach. There is an 18-hole mini golf course by the sports bar which we would recommend at least trying out once. The pools area we felt was very well done, with uniquely shaped pools and the infinity pool looking over the beach. There were a number of pool chairs which is a double-edged sword. We felt that the “chair game” was not too bad here- we arrived at the main activity pool around 11AM multiple times and were able to get chairs without issue each time. The downside is that the chairs are pretty packed in; you will be in close proximity to others. We did however spend the majority of our time at the pools and had excellent experiences each time. The beach area as many have mentioned is one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico. It is a wide strip of beach there and the resort has a number of both Bali Beds which are an upcharge, and palapas with loungers which are not. We spent one day in the palapas and enjoyed it, but we also did pay the upcharge ($200) for the Delightfully Beach Day which included the Presidential Beach Cabana- an elevated platform with shade, a day bed, loungers, and a hammock. It also included a bottle of premium wine and 2 15 minute massages. We absolutely felt like this was worth the money- the view from the top was incredible and the privacy was unmatched compared to other places on the resort. During our stay there was no seaweed- I believe that November-March is usually the low season for that, with the summer being the worst time. The water was very warm and easily swimmable most days we were there. One thing to note is the abundance of wildlife on the property. There is a large population of resident coatis, which are related to raccoons. You will see dozens of them throughout the stay. For us, we enjoyed seeing them and never had a negative experience. There are also a number of seagulls which were less positive- eating by the pool or beach you have to be careful or they will come after your food. A few times throughout the week a hawk is brought to the property to scare them off, but they are still abundant most of the time. There is a fine for feeding any of the animals, which we appreciated and saw most guests following the hotel’s guidelines. The resort does a really good job of having activities going throughout the day, from exercise classes to volleyball to make your own tacos. Generally we felt that we could participate where we wanted to but were not pushed too hard into joining in if we were not interested, although the activity team does often do their best to convince people to participate. We loved both the pool and beach volleyball and the mini golf mentioned above. There are also non-motorized water sports included- primarily kayaks and Hobie Cats. We took one of the Hobie Cats out one day which was a very easy process and enjoyed ourselves on the water. The guides will either let you take them out alone if you have experience, or can sail for you. We were not able to see any of the shows as we were going to bed early most nights, but the theater is a bit outdated and open air- it gets quite hot and humid in there. Throughout the stay, we felt that the service was excellent. The resort has a very high staff:guest ratio, and the level of service provided was high as well. Our concierge for Building 25, Roberto, was incredible and it was great to have a single point of contact for anything we needed. He was available throughout most of the day either at his desk in the building or via Whatsapp which was incredibly convenient. He helped us book the hydrotherapy circuit which was included with the Preferred amenities as well as our maintenance issues, and answered numerous questions we had throughout the stay and gave us helpful tips as well. Service at the pool and beach areas as well was very prompt. Alberto was excellent at the pool and we sat in his section multiple times. By the beach, Alfredo and Maurizio were both impressive too. Our drinks were never empty, and it was nice being able to order from the small food menu from the loungers also. At the restaurants, we felt the service was also impeccable. No “island time” here- it felt like up to US standards that we would be used to dining at nice restaurants at home. During our 6-night stay we were able to sample a number of the dining resorts on location. I will note that most nights one or two of the restaurants were closed for various reasons (which they were very transparent about). If you have a favorite or one you’re looking forward to most, I wouldn’t leave it to the last day just in case it happens to not be available. Also be aware of the dress code- at the sit-down restaurants long pants and a collared shirt are required for men to sit inside. For the main restaurants, we were able to try the Mexican, Italian, and the Hibachi experience. The Hibachi is the only one where reservations are required (or allowed at all), and that can be booked via the app one day in advance- so if you’d like to do that, I would also recommend being on top of it. It was easy for us to get a table booking the morning prior to our meal. We would absolutely recommend all 3 of the restaurants we tried. Favorite meals included the lamb and lasagna bolognese at the Italian restaurant and the tuna dip and fajitas at the Mexican restaurant. The Hibachi experience we thought was fairly well done. In general, the portion sizes were on the smaller side which we prefer- order more if you’re still hungry! We had breakfast at the buffet twice- it was a nice spread and there was a mimosa bar too which was a nice pick me up in the morning. We did not try the buffet for lunch unfortunately so can’t speak to the offerings there. The hotel has done an excellent job of having quick and easy food available by the pool beach, primarily from Barefoot Grill and Secrets Pizza which are by the main activity pool. We had to order the Maroma burger from Barefoot Grill multiple times throughout our stay- it was delicious. The pizza is also grilled in a wood-fired oven and has a quick turnaround time. The pizzas themselves were fairly small but they were happy to cook up multiple for you. Coco Cafe located near the lobby was convenient as well- we popped in a couple of times for the pre-made sandwiches and delicious coffee as well. We took advantage of the 24/7 room service often as well- our favorite was to pre order breakfast the night before so it would arrive early in the morning to our Secret Box for us to enjoy on our balcony. We felt that the menu was sufficient- there are separate items available for breakfast / lunch & dinner / late night, all of which are available in the Hyatt Inclusive app so you can explore them prior to your stay. We were not able to order via the app (although it appears you should be able to). This may have been user error but we are fairly tech savvy and couldn’t get it to work our entire stay. The room does have a tablet in it which amongst other things did work for ordering room service, although to pre order things we did have to call in as we did not see that option on the tablet. We did stay during Valentine’s Day, so we worked with Janet the Food and Beverage concierge to do a special romantic dinner by the pool. This was called the Onyx dinner experience, and effectively if you pay for a bottle of wine they will set up a special table for you on one of the fingers by the pool and you can order from both Oceana and Seaside Grill (the seafood and steak restaurants respectively). We thought it was a beautiful place for dinner due to the privacy and how beautiful the resort is lit up at night, and it was probably the best meal we had as well. We both ordered from the steak restaurant and our Ribeye and Sirloin steaks were very good- the best we’ve ever experienced at an All-Inclusive. The loaded baked potato and mashed sweet potatoes paired perfectly as well. We would recommend this experience if you’re looking for a romantic evening; the wine is subject to a pretty hefty upcharge ($140 for the Chateauneuf du Pape we chose) vs. retail pricing, but for a special occasion we felt it was well worth it. The resort also does a very nice job of spicing things up with special meals by the pool at lunchtime. The highlight was the bluefin tuna flown in on Thursday, which was trollied by the pool area and then butchered by the chefs from the Asian restaurant. It was pretty cool to watch (although not for the squeamish) and informative as well. It was of course delicious and pretty cool to have the tuna so fresh. There also were at various times ice cream trolleys and mangos served with tajin and other spices on them. They also had a station set up one day where they were making drinks in coconuts which were very refreshing. Due to our Preferred status, we did have access to the Preferred Beach Club and we went to the Brazilian night which occurs Mondays and Fridays. It is done like a traditional churrascura meal (think Texas de Brazil) where the servers come around with various meats on skewers and you can pick and choose what you’d like to try. There is also entertainment going on at the same time. Definitely a night we enjoyed. We were not able to try the Beach Club for breakfast or lunch although I’m sure it was nice as well for those- just note there is a dress code. For that reason we were more likely to try the more casual options for lunch rather than changing just to eat at the sit down place. To touch on the value of the Preferred Club, I will note that we essentially got those amenities for free by using the Hyatt Club Access Award. For us, the primary benefits were: Free hydrotherapy Access to the Preferred Beach Club Upgraded rooms and amenities While these were nice, if paying cash I would not have paid for the upgrade. The Brazilian night at the Preferred Beach Club was excellent but in and of itself was not worth the thousands of dollars it would have cost to pay for the upgrade to Preferred. Also, the premium liquors available with the package are only in the Preferred Lounge which we rarely used- much more often we were at the regular bars throughout the property. We felt that the liquor selection was more than sufficient at the regular bars. Deciding to go Preferred or not will be a different decision for every guest, but I can confidently say we would have had a 5-star stay without the PC benefits. Overall, we had an excellent stay and would absolutely recommend this resort and would consider returning in the future. It is of course primarily couples focused, although not exclusively so- there were some corporate events and groups of friends that I’m sure enjoyed the resort as well. My biggest recommendation would be to download and explore the Hyatt Inclusive app prior to your stay- it has all of the activities, menus for the restaurants, spa pricing, and tons of other useful information. As far as the general vibe of the resort, it definitely is a more relaxing, peaceful feeling. It is not at all a party resort- if that’s what you’re looking for I would recommend checking out the Breathless resort brand or other similar options. At the same time, there are activities available from 8AM-seemingly 10PM almost all days- if you want to be more active and try things out, that is absolutely possible. All in all, we felt it was a beautiful resort with excellent food and service.

Another fabulous trip to Secrets Maroma. Always top notch. Their employees are the best. Bramdon and Francisco at the pool will take the best care of you and all your pool needs. Bramdon will always go out of his way to know what each guest’s likes/needs are. Wilberth and Victor made sure we had the best drinks all day long at the pool. The Entertainment Staff is top notch! From pool volleyball to all the activities. Shout out to Dana, Leo, Stefanie, Edgar and Memo. Our Concierge was on top of things, no matter how small. Came to the pool area multiple times to find us and see if we needed anything. We missed having Roberto but he is a gentleman and assured us Oscar would take as good care of us as he had over the 10 years we have been going here. Francisco at the Himstdu restaurant was fantastic!!!! Made great suggestions and always was spot on!!!

Overall this is a wonderful resort. Most of the food is great as is the service. Only a slightly rushed waiter at the Italian restaurant detracted. Otherwise the service was wonderful. Rooms are clean and spacious. As a preferred member, the sign in process was difficult. They brought us to a special area (trust me the lobby where everyone else registered was much nicer). During that "special " registration, they tried to upsell us on various services, none of what was of interest to us. All we wanted to do was get to our room. My suggestion, if you are preferred, is tell them from the start that you want to avoid everything other than just registering. Also (and this is my only pet peeve), some of the restaurants said that long pants were required for dinner, When I am on vacation I don't want to have to worry about that but it was a small price to pay for some fantastic meals. Overall we had a great time and will go again.

We just got back from Maroma beach yesterday. We stayed for 16 nights in building 25. Our concierge was Roberto, and he is the best! He went above and beyond to do everything to make your stay great. Many thanks to Roberto, and we hope to see you next year. Our housekeeper was Nery, and she was very good and efficient too. We wanted our room to be done between 2 to 4 pm, and she was very reliable to see to our needs. The rooms are very nice, and the air conditioner works well. We were told that they upgraded the system, so well done. We would only like one suggestion for the room, and that is to install one or two more hooks for towels in the bathroom. The view from our room was really nice, and we spent a lot of time on the balcony before dinnner to see the coaties play and just to view the ocean. The breakfast and lunch buffet offers everything you would want in food. They have a lot of choices,so you don't get bored with the food. We made special friends with the receptionest at the desk Berenice. We also would like to thank Johnathon for all his caring too. The waiters we made good friends with are Freddie, Lucio and Humberto. But I must say that all the waiters are exceptional there. We are swimmers and the beach is the best that I've been to. The water was calm for half our stay, and even when it got a little rougher, it was still good to go swimming. If you like beaches, go there. Special mention to Mauricio, Fransisco, Enrique. They were very attentive to us our whole stay, and knew our names. It made us feel special. The restaurants were all great! Our favorite was the French Bordeaux. But we enjoyed all of them. Cudos to all the staff at all the restaurants too. Everyone at the resort treats you like royalty. You are pampered throughout your stay. We plan on coming back again next year, and we can't wait to see everyone again. One delight for us was seeing our buddy Patricio the cat at the preferred club. We have a cat at home, and it was nice to see him. Juan the bartender was nice, and he really likes cats too. haha. If you are thinking of going to Secrets Maroma Beach, do so. You won't regret it. We had a great time, and thank you all for a great stay.

Secrets Maroma is above exceptional in every area! The concierge service we received from Oscar was like having our own personal assistant. He was at our side at the drop of a hat to make reservations, deliver whatever we needed to our room, provided daily activities so we knew ahead of time what was going on at the resort. He even surprised me for my 60th bday and decorated our room with many many beautiful balloons and had a cake with candles waiting for me. The food at this place is EXCEPTIONAL!!! We’ve been to many top resorts and the food and the service from every staff member here we felt was the top. The preferred restaurant by the pool had a gorgeous scenery overlooking the beach, and there too the food was delicious. All meals they give you A LOT of food. The beach is beyond gorgeous. Wide beach (75 yards) white, manicured sand and the ocean was seaweed free and gorgeous. The rooms are very spacious and have tons of drawers for your clothes, along with a big closet which included a steamer. Don’t wonder if you should book this resort. It will be the best decision you made! You won’t find a more beautiful place!!
