We just completed a wonderful 5-day stay at Secrets Maroma Beach. One aspect of our stay stood out above all others; the staff was amazing! First, our concierge Roberto Canul was great at handling every request during our stay from spa appointments to special dinner and breakfast arrangements! The staff at the restaurants (Antonio and Salome at the World Cafe, Hugo at Seaside Steakhouse, Luis at Oceana, Angel at El Patio, and especially Abel & Gabriel at Himitsu) we’re engaging and provided excellent recommendations at each restaurant. Also the entertainment staff (Asdrubal, Veronica, Ivan, Caesar, and Noemi) made each day entertaining with beach and pool activities.
We loved the facilities (room, pool, restaurants) and especially the spa.
We were impressed with the resort’s response to the COVID-19 concerns. We found hand sanitizer everywhere and cleaning crews constantly ensuring high traffic areas remained clean.
We avoided the time share sales pitch by firmly stating we were not interested after initial check-in.
One improvement suggestion would be the music selection by the pool. They played primarily older US top 40 and rock music. We would have preferred Mexican/Caribbean music to get more of a tropical feel.
Overall, we loved this resort and will definitely return for another vacation!

We stayed at Secrets for a week for a trip I won with my company. From the moment we arrived at the resort, we had nothing but amazing service. The rooms are beautiful and the concierge are very eager and happy to help you. We had a couples massage and I had a facial. Both were wonderful with very nice spa facilities. Most of our time was spent on the beach in the cabanas you can rent. The price is $70USD but they have coupons available so we only paid $50. The staff working the beach and cabanas were the best I've ever seen. Alberto, Daniel and Bramdon were excellent. They bring you pretty much whatever you want from drinks, lunch, towels, etc. They also clean your sunglasses and provide a cold wash cloth to cool you down. I can't say enough nice things about those 3 gentlemen. Seek them out if you visit, you will not be disappointed in the level of service they provide. The pool is also really nice with different activities throughout the day, if that's your thing. The food is good and there are a lot of great choices. If you eat by the pool, protect your food or the seagulls will enjoy it before you do. I don't have any real complaints about the resort. The power did go out but not for long at all because they worked really hard to get it back up and running. I would definitely recommend coming to Secrets.

We had an outstanding five nights with no negatives to report. The resort’s location is more interesting than resorts in Cancun’s hotel zone, basically situated in a sprawling jungle preserve with architecture that is in harmony with its surroundings with generous use of beautiful wood. Pools were excellent, the lobby bar was a great hangout spot with live music, rooms were thoughtfully designed, and cranking down the thermostat to 67 actually gets you there. TV quality and WiFi speed are the best we have seen (>200 MBPS in the room and even 50 on the beach).
Food was excellent, with Himitsu being our favorite (edamame, rolls, ramen, miso salmon, and tuna were all great) and Bordeaux our second favorite. Breakfast buffet was an impressive spread, often with a violinist, and the lunch buffet was really nice, especially on the day they offered a Mexican buffet with lots of cooking stations, cochinita pibil, garlic fish, and several ceviches with fresh fried tortilla chips. The pizza stand was excellent. Wine bottle pricing was a bit insulting, with $5 grocery store swill like Woodbridge listed at $70, although house wines were OK. We had no food disappointments and in fact asked staff for recipe hints several times.
We booked a romance package in the presidential cabana for two days and it was a stellar experience with a bottle of Moët, shiatsu massages, food and drink service all day, and world class service from Eli, Saul, and Danny. Those guys are amazing. The beach was beautiful.
No problems checking in or out - just say upfront that you won’t attend a timeshare pitch. Our room was freshened once or twice a day, the mini fridge always had beer, soda, and water, and nightly turndown service was a welcome reminder of how travel used to be. Beds are super comfy.
My only suggestion would be to open the buffet for dinner so that a wider variety of food could be offered since we always enjoy the Indian and barbecue nights at other resorts and the ability to pop in for a quick snack or dessert when a full dinner in a restaurant wasn’t necessary or possible.
We’ve stayed at several of the highest rated resorts in Riviera Maya and this is likely to be our first choice next time. It is the perfect mix of setting, liveliness levels, great food, and marvelous employees.

This resort was amazing! We went in August for our honeymoon and got the preferred ocean view suite. As far as COVID goes, we felt safer at this resort than even back home in Texas. They sanitized our bags upon arrival, everything in the room was bagged and sanitized (remote, robes, soaps, etc), all the staff wore masks, hand sanitizer everywhere, and the servers even gave you hand sanitizers when you ordered food/drinks.
The resort is only booking up to 30% capacity and while we were there, it was only at 23% (they have over 400 rooms). This was a once in a life time experience because we never had issues getting premium seating at the pool or beach. Typically during normal capacity, if you don't get there early in the A.M., you won't get chairs.
The staff were SO kind. I've never met people who work harder and are so sweet and go above and beyond. Alberto, Janet, Rodrigo, Antonio, Freddy, Rico, Heliodorio and Andrea are just some of the amazing staff that deserve a raise and made the experience so memorable!
If you can afford it, get the preferred suite. You get access to the premium alcohol this way. The Spa was also once in a life time experience, the hydrotherapy was SO great!
Definitely would recommend going and we plan to go back again!

We travelled to Secrets Maroma for our honeymoon in November, everything was absolutely perfect and really couldn't fault a thing.
We stayed in a honeymoon suite which was beach front with a balcony. The room itself was beautiful, modern and with everything you could possibly need. Housekeeping ensured there was not a spec of dust to be seen.
Nathy was the concierge for our building and she really did go above and beyond to help with anything we needed, and always there with a smile.
We stayed for 14 nights so managed to eat in every restaurant. The food was really exceptional in every restaurant, every meal was beautifully presented and always tasted fantastic.
We also had the honeymoon package which was just lovely and with so many different things! Romantic breakfast in the room, special turn down service where the room was beautifully decorated with rose petals and the bath run, an amazing dinner on the beach, couples massage and hydrotherapy, sparkling wine in the room. It really did make our trip extra special.
We didn't spend much time around the pool but there were always beds to be found, preferring to spend our days on the beach. The beach is just absolutely beautiful! There was very little seaweed, but even still the staff were working daily to clear the little that was there away. We never had any trouble finding a bed, and the beach concierge is on hand to help if needed and lay your towels down for you. Pedro our beach waiter was always on hand doing an amazing job!
The hotel and grounds are extremely well maintained, Christmas decorations were just lovely. Every single member of staff greets you with a smile. We enjoyed our evening drink in the preferred club lounge and the bartender was just lovely.
I think I could go on forever about how much we loved the place but hopefully my points are helpful to anyone thinking about staying here, I really couldn't recommend it enough!

We had a wonderful time at Maroma Secrets Resort. The rooms are elegant and very spacious. All of the toiletries were wrapped and the room was completely sanitized even the television remote. We stayed in an Oceanview Room and had a gorgeous view of the ocean and full property. Our room had a whirlpool tub and we enjoyed it very much!
I cannot say enough about the staff and service we received at this resort! Our concierge, Evonne, was extremely helpful and assisted us throughout our stay. Every day Julio, the resort beach concierge, set us up at the best location of the beach, he ensured we had towels, introduced us to our beach bartender and even helped my husband set up a surprise birthday party at the beach for me! Evonne ensured they included a little birthday cake and they made it all so special for us! We made many good friends here and can’t wait to return.
The food was delicious, there wasn’t anything I didn’t love...! The food at the Patio Mexican restaurant was amazing, best beans ever! Oceana and barefoot grill were also our other favorites...delicious!
Excellent service was provided by all employees at all times. Even at the pool we didn’t have to wait for drinks - Pedro, Alberto, Daniel, and Claudia ensured the drinks kept coming. I really just want to praise the staff here, we were treated like family and we had such a great time! They made my 50 year birthday very memorable, so much that we will be celebrating my husband’s 50th next year at the same resort!

Secrets Maroma has become our favorite go to resort in Mexico, which is saying something. As members of the Unlimited Vacation Club (UVC) we’ve been to six of their all-inclusive for adults only resorts for an even dozen trips so far.
This was a ten day get away from the cold Covid-19 world of northern Illinois to the tropical Mexican Rivera Maya. We stayed in a ocean front junior swim out suit, building 17. It faces east so you’ll enjoy the wonderful ocean breeze and the calming sounds of the waves crashing the beach however the vegetation and beach cabanas block much of the ocean view. Since the pool faces east it is heated and warmed by the sun all day.
The room was very comfortable and nicely appointed with all the amenities you could want. The toiletries are high quality so unless you have very specific needs, you don’t need to bring much of that on your own.
We are beach people so we rented the same cabana every day in front of our building where the Cabana Concierge Saul, and Beach/Pool waiter Carlos took care of us like we were family. We’re not the fetch me/get me types but these two gracious young men spoiled us to no end. And speaking of spoiling, our Building Concierge Rodger, could not have been more helpful or thoughtful during our stay.
Highlights in the main pool area are the Barefoot Grill and the Stone Pizza Oven. There are plenty of activities around the pool area for those looking for that sort of thing. The Tempura Fish Tacos are to die for. As I said, Saul and Carlos kept in touch all day making sure our water stayed iced and our drinks never ran dry until we cried “No Mas”. LOL!
Under the current COVID-19 protocols, all the staff wear face masks and eye coverings. Social distance is also followed by the staff. The rooms, facilities, restaurants, restrooms, grounds, etc couldn’t be cleaner or more well kept. The pool swim up bar is closed, but again, your favorite beverage/drink is available by waiter or a short trip to the Barracuda Bar. There are no pool floats available but a quick trip to Amazon will get you what you want.
The food at the restaurants is high quality if you enjoy Mexican, Asian, French, Italian up in the main building or seafood or steaks at The Oceana. We did quite a bit of room service (which is 24 hours) since we were a bit wiped out after a hard day of doing nothing. The buffet restaurant is outstanding as was our new best friend Carlos who waited on us each morning, calling us by name and making us feel at home.
This resort in particular offers the best service and genuine kindness/friendliness from its staff, top to bottom. I’m sure some of it is from training and management expectations but it’s impossible not to think it is genuine and comes from the heart.

The resort exceeded my expectations from check-in onwards. Safety and social distancing, all staff very respectful and accommodating, always looking to raise the bar and make the guest experience even better.
I particularly enjoyed the fact that this is a relatively compact resort - our building was one of the farthest from the beach, yet it was still less than a 5 minute walk and we had a beautiful ocean view from the 3rd floor room balcony.
The beach... what can I say. Maroma has the best beach in all of Riviera Maya. The sand is soft and doesn't get hot in direct sun. The water is crystal clear and the swimming depth is gradually increasing, accommodating for all types of swimmers.
The swimming pools were just perfect. The infinity pool slightly colder but very comfortable and with great view of the beach at the water surface level, allowing for some great photo opportunities. Whatever process was used to clean the pools, the water never smelled of chemicals. It was a tough choice between the beach and the pool area. Ultimately we spent the mornings at the beach and the afternoons at the pool, taking advantage of both.
The food options exceeded my expectations. I have been to many 5-star resorts up and down Riviera Maya. Most other resorts have good selection, but the quality simply pales in comparison to Secrets Maroma beach. Coming from NYC area and being spoiled by top chefs and restaurants, I have not expected the A La Carte experience to be so good. The french kitchen at Bordeaux was my favorite, but even the simple food options at the Barefoot grill by the pool were first class.
This review would not be complete without mentioning the quality of WIFI internet service. The signal was reliable and strong throughout the resort, even on the beach, which was a blessing and a curse, since it made so difficult to forget about what's happening in the world outside the resort. Traveling during the Thanksgiving weekend, I was still able to take advantage of online deals while relaxing by the pool with a glass of refreshing beverage in hand.
Did my stay fell short of perfect? Yes, only because 5 days was not enough and we left too soon to enjoy this truly exceptional resort made even more special by the people working there.

This was a last minute getaway so at time of booking preferred ocean view was sold out, so we stayed in regular ocean view building 14, 3rd floor. Very nice room and large jetted tub and walk in shower. Nice terrace with small piece of ocean visible.
Safety precautions in place and resort very clean. Temp checks at all sit down restaurant and masks for all guests required when walking to table and while at buffet, otherwise everything else was outdoors so masks could be left off. Staff masked at all times, not sure if this will change with newest CDC recs from yesterday 5/13/21.
Pool area nice, get there early to ‘save’ your chairs, most of choice locations were ‘saved’ by 8am. Swim up bar had excellent service. This is a straw free resort, bring your own straws if you will be enjoying frozen drinks!
Shows every night were okay, and nightlife continued until 1 am with music or DJ.
Unless preferred, only breakfast option was buffet. Usual choices, and food was good. On par with other 5 Diamond resorts we have stayed at. I do not like buffets, but the Mexican station here had amazing breakfast. Try the huarache, so good! Enjoyed the pizza station and the barefoot grill by the pool for lunch. Different choices everyday at the grill and pizza station was made to order and cooked in outdoor pizza oven. We tried the Japanese, Mexican and French restaurants, all very good, again on par with other 5 Diamond resorts we have stayed at.
Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
I’m not a beach person, walked along the beach once, there was a lot of seaweed, but it was early morning and they had a tractor out and workers appeared to be clearing it somewhat.
Overall great stay, if you really have to have a true ocean view I would book preferred, otherwise regular ocean view was fine, as we are only in our room briefly.
Room service was great, fairly prompt as far as room service goes, and we loved having the ‘secret box’ where we could order, put the tip in the box and then just fetch our order from the box rather than open the door and have someone in the room.

This was our third visit to Secrets Maroma, and it is still our favourite resort. We were in bldg 26 preferred club on the 2nd floor, we still had a view and it is a very convenient location plus you get Roger as your concierge, he is very attentive. This resort is near perfect just the right size, great food, drinks, and service. The music is not too loud and the entertainment team works hard to keep guests involved if you choose. There are a lot of beautiful resorts but the reason we keep coming back here is because of the staff and management. The staff makes sure you are treated like family. The management makes sure their employees are happy and they strictly enforce the no smoking rule making this resort clean and a pleasure to visit. We like going preferred club as the extras are worth it to us. Bramdon, Edy and the other employees on the pool deck make sure no one is without a deck chair. Bernadina, Daniel, and the other servers on the pool deck practically run to make sure you have a drink. This resort is not far from the Cancun airport and when the weather is good it is one of the most beautiful beaches you will see. We will visit again.

The only place you need reservations is for the Teppanyaki table in Himitsu - the pan Asian restaurant. The longest we waited for any restaurant was about 20 minutes. Just take a pager from the hostess and go to the bar
There are more places to choose from in the Playa Maroma area.
