Stayed here for one night in early July at the at the bed & breakfast. Wanted to see the plantation that was prominently used in the eighties mini series North and South. This place is off the beaten path. A gps will get you on the road to the property. Luckily there were signs to get you the rest of...

I wanted to see this plantation because I knew it was used in the miniseries north and south. It is situated quite far out in the country but it is so peaceful and inviting. I was happy to learn they have bed and breakfast accommodations because I would like to return some day and spend a couple of nights. The...

I fell in love with this plantation when I was a child and saw North and South with Patrick Swayze. It's been on my list of places to see in person since I found out where it was located and this year I finally made the trek up to St. Francisville to see it. I toured the plantation and also...

It was a great history of the building and how it was reconstructed by the current owner himself. It's a must see for any history buff. The live oak trees in the entry yard are the most amazing I've ever seing.

We've seen a lot of plantations in the area, but for some reason this place had the best feeling. Could be that it's because it's actually a home, built by the father of the young woman now responsible for the property and who gives the tours. There's an interesting combination of space and coziness we haven't found in other places,...

My wife and I have spent many nights at various B & B’s around the country. Never have I encountered one like this. I thought it strange when we arrived that the key was in an envelope in the mail box to our room # 12 and no one was there to greet us. No contact phone number not even...

After extensive research for a plantation experience, I settled for this place and was disappointed with my choice. I normally write a narrative review but I want readers to make their own decisions based on the pros and cons as I understand there are not many other options in town. I always start with the positives since I am an...

Owner's granddaughter has a dog that allowed to roam this property freely. This results in dog poop everywhere and the dog even gets in the bedrooms and into the beds. Sweet dog but this is a business right? Location is absolutely amazing. Breakfast is ONLY served from 9-9:30am...a bit strange. Rooms are outdated, need new beds (both our backs were...

Room felt like an average motel room, clean but utterly lacking in any character, could use some new pillows as the ones in our room were quite flat and we both woke up feeling achy. Breakfast was "meh" and if you have a hearty appetite you will probably still be hungry (maybe you could ask for more??) and was surprised...

We had a great stay at Greenwood. The staff were friendly. The house and grounds beautiful. The guest room was comfortable. It is calm, I even saw a deer on the property. We also toured several other homes in St. Francesville.

Our bed and breakfast is a newer facility across the pond from the main house ( there is no rooms in the main house for rent). The upstairs rooms are the nicer rooms, they have a view of the house and pond. The downstairs rooms are built into a hill and offer a view of the wooded area, great for nature watching. The main house is open to the public for tours only. Only the owners stay in the main house. ... more   less
