We stayed at the Bracken Lodge for a week with our two teenaged children. Julie and Sandy are perfectionists when it comes to being hosts. Our rooms were modern, luxurious, with ever detail attended to-the beds are amazing and the towels heated. Before tea time, fresh milk and biscuits magically appeared at our door. The breakfasts were sumptuous with everything...

Nothing was too much trouble for the proprietors of this delightful hotel tucked away in the beautiful village atmosphere of Bishopsthorpe. Within easy reach of York, the A1M and the Yorkshire Moors it's an ideal base for those looking to experience the delights of Yorkshire. The hotel is on a bus route into York for those who don't want to...

My husband and I stayed at Bracken Lodge for 4 nights in June. Our room (No 2) was spacious, with a really comfy king sized bed and a large spotless bathroom ensuite. The B&B section of the house is modern and purpose built. The location, just outside York, was excellent with a bus into York just across the road and...

Just returned from a two night weekend stay with friends. I cannot praise this place enough. It is the best 4star b&b we have stayed in, in York by far. We decided to stay here as the hotels in York were too expensive due to it being the John Smith Race meeting weekend. Bishopthorpe is a lovely village 3 miles...

I have stayed in a fair number of bed and breakfast establishments and this is easily the best. The room was beautifully decorated , extremely tranquil and spotlessly clean. The owners had put a lot of thought into what guests want these days and it was great to get a flask of real milk with the tea/coffee rather than those...

We stayed here one night to attend a friend's birthday in York. The room was large, bright and spotlessly clean, with fresh flowers on the window sill. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom spacious and well-appointed. The owner Julie was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble - we were offered cake on arrival and the cooked breakfast...
