Anne and Billy welcome individuals, couples or small groups for private use of our quirky and rustic self contained lodge. We sleep a total of 8 people and we have a double room, twin room and a four person share room. Although we don't have ensuites, we have 3 showers available so plenty of facilities. There is a large cozy lounge and fully equipped kitchen for cooking a meal and sitting around the fire and feel like you are in the comfort of your own home. We are only 5km away from the historic town of Port Chalmers the beautiful beaches of Aramoana. Relax and enjoy the spectacular views or enjoy one of the scenic day walks where you can see native birds or might be lucky to see a seal or sea lion or yellow eyed penguin at Aramoana beach. The vibrant university city of Dunedin is only a 20 minutes drive and we are lucky to be close to the Otago Peninsula, a great day out. Book the entire lodge, whether travelling as a couple or with family or friends.

5 of us stayed here for the Elton John concert in February. While the concert was phenomenal the accommodation is what we are still talking about. This was a blast back to the past with the fabulous decor, surrounding farm animals and no TV. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay with a warm welcome from the owners, fresh milk in the fridge and endless beautiful views from all points of the house.

Best place to stay in Dunedin. I traveled down a few weeks back with some friends. We're trainspotters so Dunedin is a great spot with the Taieri Gorge Railway nearby. The hostel was lovely, we got the fire going nicely with wood from the pine trees and coal that was provided and listened to some records. The place warmed up nicely and we woke to a perfect sunrise. After a few nights we headed back home but by the time we got to Ashburton I realized that I had left my wallet behind. Upon arrival back home I contacted the hosts who quickly replied. Sadly, the co-owner had an accident and they were unable to return to look for my wallet but sent the locals in. About a week ago I received another email saying they had found it. Today, I got a knock on the door in Kaiapoi and there was my wallet. Excellent customer service and we will be definitively be returning. Thanks Billy Browns :)

This is the first time I have ever reviewed accommodation on our travels. However, this backpacker is amazing and I feel that people should know about it. It sits on top of a hill, which means you have views back up the harbour to Port Chalmers and views also of the Otago Peninsula and towards Aramoana. It isn't very far from Dunedin itself. Bill, the host is very welcoming and accommodating. The building has character and it has some unique touches. I loved the mixing bowls that are used as sinks in the showers and toilet. There are a number of aspects to make you feel comfortable, for example the lounge has a number of books and magazines that you can read and also games and jigsaws you can use. From reading the visitor book, some guests spent time on the farm with Bill. This place is special.

Although we had some trouble when check in. But Billy solved the problem very properly. And this house has a great view of the sea and great beach to watch sea lions. Great view in the kitchen. Highly recommend to people who like remote accommodation like me since it is 30 mins drive aways from Dunedin city.
