At first, was put off by lack of signage and difficulty in finding. It's behind a Starbuck's which is a plus. Second red flag was a locked lobby with bank type window in vending room (covid precaution?). Third, there is a roaming 24-hour security vehicle. This hotel does have a pleasant and quiet green setting in a seemingly upscale commercial area of Lexington. The concrete sidewalks and pass throughs could use a power wash. There was no stopper in the sink of my first room, and on my second, a partially broken high end office chair at the TV desk, and a very difficult to operate room entry lock/handle. (Room 331 Mr. Manager). In total, the place could use more aggressive maintenance. Long term residents relax on the balconies, some having a smoke, (rooms are of course smoke free). I did not see the comforting presence of older couples and young families with a dog who seem to frequent other Red Roofs located directly off the Interstates.

On the good side, the rooms and bathrooms are clean and quiet, beds are very comfortable; TV's are good, (but slow for cable to "boot up") with finicky remotes.. The AC system, was excellent. I'm sure this place is bug and rodent free.
It is also priced much lower than other places this clean with beds this comfortable and good AC. It was good enough for me to return on my trip home after an initial visit a week earlier. It definitely could use more aggressive maintenance. The elevator worked well and was very useful, making 2nd and 3rd floor rooms as accessible as first floor. On my first visit I had forgotten the wall cord for my CPAP, and housekeeper Sandy found one in the lost and found and cheerfully brought it to my room. You decide.

Thank you for taking the time to complete our online survey for your recent stay at our INN. We apologize for any inconvenience that has occurred during your stay and will make improvements to make your stay a better one in near future. Our side walks on each floors do get pressure wash as needed. Long term tenants do hang around in balcony which we can not say No to them as long as they are not breaking property rules and regulations. Security guard patrolling thru the nights is for guests safety. Thank you, Sky Patel GM

When I go in I’m greeted professionally. I’ve stayed multiple times and the clerk Renee knows when I’m walking up and has my reservation pulled up. I work for the local hospital and he has my room ready fast. After a long day that’s means a lot to someone who travels as much as I do.

It was the first that came up in the list sorted from least expensive to most. Bed was very comfy, area didn’t seem too bad. Could have been cleaner: smelled a little like smoke, dead bugs smashed on a panel by the ceiling, spots on the floor, ceiling bad in spots. This cheap room was on 3rd floor with no elevator. Overall, I slept great and it filled the need of a room while passing thru. Can’t complain.

This is our 3rd stay at this Red Roof Inn. We live in northern Kentucky and travel here for UK hospital visits. They offer a hospital rate if you live further than 50 miles away and have a hospital appointment. This hotel may be nothing fancy but it is clean and the rate is absolutely affordable. Anything that the hotel may lack in amenities is 100% made up by their excellent customer service. If you stay here, I hope you have the pleasure of meeting the night receptionist, Renee. She was so hospitable and welcoming. When she realized I was here for a hospital procedure, she ensured our room was ground level and nearby (without us asking). She even offered to pray for me. My procedure was outpatient but we stayed the night of the procedure as well so that we could rest properly before driving home (we are not morning people). We saw Renee again that night and she allowed us for a late checkout, prayed for me again, wished me well, and offered her assistance with anything we could need now or in the future and thanked us genuinely for choosing to stay with them while in town for the hospital visits. My husband and I will absolutely continue to stay at Red Roof Inn Lexington South when needed and highly recommended it to anyone looking for a clean, affordable, and hospitable nights rest.

This could easily stretch into a multi page essay of the horrible stay we encountered at this run down, filthy and poorly furnished motel. To keep it brief, I will simply post the bullets.
1. Grumpy female receptionist at check in.
2. Exterior balcony walk ways and elevators areas were filthy.
3. No TV remote on check in.
4. When we received a remote, it did not function properly!
5. Given a second remote after dealing once again with a grumpy receptionist.
This remote worked correctly.
6. NO working phone in our room...thus, every attempt to reach the front desk had
to be by foot from the second floor rear of the building. Not a big deal?? We
are 70 years of age and I am 40% disabled.
7. Noise level was ridiculous all the way up to 1:15 AM from the younger folks in adjacent rooms.

In short and without commenting in depth in regard to the hard mattresses, 1 tiny soap and 1 tiny shampoo, bathroom ceiling plaster hanging down in places and debris on the carpet, this facility is the worst we have stayed in over the past 45 years and numerous brands in numerous states.

There was actually one bright spot in all of this...the night manager had just come on for his shift and he was very polite and assisted us in getting a working remote.

My husband and I decided to have a weekend without the kids just a time to relax. The building is old but it’s quiet and I enjoyed the staff. So friendly the gentleman that checked us in let us know about the restaurants in the area. That was a plus for me, being from out of town and not knowing the area. The next day my key didn’t work and the lady front desk person was so kind to give me new keys without a fuss. I wish we could have stayed longer than 2 days.

The room was very clean i was actually blown away by the cleanliness. I stayed there for a few days. The housekeeper was very nice and the front desk staff was very helpful. The room next to me was a little noisy but the man at the desk came up and made them be quiet. Sue is also extremely helpful and very nice. I would definitely stay there again next time I’m in town. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had at a hotel.

April assisted us in getting a great room at a great price. When we needed dorks and napkins for food she personally got them for us. Because of April we will stay here instead of other places. Room was clean and everything was perfect.

Recently I began to remodel my home in my Town of Lexington. I found that the Red Roof Inn South was the most affordable place to stay over the week of massive plumbing work. Upon arrival, Renee, I'm assuming is the Night Time Auditor or Manager, got to know me by name, learned of my particular schedule, and was always smiling, regardless. My Home Repair is now complete, but I return to Red Roof Inn South twice weekly, just to get "out of the house". This is due to how well I was received and treated by Renee. Let's Keep Renee and Red Roof Inn South # 1 Lexington!

I waited to give the manager an opportunity to contact me, no one has so here goes. I spoke to three different people at the lobby window; one said the manager was out of town until last night. I had a list of issues.
1) I first tired to call and check availability on the phone (same day reservation for 2 nights - last minute). I could barely understand her because the English was so poor. I told her I'd wait until I arrived and she said there were only a few left and tried to complete it on the phone but I wouldn't.
2) The price on-site was considerably more than the price she quoted me on the phone.
3) I had to initial a sheet stating I would be charged for smoking in the room. (we do not so not a problem). Someone had smoked in that room!!
4) The hair dryer was broken
5) I put water in the iron to use it to touch up some pants and the water POURED out the bottom!
6) I finally laid down near midnight and found blood in the center of one of the pillow cases. There were NO OTHER ROOMS at any property or I wouldn't have stayed here to begin with. I threw the pillow on the floor and tried to sleep.
7) The lobby is still closed and you have to check in/out at a little window. The window sill and tray where you have to pass your id and payment is nasty.

Everything else with the room was fine. It was noisy, lots of people talking, road noise and sirens. I hope I never have to stay in anything like this ever again, I really had no choice other than the car.
