My husband and I booked a site here with friends for July 4th weekend so we could kayak the Elkhorn Creek. From the moment we arrived the place was full of activity. The campground reminded me of a small almost community like place. The grounds were clean but what made it better were the people. The staff was super friendly... More

Campground was a small almost community like place. It was very clean but what made it better was the people. The staff was super friendly and out neighbors whom have a permanent spot there were soooooo nice. They even stopped by one morning and asked if we had any trash they could throw away with theirs. We camp very frequently... More

Wife is a traveling nurse. So needless to say we looked at a lot of campgrounds near Lexington. Our choice was KRCG. It wasn't our first choice, but Im glad we ended up here. Im a novice at living in an RV. We arrived in the rain to set up. What would have taken me hours, took Russ and Jim... More

I was not familiar with The Kentucky River Camp Grounds before we got there. I found it online due to its location to the Bourbon Trail. It was the perfect place for us to set up camp for a few nights. We met the nicest people! The Office and Campground staff were SO wonderful and everyone on site (most of... More

I camped in a tent for one night at Kentucky River Camp Grounds and I had a really positive experience. The office staff welcomed me, showed me to my site (which was close to the rest room -- something I'd asked for when I made the reservation), and then went back to the office to retrieve the bag of ice... Campers are literally so close that one's awning lacked touching the next camper by inches. You're back to back so close that if you both had windows open you could reach out and hand something to the next camper. We came in on a Friday night and were not able to get the spot we had reserved because 5 vehicles... More

We had reserved a tent site a few weeks ahead. The day we came it had been raining so all the tent sites were completely soaked. We asked the manager since they didn’t have a dry tent site that could we stay on a RV site she was very rude and made us pay extra for a dry RV site.... More
