Garry and Shelly were friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and provided a wonderful experience in a historic house restored to its original condition with modern amenities. We could not be more pleased with the house, the owners, and the beautiful sites on the Bonavista Peninsula, situated between Trinity and Bonavista Cape.

Garry and Shelley are consummate hosts. We felt at home from the moment we arrived, and the Newfoundlander Suite made us feel like dignitaries. A very nice extra touch is the 8:30pm gathering for all guests, with tea, sweets, and cheese and crackers. We got to know Garry and Shelley better in a relaxed setting. On our second night, a... Gary immediately greeted us by our name, helped us with our luggage, recommended the places to eat. What a welcome! And the evening get together is the best way to learn about life in NFL, with other (local) guests sharing their experience, and visiting guests giving their recommendations. A memorable night and stay in NewFinland ( those who we shared... More

We spent 4 nights at Captain Blackmore's B + B. The location was perfect to tour the area from Trinity to Bonavista. Shelly and Gary treat you like family ..... great rooms and breakfasts (your choices from an extensive menu). We felt comfortable and we were able to relax when we got back to the B+B. This was our very first experience at a Bed and Breakfast. Gary set the bar extremely high. The house is amazing and the welcome that we got from Gary was fabulous (we did not get to meet Shelly). The hospitality, the local information, the wonderful gathering for tea in the evening to chat with other guests, the breakfast, the view... More

We stayed for three nights in June, 2015. Gary and Shelly are the most hospitable and helpful hosts one could ever want. Made to order delicious hot breakfast in the morning, tea/coffee with snacks and wonderful conversation in the evening. The home has been lovingly restored and is perched at the water's edge. Our room had a fabulous, huge balcony... More

I stayed here with my kids in August. We had a great time. Gary was very helpful suggesting things to see in the nearby area. I think he sensed my kids were getting a little restless! The town of Port Union was very interesting, a must see. At breakfast the next morning, Shelly told some of the history, obviously very... More

We stayed here for one night in may 2013 and really enjoyed it! The house was just beautifully restored and we got a room with sea view and lots of charm.
