Love-love-love the Jailer's Inn Bed & Breakfast! We were treated like "VIP" for our two night stay. Very Important Prisoner, that is!! We stayed in the room that is still an actual jail cell. The B&B offers more luxurious rooms but we thought it would be 'something different' to stay in the cell. We had so much fun laughing about...

Very nice the rooms were comfortable and clean . They did a great job turning an old jail into a B&B . The staff was great and could not be more friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was served in the courtyard great food and atmosphere. Easy walk to restaurants and bars. Take the jail house tour very interesting....

Stayed for a 3 day weekend to visit historical Bardstown--The site of the old Jail of the town. We enjoyed our room with adjacent sitting room area----very comfortable and appointed well. We had our breakfast on the grounds ---lovely walled in courtyard type setting each morning. The Innkeeper Paul and staff were very attentive to our needs, friendly and a...

My husband and I recently toured Kentucky and were EXTREMELY lucky to have visited the Jailer's Inn in Bardstown. This inn is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. It is an old county jail and has been converted to a B&B. We stayed in the jail cell which has been converted to a room. What an experience! After...

Very nice B&B! The owner could not have been any nicer. He was very gracious and offered information on the town of things to do and places to eat. Room was clean and very nice. The back end of the hotel is still set up as a jail. Cool history in the building. We had a great breakfast in the...

A fantastic place! We stayed in both the Colonial and family suites. Both were clean and inviting. The staff was very sweet and helpful. Breakfast was very good. All in all, an excellent stay! We'll be back.

Right out of the gate, the employees were warm and totally welcoming. I stayed (alone) in the cute jail cell room at the back. They did a great job at maintaining the look and feel of the jail cell (original bunks still attached to the walls), yet adding a comfy bed and a few modern amenities. Yes, the room can...

The Jailers Inn is such a different place to stay. Very interesting history; not your typical B&B. Despite it's colorful past, this place was very comfortable. We stayed in the colonial room. The bed was so comfy. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The host, Paul, is lots of fun. You can tell he loves what...

Thank you. I do enjoy what I do at Jailer's Inn, but mostly I enjoy the interesting people that come and stay with us. Thank you for staying with us and please come back and be a "repeat offender" at Jailer's Inn.

We liked our night of imprisonment, the jailer was kindly, and our king-bedded cell clean and comfy too. All the good restaurants and shops are a short walk away. The communal breakfast was tasty, though high in sugar and fat (this is just a personal preference - we try to eat simple low carb food at breakfast). You will enjoy,...

This is our fifth visit to the Jailer's Inn in the heart of Bardstown. Paul, our host, has been here each and every time offering warm and comfortable accommodations. The yard in back is a great private place to sip bourbon with other guests, and Mammy's across the street is perfect for lunch or dinner. We love it!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick limestone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation. However, Jailer's Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer's Inn, circa 1819, in the center of Bardstown, Kentucky offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer's Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our seven guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and offer private bathrooms, some with a double Jacuzzi. All located in the renovated front jail, built in 1819. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling, sobering look at former conditions in the old Nelson County jail used in full operation up until 1987. Catch a glimpse of life seldom seen in these two historic jails listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it's difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard, a place to visit forlorn relatives or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. Come "do time" in jail and unlock an adventure in history. Whether you sleep in the elegant Victorian Room, rest and read in the Library Room or enjoy the peaceful setting of the Garden Room, it will be a "captivating experience." ... more   less
