We have been to the Midland Railroad Hotel three times this fall and have enjoyed each visit immensely. This is a historic hotel in the town of Wilson, Kansas, which is very different than the typical hotel along I-70. It is a jewel. We stayed in room 208, which is a corner room with a King bed and bathroom. We... More

What a cool hotel! Originally built in 1899, the 2003 restoration made this charming hotel grand again. Friendly staff, nice rooms, beautiful lobby and good food means we'll be back again for sure. Bonus, world class mountain biking 10 miles away on the Switch Grass trail system at Wilson State Park. If you're making the haul across the prairies, do... More

Step back in time at the Midland Railroad Hotel. It's a wonderful stone building that's been renovated to the period of 1920's. They have an engaging tavern to relax in after you finish your drive for the day. Lovely Mission style furnishings. The dinner meals are fantastic.

The renovation of this historic hotel was well done to keep the character of the hotel and to update the property. Modern sized beds make for a tighter fit in smaller rooms in older hotels, but the furnishings match the time period and are comfortable. Nice bathroom, clean accommodations, good wifi and plenty of choices on the continental breakfast. No... More

This hotel is THE place to stay. We usually stay in Hays or Russell but so glad we decided on the Midland. The hotel is beautiful, extremely well kept up, breakfast was excellent and the staff is awesome. Our room was small but the price was low. The restaurant in the bottom floor of the hotel was excellent with a... More

After a fire, this hotel was remodeled. It was done very well. It is located near the RR tracks, so when the freight train went through about 11 p.m., you sure knew it. The restaurant in the basement was very good!

What a lovely independent hotel! I was looking for a way to cut a few hours off my drive from Kansas City to Denver, and I found this hotel just by looking at a map of all hotels off of I-70 a few hours out. I decided to take a chance on it, and I'm so glad I did! This... More

Stayed in early October. Beautiful woodwork. High ceilings. Hardwood floors thru out.Very comfortable king size bed. Only a couple of small items that I would change. I would replace the paper signs indicating which way to go in the hallways and would upgrade the shades in the windows. I think it would class it up. Had a very nice dinner... More

We stayed recently at this hotel and had an excellent experience. Great dining downstairs and the rooms were very clean and furnished nicely. The town is small and quaint. We took the scenic drive from Wilson to Lucas and enjoyed visiting Lucas too! Hotel is reportedly haunted but we did not experience any problems. Would highly recommend staying here and... More

This is an amazing boutique hotel. The building is historic but the rooms have been updated. The updates were done with a nod to the history of the hotel and all the furnishings are in the appropriate style. The hotel has an adequate continental breakfast featuring local Czech specialties. (The town has a strong Czech influence as the local town... More
