A little distance away from the hustle and bustle but very peaceful and a stones throw to Lee Point beach for the perfect picture sunsets. The beds say L double but infact only a queen and quite small. Comfy but small if you're a king bed couple. Big cold fridge and super cold air con but wifi was not even obtainable. Staff are polite and pools are super clean. Housekeeping was a let down on the last night. No cleaning and no fresh towels. Asked reception twice and only on second visit was I given 4 small handtowels so that was definately a points loser. The bed and housekeeping lost a star each otherwise good value for money if booked early.

We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious our room was. Neat, clean & light. Although most rooms were booked out, it was still nice and quiet. We only ate twice at the restaurant - the food was satisfactory, pizza was good, cocktails better, though it’s not open for lunch, so we headed into town most days or made a sandwich - the full sized fridge came in handy with plates & cutlery.
The location, so close to the beach and bush track, was great for long walks and spectacular sunsets.
Transport - we didn’t have a car and there was no shuttle or bus nearby, so we caught daily ubers into town. Highly recommend the waterfront lagoon for swimming & restaurants.
Overall a lovely restful stay with polite staff in a quiet setting.

I was very happy to stay at this accommodation, it was spotless, spacious with a comfortable bed and very pleasant reception area. The restaurant was good and the staff pleasant. The lady at reception was exceptionally helpful and even let me access my room earlier than the usual check in time. I loved being away from the CBD as it made it a lovely quiet spot though you would want to have a car.

The website is very different to the Motel when you get there, I would not call it a resort and the reception is not 24 hours, closes 8pm.
The bathroom has no light switch, but comes on automatically and stays on for 15 minutes after the door is closed lighting up the whole room. I was told by Management this is for safety... not needed as the smoke alarm emits a big circle of light on to the floor so between that and the bathroom light the room is not dark.
The aircon has no remote and temperature cannot be altered. It was set at 24 but the room was freezing and only option is too turn off.
The room was clean, bed comfortable and facilities in the room adequate. The pillows are the great big ones that stand up on their own, may look good but not good for the neck and very uncomfortable.
Room service had not arrived within an hour of placing an order and when I phoned they had written down wrong room number ever though I had told them the number 3 times. It was finally delivered, cold dessert sandwiched between 2 hot items and they still charged a delivery fee of $5 even when over an hour late. The meal was cold, I suppose as it had sat around for an hour, garlic bread was nice. When I advised management of this, I was basically called a liar and made out I had given the wrong room number.
The food is basic and at breakfast had to return a poached egg as the middle was clear raw egg. Also a long way out of town with no shops nearby.

Please do not anticipate anything on its own website to be true: This hotel reminds me of an old resort that is on the verge of closing down. The common areas were not cleaned during our 6 night stay, to the point the tables were covered in bat droppings, dirty ashtrays that were not emptied and we noticed a dirty bowl on our 2nd day and it was still sitting there when we left 5 days later. Shuttle Bus - Not running to either airport or shopping centre Free Newspaper - No free newspaper Reception open 24 hours - reception only open from 8am to 8pm Restaurant burnt down 3 weeks ago and still not open, we would have liked to been advised of this prior to arrival as the hotel is a $12 uber ride to the closest shops and food outlets. Darwin is a $35 to $40 uber ride. Had to ask to have room serviced one day and constantly had to ask to replenish coffee and milk supplies. The water pressure was none existent in the shower and it took 48 hours to have a leaking shower hose replaced, though this still did not improve the pressure at all. We also found one of the male staff members on reception to be very condescending and a smart alec.

The rooms were nice and big, I had to keep going and getting my key sorted. I could only use my key once and it would not work and had to keep getting a new key. Breakfast was due to be served at 7:30 but each day it was about 15mins late and cold. The guy of the reception was warning people that its unsafe to ride their bikes due to the Aboriginals.

I would not call it a ‘resort’. The photos on the website make the place look much nicer than it actually is. In reality all it is, is pretty unattractive large buildings in a very large empty space. Hardly any trees or greenery.
The large resort style pool is the only thing remotely ‘resort’ related here & even that is being generous. & the massive grassed area just had a couple lounge chairs laying around. There is no playground or water slides or anything at all for kids.
There is no security gates on entry, so anyone is welcome to drive in & access your vehicles, etc.
Rooms are comfortable & nice, but that’s about all I can say that’s positive. The place was pretty much empty & yet we were put in a room that overlooked the road. & you couldn’t leave the back door opened to enjoy the weather as there is no security screen.
Overall, not a great place to stay. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

I have stayed at Club Tropical Resort Darwin a few times now in the last year or so. It’s location is ideal, not far from RDH which was a convenience for me being a hospital patient visitor from Alice Springs. Casuarina square is not far from the resort either.
Just up the road there is lovely beach to walk on and also a boat ramp area with picnic facilities, roughly 5 minute drive.
I stayed in room 204, which unfortunately during the morning sun copped the direct sunlight at the rear patio area, on previous visit privacy screens between rooms where not there. The position of these screens could have been better thought out in terms of providing shade against the hot morning sun.
The pool is rather big and is adequately shaded in both pool areas, the resort grounds are well maintained and kept clean.
They have a great bunch of friendly house keeping ladies that did a great job of keeping the rooms clean everyday.
The only downside is the traffic of cars heading out to the boat ramp area in the early hours of the morning, which occasionally ruins the otherwise peace and quiet and bird song going at the patio.
The pole lights along the grassed area weren’t working and made it quite dark at night sitting on the patio but managed with room curtain open.
For any future visits, this resort will be my go to place to stay.

We stayed in a pool side villa for 7 nights whilst visiting family in Darwin for Xmas. We had family & friends stay in 3 other villas and we asked many moons ago if we could all be together but 3 were and the other one separated. Wonderful BBQ facilities which we went to use on Xmas day however there was no gas left!.. Rather than annoy reception on Xmas day my nephew who lives nearby brought over a gas bottle and saved the day. The lawns are mowed regularly but a whipper snip is also needed around edges and walls. One evening it rained hard & regular but the automatic sprinklers came on all the same even though the ground was already drenched. I mentioned in a previous review of this place several years ago that the gardens will look absolutely beautiful once they take off and this has proven to be true. We will stay again as we love the restaurant – the serves are huge and well worth it.

This place has so much potential and could be made into a lovely resort. Staff are all lovely and rooms are nice but the grounds and restaurant needs updating. The restaurant still has it Christmas tree up lol. Has a huge pool but needs updating maybe rendering some walls around the pool and updating the pool fence and offering some poolside service. You have these lovely poolside bungalows looking onto an old metal pool fence.

Hi Mal,
We have plenty of grass to run around on & 2 pools. We will be adding a playground in the near future, I'm just not entirely sure of the timeline.
What dates were you looking at?
Lynne
"It's a long way out of town so if you don't have a car, I'd recommend you stay closer to the city. A small shuttle bus provided by the Resort would be ideal. "
