Just returned from a fantastic week's holiday. L'Arollaie is definitely above average for French apartments. We were four people in an apartment for eight and any more would have been a push, mainly because there were two bedrooms with small double beds, so we used the third room (bunks) and the sofa bed. Main criticism is just one toilet! With a bit of imagination they could have put another one in. Also lack of comfortable seating - just the sofa bed - in the living area. The central lounge was supposed to have an open fire, but it was never lit, and the area was a bit soul-less. We didn't get much noise from other apartments, but it was a quiet week. Would certainly recommend L'Arollaie, not least because of its location immediately opposite the fast-moving Plan Peisey 6 man chair and the Vanoise. Fabulous views from the apartment across the valley. Only a few minutes walk to hire equipment and to the patisserie for the morning bread run to loosen the legs, although you can order it at reception. Restaurants nearby are ok - the Solan (they do take-away) or the Vanoise Hotel - or ten minutes into Vallandry to Le Refuge Pizzeria. The local Sherpa in Vallandry is well stocked. The snow and weather were absolutely fantastic and no crowds or lift queues even at the renowned bottlenecks. They seem to be investing in new lifts in the whole Paradiski area - we didn't go on a button lift all week!! Mountain restaurants are improving, certainly on the La Plagne side. All in all, the location makes up for the downside.

We stayed twice at l'Arollaie last year, so I suppose that says something from the off. It is well located, comfortable and new. I don't know about 4 star but the appartments are large and generally well equipped.

The parking is free but its just get what you can on the road. Generally not too much of a problem except if you leave mid day then the proximity to the Vanoise express will mean you can't get close until the skiing is over for the day.

The Pool is fun but small and was very crowded when we were there but the kids enjoy it.

You have to make your own beds and the reception service is only available for a limited time, nice when she was there though. The litchen was pretty decent but only a Microwave syle oven. Eat out....there are plenty of OK places nothing really fantastic though.
You might as well pay for cleaning at the end of your stay, as they expect a perfect standard.

We stayed at two extremes of the residence one room right next to reception the other miles away down two lifts as the residence rambles down the mountain.

Good points, great views, decent size rooms, location close to the lifts pretty central in the village very competatively priced.

The resort is excellent loads of great slopes at all levels and NO LIFT QUEUES!!!! Very nice family atmosphere. Excellent snow.

BTW I can really recommend New Generation Ski School down the road in Vallandry much much better than ESF. John and his small team are all great fun and really seem to get a buzz from helping you improve.

I am just in the process of booking again! See you there!

The appartments are located directly opposite the ski lift for Peisey so not far to travel after a long day skiing. The rooms are perfect for what you need. We shared an appartment for 8 with 6 people and think we would have struggled with 2 extra, also one toilet between 6 is tight at times! The only other downside is the whole complex is not very sound-proof and you can easily be woken up or kept awake. Otherwise very clean and tidy with friendly staff.

The pictures from the website do not represent the true image; both the rooms and the pool has been made to look very spacious and large but really the pool comes up to your hips and is half the size of the picture(the pool is freezing), the rooms are very small and it says to fit 6 when it hardly fit 5. We turned up and our bath plug was broken so we couldn't have a bath, we told the manager and still after 7 days it was not fixed. Also what was ridiculous was all the facilities shut at 7.30/8 and was not open on a Saturday so if you are travelling for a skiing holiday, the times you want to use the facilities you can't, also the front door also is double locked at 8 so therefore you have to go round the back and up loads of flights of stairs to get to the main road, and also when checking out you cannot use the front door so you have to carry all your luggage up these flights of stairs. Also when leaving you are expected to leave the room tidy which is fair enough but they expect stuff like clean windows but do not give you cleaning supplies the con is you either pay for supplies or pay for a cleaner which is ridiculous amounts of money. The websites says free wifi, it's not! It's €25 euros for wifi on 3 devices for a week, we payed for the wifi but the wifi was extremely poor!

The location of the apartment is great, just opposite the Plan-Peisey chair-lift. However that was about all this place has going for it. The lounge closed at 8pm every night, so if you wanted to meet up and chill with friends you either had to go out, even if you didn't feel like it, or have a mass of people in your room. Rooms were average. Unfortunately the staff attitude and level of service totally let the place down.

We had a transfer at 9pm and was asked to leave the building at 8pm, so they could close the lounge and reception area. When we complained about having to wait outside for an hour we were told it was not their problem!! Fantastic customer service Groupe Lagrange!

Also just as a warning you are expected to clean the windows (among other unreasonable requests) before leaving, or you lose your deposit. I can understand losing a deposit for breakages etc, but for not cleaning the windows? That is ridiculous! I have never experienced this in the past and I've stayed in a few self catered apartments/Villas before.

Needless to say I will not be staying there again and would not recommend it.

- Breakfast
The hotel orders breakfast for the guests. The croisants and bread are very good. Prices
seem ok.

- kitchen
The mini kitchen provided was very basic. Good enough for 6 men to make some bacon and eggs. Don't expect too much.

- Bathroom
The Shower worked, water was warm. There was a flow of cold air, but yea that's ok.

- Sleeping room
The sheets were clean, the covers warm. The beds were big enough. Matresses were quite hard. Everything as expected.

- Reception
The reception is not always open. don't expect to be helped outside of these hours unless explicitely agreed. Not very practical (from 8 to 20). Because of this we missed to order bread once and did not achieve to visit the sauna/hamam.

- amenities
There is a sauna and a hamam (and a pool). But we failed to visit those.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment for the February half term.

The other reviews I had read indicated this wouldn't be great, but for the price charged this is a really good quality apartment block which has a fantastic location adjacent to the main gondola to La Plagne and ski lifts into Les Arcs.

I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a fantastic ski location with all the required facilities.

Below I have highlighted some key points;
1. The location is absolutely perfect and only 100 metres from the ski lift.
2. The ski hire shop is on the opposite side of the road.
3. The apartments are warm and comfortable - we chose a 3 bed for 5 of us and this was perfect.
4. The apartment had a hob, microwave and dishwasher - what else do you need?
5. Each apartment has a ski boot cupboard in the locker room which was well located.
6. As a self catering place be prepared to bring your own food etc or buy locally from the Sherpa supermarket.
7. Parking is free.

I have read all of the other negative views and I can understand some of the points (e.g. the pool is small) but for the price charged and with the great location this is a great choice for a skiing holiday!

Highly recommend a visit!

When we arrived we had several malfunctions and failures, noted here in the entry inventory of the premises:
-a missing teapot
-a missing spatula
A missing factual lid
- no welcome kit (received after claim at reception)
- broken dishwasher handle
- dirty coffee maker on arrival
- Broken coffee pourer cover (received another after claim)
- bed linen stained with bristles
- the blackout curtain of the living room was torn and let through the light which is very penalizing for those sleeping in the living room in the convertible.
-a deteriorated bedside lamp shade

Upon arrival, we received the inventory to check with a list of equipment. We deduce that by default, the equipment must be present. We returned the inventory the next morning.

This is a lot of dysfunction for a 4-star residence, some of which are unsolved and penalizing for the stay, including the blackout curtain torn here in photo.

I would also add to the long list of disappointments that the hot tub sold on your website is not found in the pool/sauna/hammam area. So we deduce non-existent, which adds a false benefit not included in the price paid. The Lagrange website and travelski mention the presence of this hot tub, which is not attached to a Lagrange holiday booking otherwise we would not talk about it today.

Finally, the torn curtain did not allow us to rest properly. We were awakened every day at 6 am by daylight.
We raised it at the reception on Sunday who replied that the replacement of this curtain was the responsibility of the owners of the house and were voted in general assembly.

Moreover, considering the comment on the Lagrange website, we are not the only ones to have reported this problem.
A little later, during our stay, we spoke with a homeowner in your residence. we told him about the curtain change.
He told us that this was not true, and that it was up to Lagrange to restore the curtains.

We regret this lack of honesty on the part of the reception of the residence.

I am available to speak with the Residence Manager, who has not responded to my last 3 complaints by email.

The +:
Residence very well located for skiing with spacious apartment. Indoor swimming pool. Hammam and Sauna (payable from the 2nd use)

THE -:
Only 2 people (1 reception and 1 technical) are there to run the residence, which involves:
- very limited opening hours (no possibility of taking your apartment before 4 p.m. on Saturday for example, which involves a very long and painful queue upon arrival), you should not need help or contact the reception
- lots of things to do by yourself: inventory, bring dirty laundry (sheets, towels, etc.) to level 0 (which is really not hygienic)

Really yellowed pillows and apartments that need to be refreshed
