An excellent small hotel. Although useable as a double my room was small but because I was alone it was large enough for my needs. Unusually for a ski hotel there was a very good single use price. It was very clean, with friendly staff and cannot fault the service. I was on half-board and the meals were good. It has a friendly, busy bar. It was 400m to the free ski lift to the Peisey Plan, part of the Paradiski ski area.

Just come back from a short ski trip staying at La Tarine - perfect base. Cosy room, straightforward french cuisine including local specialities. Celine the owner couldn’t do more for you. The hotel is a short walk from the small bucket lift which connects you to a chair lift in Plan Peisey taking you to Les Arcs and the Vanoise Express taking you to La Plagne so it couldn’t be better situated between the two resorts. The village is quiet with a small supermarket and an amazing cheese shop just over the road!

our party of 3 enjoyed our stay at the Chalet La Tarine. The hosts were very welcoming and the hotel itself was very comfortable. We had a family room on the first level, although there were only 2 of us. The main room had twin bedss and had a 2nd smaller room just of it, again with twin beds. The room, and en-suite bathroom were bright, airy and spotlessly clean.

We were on a half board basis and found the food very good. Breakfast was buffet style with fruit juice, coffee, tea etc, cereals, natural yoghurt, fruit, breads, ham, cheese. Dinner at night was usually 3 courses and a set menu, although some nights we also had a cheese course where Celine, the hostess, came round with a cheese board and you could choose which you wanted. The menues were displayed a day in advance and the hosts were very good in catering for the more fussy eater in our party and were happy to offer an alternative to any meal.

The hotel is located in Peisey, a small, traditional village. In the village is a small supermarket, a ski rental shop, a bakery, butcher's, cheese shop and a small gift shop. There is also another small restaurant in the village. Unfortunately there were no areas in the village for sitting outside to have a drink or coffee when you came off the slopes and the village lost the sun quite early.

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Lonzagne lift which takes you up to the village of Plan Peisey. This lift opened at 08.55 and closed at 18.50. From Plan Peisey you can take the lift into the Les Arcs ski area or the Vanoise cable car over to La Plagne. These lifts opened at 09.15 which we felt was quite late.

In Plan Peisey there were a few bars and restaurants where you could sit out at the end of your skiing and enjoy the last of the evening sunshine.

We loved the area as it was so easy to get around both Les Arcs and La Plagne. And if the weather isn't so good, there are lots of tree-lined slopes in the Peisey-Vallandry area.

We would definitely stay in this area again. Probably in the Plan Peisey or Vallandry area rather than Peisey-Nancroix. If the Lonzagne lift stayed open later in the evening we would definitely come back.

This is the most charming Family owned hotel you can find. As Les Arcs and La Plagne mostly offer main stream Ski resort hosting, La Tarine is a very charming little hotel in the village of Nancroix, just between the two alps and as near Vanoise Express, the cabin linking the two mountain massives you can get. If you prefer to live in the old genuine village instead of the modern resorts the is the perfect spot. Celine manages La Tarine and are doing it with great hospitality. And her husband Greg manages the kitchen in a great way, serving great three dishes dinners that really fill hungry skiers up. Cleaning is really good and the rooms are a bit small but seems to be renewed recently and are therefore very fresh.
As we had some struggle with lost luggage Celine and Greg were very nice lending skiing clothes so we could ski anyway till the luggage showed up. This welcoming attitude and all their attention on top of that really makes you feel welcome and cared for, and typical for La Tarine.

Family of 4.

Celine is a great host (and works very hard to keep everyone happy) and our initial thoughts were positive. The room was a little small but this was not really a problem. The rooms were cleaned daily and new towels provided.

Breakfast was basic but good with eggs, toast , cereal and juice on offer.

The evening meals were good, and service ok. The evening meal time was 19.30 which was quite late for children, especially those who were skiing. The restaurant and bar did get very busy on Wednesday and Thursday.

Greggs bar (in the basement) was ok and has a pool table (and pole!!!). I'm not sure this bar works with the hotel?

Unfortunately the Tuesday Karaoke was extremely loud and kept us all awake until 2am.

Friday night DJ night was also loud and again a very late night with very drunk resident shouting around the hotel (we didn't expect this in a quiet village) and again awake until 2am waiting for some peace and quiet.

Its worth noting that the reception closes at 10pm.

For the price it was ok, but for a family it is not somewhere I would return.

Hello, Thanks for your comment on your recent stay in our hotel. We knew during your stay, because you tell us, than your were disturb by the karaoke and the DJ night. Usually, there’s just one animation on the Sunday evening in the bar, this proper week, we get a group in the hotel which was asking for a DJ night with their own DJ. The bar is not under the rooms but we will do some refurbishement this off season to arrange the noise problem between the animations in the bar and the hotel, even if we organise just one’s a week.

Our family party of 5 have enjoyed an excellent short break over new year at the Chalet la Tarine. This is a very well run and well located family run hotel. The food was home cooked and delicious, especially the six course New Year Eve meal for which no extra supplement was charged. It's a short walk to the "televillage" lift which takes you straight up to the Peisey lift with full access to the wonderful Les Arcs ski area. The hotel is sensibly priced and is definitely a good value option for this area. The rooms were comfortable.

we stayed as a family of 4 for 5 nights over New Year 2011. We have 2 boys 7 and 11 and they had a room connecting to ours which was great. Communication between the hotel and ourselves prior to our stay was excellant and they booked our ski passes for us saving a substantial amount of money. The food was very good on the half board basis and the a la carte food served along side to other customers looked superb. Evening meal was served from 7.30 which was quite late with the kids. there are 2 bars right next to the hotel which are good as well as ski rental, a bakery, convienience store and cheese shop but that is it, it is a small village. You can take the lobster pots up to Vallandy where there are many more bars and reataurants but that closes at 6pm so its a long walk about 2.5miles or a taxi/bus ride. Skiing was great as with thre Paradski pass you have all of Les Arcs and Peisey to explore which is massive. We would definately visit again.

We were in the Alps last week and went to visit friends in Les Arcs. We were recommended to this great little hotel. we arrived without a reservation but were offered a family room for the 3 of us. The room was clean and a good shower followed by a nice buffet breakfast. The price was also very reasonable for the one night we stayed.

I recently spent two weeks at this wonderful little hotel in Peisey, (NOT Nancroix that is 100% wrong Tripadvisor) while on a ski holiday in the Paradiski ski region. The staff and owners were fantastic, with Celine and her family being the perfect hosts. Both Celine and her husband spoke fluent English which certainly made the trip easier (although don't let that dissuade you visitors from speaking French) and she had my ski pass all set. Celine also could have had my carte neige (ski insurance) already set up also but I neglected to inform her about getting it. She did everything to make my stay easy and very pleasant. The hotel was centrally located in Peisey with the butcher, baker, and local cheese shop being next door, the small grocer and ski shop five minutes away, and the lift access to the ski area being about ten minutes walk (in ski boots). Breakfast was excellent with cold cuts and cheese, bread, butter and fruit preserves, an egg cooker, and a variety of cereals and yogurts. The dinner menu was good although I always had the set course meal which normally consisted of an appetizer, main course, cheese, and dessert. The wait staff was excellent with the barman and waitress in the main restaurant dealing with sometimes large crowds (the first few days the hotel and restaurant was fairly quiet but the last week was pretty full, especially the restaurant). All the meals were exceptionally good. The rooms were very clean and well thought out with some having balconies which was great to see the afternoon apres-ski parties in front of the hotels, kids playing and screaming in the main street, and the general life in a small French mountain village. I never watched the tv but one was in the room, and the wifi was free during my stay. My two week stay was an exceptional value with my entire bill (including room and half-board, bar bill, tip, and ski pass for 13 days) being just about 1600 euros. I certainly would recommend staying here and plan to do so if given the chance. An excellent hotel.

Just got back from La Tarine after a great stay. The hotel is everything you would expect from a budget hotel and more. Celine and the staff cannot do enough to help you make your stay good. We arrived and were handed our discounted ski passes. We chose to rent from the intersport Les Melezes at the top of the lift so less walking carrying skis but there is a shop in the village also. The food was good and you could vary without any difficulty. My only gripe was the size of the towels which were tiny and only one each. The family room was just right for me and a son and would suit a family with smaller children. The wall between my bed and next door quite thin but not a real problem. Overall a great stay. Nothing to do in evenings though and only one other bar in village so not somewhere to go if you need evening entertainment.
