It has been months now since my husband and I stayed at this gem. We collected the key from a house nearby. It was very quitet, and the accommodation was just lovely. I still look at the photos of the lovely flowers in our room and am reminded of how much we enjoyed being there. We built a fire and... More

Stayed for a second time at Cascades during June 2014 (the first time back in 2008), and got a very comfortable, atmospheric room in the convict overseer's quarters. Beds were very comfortable, but the highlight was the magnificent fireplace which, in winter, is magnificent. The property itself is on stunning farmland with water views, and the walking tracks near the... More

Our family of four stayed in the Rotten Row cottage one night over Easter. The cottage is stunningly renovated and our only gripe would be no gas in the BBQ! We were able to use the well equipped kitchen however so it wasn't a huge problem. The kids loved exploring the private museum. The fire with ample wood supplied warmed up... More

A great little place with it's own museum and everything you could need! The bed was comfy and the living room really cute. Easy distance from port arthur although coming back here after the ghost tour can be a little scary. We brought our own food as there isn't much around and found it easy to cook!

We stayed for one night in the workshop cottage and never actually met the owners at either check-in or check-out (keys are left hanging at reception) but had a good stay overall thanks to the overall peace and quiet. The setting is very nice and the cottage is well appointed although functional rather than luxurious. Breakfast was very basic for... More

We stayed in the charming Rotten Row cottage and loved it. There were 4 of us and the bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable. There were no complaints from any of us, just a couple of minor things (i.e. the BBQ gas ran out and it took us a while to find the laundry…just so you know, it's in... More

We decided to stay here at the last minute and are so glad we did. We rented the luxury spa cottage and other than the kitchen which was very basic it was very luxurious and also huge! Set in a gorgeous location we went for a walk in the early evening to see the old convict pier and then wandered... More

We were in Tassie to celebrate the 160th anniversary of our Great-grandparents wedding. My Great-grandfather had been a "guest" at Cascades from 1847 – 1849 and I'm sure his stay wasn't as pleasant as ours. The accommodation buildings have been lovingly restored and maintained. We stayed for three nights in the Overseer’s Cottage and found it extremely comfortable and well... More

We booked only one night and wished we had stayed longer. As many of the previous reviews stated this is a must if you are going to Port Arthur. After a long day travelling from Melbourne via Launceston it was better than we expected. We picked up the keys and were in the workshops. The character of the accommodation is... More

This place is simply amazing, especially reading the history & restoration of the premises. The "Workshop" which we stayed in was simply beautiful. It was CLEAN, spacious and had everything you'd need....... the owners were a gorgeous couple and obviously have worked really hard at providing top class accommodation. The local walks were beautiful & the museum fascinating. The location... More
