A peaceful and private rural retreat on a working farm with a choice of two fully self-contained train carriages, located just off Burley Griffin Way, 22 kms west of Temora and 14 kms east of the historic village of Ariah Park. A perfect stopover on your long distance journey away from passing traffic or stay a while and explore the Riverina. The City Circle train carriage can accommodate a single or a couple and is an open plan carriage with a king size bed. Furniture in this carriage includes a billiard table. The Overlander carriage is furnished with family antiques and can accommodate up to five guests with three sleeping compartments - a queen bed, a double bed and a single bed. Both carriages are self-contained, fully furnished and have reverse cycle air conditioning. All linen, towels, toiletries, cooking facilities, crockery, cutlery are provided. The tariff includes a generous continental breakfast hamper for each morning of stay. A home away from home - books, magazines, board games, DVDs, CDs are also provided. Each carriage has a weber gas BBQ and outdoor furniture if you wish to bring provisions for your evening meal or take a 15 minute drive to Ariah Park to dine at the iconic Ariah Park Hotel or the Ariah Park White Rose Cafe. We are ideally located as a base to explore the wider Riverina being within 1 - 1.5 hours of Wagga Wagga and Griffith and a number of regional towns along the way and offer reduced rates for stays of two nights and over. The carriages are set in park-like gardens overlooking a water garden and have rural views from all windows. We have preserved our heritage on this fifth-generation family farm and guests are welcome to have a guided tour of our pioneers cottage with family memorabilia dating back to the late 1800s, our collection of horse drawn farming equipment and to meet our Clydesdales. Guests are able to wander through our rambling country garden with over 200 roses, perennials and succulents or go bushwalking and birdwatching. Temora is home to the Temora Aviation Museum, the Bundawarrah Centre incorporating the Temora Rural Museum and Lake Centenary, where the jetboats fly while Ariah Park is a well maintained 1920s heritage village with its own Echoes of Ariah Park Museum, collection of wool-brands, old farming machinery and a trail through the interpretive signs marking sites of the original Broken Dam Settlement.

We, city slickers, went to Ariah Park for Fanny Lumsden's Country Halls Tour and had two comfortable nights in the Overlander.
We found it amply large enough for each of us to have his own space, yet with a communal dining table and a large sitting/TV viewing room and outside. Fully airconditioned from both ends and geriatric friendly.
It was orientated so you could see the sunrise from one side and the sunset from the other. The stars shone brightly at night with the Southern Cross identifiable at a glance.
"Dining" facilities in the area were basic and the pub, with the exception of the two ladies from Elders, unwelcoming. It being a "pizza & pasta night", we would have been better off with bringing our own pre-cooked meals from home and re-heating them in the micro wave or used the gas BBQ provided.
The continental breakfast, with optional eggs provided, was quality and generous.
Our hosts, Rita & Lyndsay were outgoing and interesting.
Only regret is not checking out their garden of over 200 named roses (best seen in November), stone walls and ancient trees.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us John and Gary. It was a pleasure to meet you both and we appreciate your escapes from the city to regional New South Wales supporting regional businesses and events. The Fanny Lumsden Country Halls tour gives local communities the opportunity to fundraise by providing a BBQ meal on the evening of Fanny's show, in this case the neighbouring Mirrool community undertook the catering although the show was held in the Ariah Park Hall. It was unfortunate you were unable to dine in the dining room at Ariah Park Hotel as it is a beautifully restored pub with a lovely recently refurbished dining room. We hope you will return to the area one day and experience the friendly welcome extended to visitors by locals.

We spent two nights hosted on this beautiful property near Temora in NSW. We shared the Overlander carriage with friends and had a wonderful time. It’s quite unlikr any other B&B (in a good way!) and we would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy warm country hospitality in a unique surrounding. Our hosts Riat and Lyndsay left nothing out and thir attention to detail was admorable.

So if you’re looking for something different and memorable, get in touch!

We expected to have Michael Portillo (SBS-TV) turn up to admire the wonderful carriage that was ours for two nights. It was two nights to nowhere on this classic Australian property, the utter stillness of the night, the sunrise through the lounge car window. We wondered if the Orient Express was fitted out as well as our private carriage - proper double beds, correctly appointed kitchen and shower cabin that did not sway about at 100kmh. We can't think of the last train we took that had a dressing table with mirrors. Nobody even asked for our tickets at midnight. Two lovely old railway carriages sitting comfortably on a rural property. Rita took us through the property's collection of old carts, wagons and machinery. This is such an interesting and charming experience, especially so for those who love trains mixed with luxury and can't be bothered with timetables.

We were delighted to find the best and most unique B&B that suited us perfectly! An old City Circle train carriage transformed into a self contained accommodation unit with fabulous hosts Rita and Lyndsay.

We appreciated the information with the history of the farm and the carriages and the tour of the pioneer cottage by Lyndsay.

We were attending a Rotary conference in Temora and the carriage was perfect for us for the 2nights. We just wish we’d had more time to simply relax in the peaceful surrounds.

Everything was done to a high level with a very comfortable bed with lovely linen, a great bathroom setup with lots of complimentary goodies and lovely big towels, the kitchen had all we needed plus the delicious and generous breakfast hamper got our day off to a great start.

How cool is this place - and yes that’s a billiard table in the middle of the train! It’s quirky, cosy, comfy and has heaps of character!

Wonderful & quirky farmstay in quiet peaceful surrounds, we stayed in the larger Overlander carriage. Travelled in early spring so the mild nights were made for the open campfire with sundowners. Weber gas BBQ to cook on so you don't have to travel at night by car to either Ariah Park or Temora if you don't wish. Plenty of air cond for the warmer weather. The carriage is long with lots of rooms to spread out. The carriage is about 100 metres from both house and other carriage so far enough to feel private. Rita is the most friendly and helpful host. The breakfast hamper is glorious.

A fabulous three night stay. The City Circle carriage has been laid out and furnished thoughtfully and with great attention to the needs of couples. Rita and Lyndsay were charming and easy-going hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Intended as simply a brief stop as we headed further west, the Country Carriage B&B actually offered so much more than a bed for the night. The warm welcome from Rita and Lyndsay set the tone for what was to be an all too short stay in this secluded corner of NSW. Perfectly located to explore the local region, including the town of Temora and its superb air museum, our stay had a very personal feel, almost as though we had been welcomed into a family home. We enjoyed a beer by the fire pit handcrafted by Lyndsay, relaxed in the the old train carriage lovingly converted as a family project (amazing bed!) and were treated to fascinating tour of the vast collection of memorabilia which charts five generations of a single family farming the land. It was all over too soon - this was simple country hospitality at its best.

We stayed here recently on a surprise weekend away arranged by my wife. WOW. .what an absolutely wonderful place this is. Driving up through the farm and seeing two glorious railway carriages in their own peaceful settings and then being met by Rita who showed us around and explained everything so clearly. The City Circle carriage is absolutely divine being very well equipped yet retaining all the original charm and nostalgic feelings. Every part of this was stunning, from the pool table to the extremely comfy bed to the coffee making facilities and the breakfast ready for the next morning. Everything worked perfectly, the place was spotlessly clean and tidy, the surrounding gardens had such a wonderful abundance of bird life topped of by the two beautiful owls in the tree adjacent to our carriage. This is a must stay for anyone who craves a quiet, peaceful stay in wonderful surroundings in the country. Even the 60mm of rain overnight added to the overall wonderful experience and provided an exciting drive back to the main road. We really cannot recommended Country Carriages highly enough. We will certainly see you again soon. Many thanks, Dave and Sandra.

We wanted somewhere quiet and with open views, so the Country Carriages fit the bill perfectly.
We stayed 4 nights , taking advantage of the deal stay 4 nights, pay for 3. The accommodation was amazing at every turn. The restored and beautifully fitted out carriage, "City Circle", was much larger than it seems from the photos. So it felt luxurious to have so much space. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of supplies in bathroom and kitchen, the breakfast hamper was excellent. It was lovely to sit outside on the deck and watch the variety of birds, and to see and experience the big open skies. Rita and Lyndsay are such delightful hosts who obviously take great pride in their rural property. Nothing was too much trouble. The gardens are an absolute delight, especially when reading the guide supplied about what plants were planted where over the years, and you realise what a labour of love it is for the hosts. And the tour of the "Pioneer Cottage" on the property was an unexpected bonus. We had dinner on 2 of our 4 nights at Ariah Park pub, which is about 15 minutes drive away. And also visited the town of Collamon, which was really interesting.
Highly recommend this property, and we look forward to returning in the near future. Thanks Rita and Lyndsay!

Finally got away after the COVID lockdowns and we absolutely loved it. Rita and Lindsay were so welcoming and helpful. The City Circle carriage was perfect for 2 and we loved being able to sit by the outdoor fire in the evening. 4 nights of comfort. We will most definitely be back.
