Situated on 13 acres of lush tropical gardens, this Pacific Island retreat is on the south western coast of stunning Epi Island, only a half hour flight from Port Vila. Epi Guesthouse is one of Vanuatu's most unique tourism properties leading the way in Eco Tourism having won the Green Award in Vanuatu Tourism Awards two years in a row. Staying at the guesthouse gives travellers a chance to experience an alternative lifestyle first hand with the comforts of solar hot water, hydroelectricity and WiFi access. Epi Guesthouse is unique because it is a family home, with all the comforts of such, and guests very quickly feel more like they are staying with friends. All meals are shared with guests dining alfresco under the wide veranda, where many hours are spent engaged in stimulating and intelligent conversation, discussing and solving the problems of the universe. Epi Guesthouse is such an incredible and comfortable place to stay to unwind and relax. The immaculately handcrafted house is perfect for lazing about, with an endless supply of fresh coconuts, beautiful swimming spots & to top it all off Rob and Alix are amazing hosts. Absolutely recommended to anyone that is looking for a secluded retreat. Just a short cheap flight from Port Vila.

The Epi Island Guesthouse is truly a destination that visitors will remember forever! From the minute you step onto the soft, lush grass lawn you feel welcome and loved by the Guesthouse's wonderful hosts Alix and Rob. The guesthouse is rife with western amenities such as beautiful private hot showers (designed artfully by Rob himself!), luxurious beds, a full kitchen, wifi, reading library, an enormous daybed, etc (I could go on and on!). Getting there is half the fun! Local flights form Port Vila to Epi depart maybe twice a week, and offer stunning views of both islands from above before landing you on a lush green runway of Epi's "Airport"...you feel like a real adventurer! Whether you're traveling alone, as a couple, or in a group, Alix and Rob are a perfect mix of friendly, helpful, and respectful. You can visit the nearby Sara village for a taste of the local culture, swim in one of Epi's beautiful waterfalls, or simply waste away the day on the daybed or in their private cove or beach. An amazing truck ride can be arranged to visit neighboring villages, and to a very special beach where lucky swimmers might be able to swim with a local celebrity - a Manatee! All in all I've never been to a place like the Epi Island Guesthouse. The food is freshly picked and harvested from their own farm and gardens, and every piece of timber has been milled from local trees. It's truly ecotourism at it's finest. Do yourself a favor and book immediately!!!!

I have stayed at the Epi Guesthouse for a week. Of all places I have been to in Vanuatu and even the whole world this was the most special. Epi island is very beautiful! It is the most green island I have been to and It made me feel relaxt and safe from the moment the little plane landed. The guesthouse is like a little peace of heaven, the wooden house made me feel at home directly! I the daytimes, Rob and Alix took me out on a reef walk, snorkel trip (where I saw turtles, octopus and heaps of colorful fish), kayak trip (with dolphins!!) and a amazing hike through the bush, over hills and along the beach. In the evenings they took me down to there private beach where we had diners, wine and bonfires under the stars. Not only the guesthouse but also the company and good care of Rob and Alix made this pace special. Rob is a amazing, lovingly, creative man which build this house all by himself. Rob, thank you for all your wonderful conversations and all your tours and lessons in the gardens. Alix is an amazing host and cook who is spending most of the day in the kitchen, experimenting on amazing recipes and making the house smell like home. Thank you Alix for your kindness and all cooking lessons. I wish you lots of love and all the best. I hope more people get to experience this wonderful place.

This is my sixth trip back to Epi Island Guest House and each time is as wonderful as the first! The guest house is situated in the most beautiful garden setting, surrounded by coconut covered hills and you feel so relaxed from the minute you arrive. Very comfortable rooms and nothing is too much trouble for your hosts Alix & Rob. Having a private beach with not a soul around, there are big queen size day beds to lie in the shade or relax on a hammock when you are not snorkelling or swimming. The food is fantastic and there is always great conversation around the hand carved table. I would highly recommend a holiday here.

Time stands still! Great swimming and snorkelling, lots of comfortable places to relax, read a book, gaze at the horizon. Hospitality exceptional, amazing meals whipped up by Alix, mostly self-sufficient, so nice fresh food! Good company if you want it or leave you in peace if that is what you need.... Highly recommended! access to snorkelling equipment etc and good walks too.....

Rob & Alix have created a very special and ecologically responsible guesthouse on this remote, yet easily accessible island. This is the perfect place to experience true sustainability in a pristine environment established before eco-tourism became fashionable. So many things to see and do - beautiful white sand beaches, waterfalls, jungle treks, swimming with Dugongs at Lamen Bay. Enjoy freshly grown organic home produce prepared by Alix - with careful consideration given to dietary requirements. A wonderful place to enjoy warm hospitality and to truly interact with the natural surroundings and cultural experience of the island itself.

Of al the holidays, destination, hotels & resorts I've stayed or visited through out the world, this little slice of paradise is by far my favourite. It has everything you could ever ask for; superb snorkelling, waterfalls, quality accommodation, comfort, amazing hospitality- and don't get me started on the food! Families, couples and solo travellers alike will find there is more than enough to do- or not! After all- no tropical holiday is complete without some serious R&R. U will never regret visiting Rob & Alix and their beautiful home and like me, you will always want to return to Epi (I have three times!!!!)

We have been to the Epi Island Guesthouse about 4 times now and we can't wait to book our next trip back! Rob and Alix are the most gracious hosts, providing beautiful home cooked meals that are worthy of restaurant status and great entertainment with all of their amazing stories! The guesthouse itself is stunning, comfortable and a great place to relax. The rooms are more than comfortable and the bathrooms luxurious. There are hammocks and day beds for everyone and plenty of books. There is a beautiful bay out the front and a beach a 2 minute walk away, with gardens all over to give you the full tropical island experience. There are heaps of activities for you to do, if that is your thing. Snorkelling, kayaking, bush walks... or just lazing on the day beds. Everyday on Epi shows you an amazing sunset and lots of happiness. Rob and Alix are very resourceful, nothing goes to waste and everything has a purpose. I cannot recommend the Epi Island Guesthouse enough for anyone looking to experience the pureness of Vanuatu with a touch of luxury!

More of a homestay than a guest-house, we enjoyed 2 days of wonderful hospitality from Alix and Rob in their amazing home, built by Rob from mostly local materials. Great character; amazing cooking, 'effortlessly rustled up' by Alix using organic produce from their garden; the luxury of a nice bathroom and hot water after cold bucket showers; very entertaining conversations with Rob, and an interesting insight into the difficulties of obtaining supplies not available locally when the supply ship arrived. It's easy to sit/lie for hours on the daybeds on the expansive colourful verandah, listening to the sound of the sea a few metres away.

Our stay at the Epi Island Guest House was fantastic. Rooms were lovely and the food provided was really good. It was a beautiful area with a nice beach and there were tracks to go on walks nearby. The hosts did a great job and were enormously helpful and very friendly. It was a great atmosphere and I enjoyed the chance to get to know the other guests at mealtimes and on trips to other parts of the island that were organised by the hosts. Highly recommend!
