I stayed at Pine Lodge in Bulolo for 2 nights. The room in a bungalow was spacious and clean. There is air conditioning and a fan in the room as well as a separate bathroom. In front of the room there is a terrace with a view of the park. Everything is clean and tidy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Every wish will be fulfilled. There is a sufficient, good quality breakfast in the restaurant. The bungalows are located in a park-like area surrounded by lots of greenery. There is no WiFi in Pine Lodge. It is about a 3.5 hour drive to Lae on unpaved roads. I can only recommend the hotel.

This is a wonderful place. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the staff are warm and friendly, the gardens are beautiful (there’s a dam filled with water lilies and surrounded by trees) and the food is simple and delicious.
I stayed a week and highly recommend staying here to anyone wanting to explore the region. Or just to rest and relax. Truly lovely.

I stayed here for two nights in May 2010 doing survey work in the area. It's practically the only decent place to stay in the whole area. The accommodation is in 1930's - 1940's style (Art Deco) motel units with wide verandahs or traditional style round houses. Aesthetically quite pleasing. Cleanliness and beds are fine, and the rooms very spacious. If you have choice, choose a unit with a view of the pond / lake. Rates are about K260-K280 a night and so quite reasonable for PNG. The meals are pretty average and really pricey for what you get (e.g. K50 for a plate of rice and roast chicken) even by PNG standards. Better eating options at the Bowling or Golf club. No internet access, though

Stayed in Bulolo last night. The deluxe bungalow is 330 Kina and has 2 big beds and a nice terrace with table, chairs. Michael, the manager, is very friendly. The location is perfect, nice and quiet, not too hot, not cold. Its about a 2.5-3 hour drive from Lae; the landscape changes several times. Spectacular! The chef will prepare you lunch or dinner; when I was there that meant chicken and fries, rice, salad. All very nice.

We stayed in a cabin here on a trek further afield into the mountains. What a wonderful place. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable rooms. Good big and secure balcony overlooking the gardens. On site cafe/restaurant with good hearty home cooked food, and adjoining bar where we met a few locals who were happy to share their tales about Bulolo and their surrounding villages. Will certainly stay again.
