Stayed with a group of 32 and had a great stay. Rooms basic but comfortable, we had a mountain view room which was spacious. Always plenty of hot water for a bath or shower. There was a sewer odour in the corridor which I have often found in accommodation, but it was never in the bedroom. There is a warm swimming pool and steam room which were nice. The bar is great for après ski drinks or pre/post dinner get together. The food was excellent, some of the best food we have ever eaten on a ski holiday. A choice of starters, main course and then a buffet dessert. Perfectly cooked fish and meat were on the menu every night. Sometimes it was difficult to choose what you wanted as it was all delicious. Breakfast is a cold buffet, but you can cook your own boiled egg and toast. Nice fresh coffee served every day. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and hard working. There is a boot room or you can leave your skis in a locker by the gondola if you don’t fancy the walk up and down the hill. They coped amazingly with a large group all wanting to eat at the same time. Definitely a good find and we will certainly be back. Can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

What an absolute great find, the hotel plain sud is just what we needed after our stay near to Briancon last year. Run by Lynne, the front of house team seems to be mainly British staff who have all ended up here and for us this made our stay even more brilliant as it meant they could relate to anything we needed (unlike some places you stay as a Brit). Special mention goes out to Lucy who was brilliant and was always on hand to sort drinks etc as was Tracey and Estelle who only started working there during our stay. Good luck Estelle we're sure you'll love it there. With the impact of Covid and the fact that the Hotel had only just opened again Lynne was waiting for some supplies to still filter through and this meant that the menu was small, however there was enough on it for us to have some different everyday and the quality of food and presentation by Stu (the chef) was excellent, big thank you to Stu as by the end of our stay even made a special crumble and french custard, they guys a legend. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the village and this makes it ideal if you want to have a walk about or head across the road and take the cable car upto the top of one of the many mountains. The rooms were clean, neat and comfortable with everything you need although the baths are short so if you are over 6ft you'll struggle to lay out ( ask Babee Gee) and the shower heads are low, other than that it was perfect for us

We are a small group of less than young guys who have skied together for years. Despite the above title this year we went in March. The hotel is close to the main lift about 6-7 minutes walk away (9-10 when returning at the end of the day). The rooms are typical of a French ski resort, a bit small but clean, well appointed and lots of hot water for showers at the end of the day. The bar area is delightful, a good stopping off point between the boot room and bedrooms. The food is really excellent, both at breakfast and especially at dinner in the evening. The staff are superb, friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. Thanks for a great holiday Seb

Just back from a very enjoyable large group stay at this hotel. The hotel is excellently located for the lifts, the short walk to the lifts was doable in ski boots but we hired lockers from a ski shop for €15 each for the week. The rooms in the hotel were clean and compact, with a fridge and safe plus bath robes, hot showers and the rooms was cleaned once in the week, which was adequate. We were on the ground floor behind the bar area and it was surprisingly quiet. I would recommend this hotel for a weeks skiing, the food was excellent, they managed to serve all 31 of us in super quick time with a choice on the evening rather than have to pick what you want to eat in the morning, which is what normally happens with a large group. We did eat a bit late for me but given our group noise levels I completely understand why. Others used the pool and said it was refreshing. You can always be mega fussy and pick holes in any stay in any hotel but nothing I would even bother mentioning here. Finally a big thank you to the chef who baked me a fabulous chocolate cake for my birthday.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review we always appreciate this. Happy that you enjoyed your stay with your group of 31. The rooms on bar level are on the middle floor (2nd). The pool is heated to 27.2c which is a good temperature and safe for bacteria levels..

Such a brilliant place to stay. The rooms are basic but good and kept very clean. The staff are brilliant, each of them put in an effort to make us feel welcome. They had good recommendations when we asked about seeing Briançon and even spoke to us about the slopes. The food is phenomenal, we have thoroughly enjoyed every single meal we have had and the bar has a very homely feeling, it makes aprés-ski drinks very relaxing. The hotel is well situated, the main ski lifts and little town center being just a few minutes walk away across the road. We would definitely recommend coming to stay.

My son and I stayed at the Plein Sud for a week in mid March and were really pleased that we chose this hotel.

The hotel is an easy 5 minute stroll to the gondola and ski repository which we used for the week, and provides excellent access to the Serre Chevalier ski area.

The room we had was fairly spacious with a south facing balcony which gave excellent views of the mountains, piste, gondola and chairlift yet still maintained privacy.

There was enough storage space for all of our clothing (we do bring more than we need!) and the beds were quite comfortable, with additional pillows in the room.

The bathroom was okay with a small(ish) bath and overhead shower which provided plenty of hot water under good pressure. A nice touch were the dressing gowns which came in very handy!

The room was kept very clean and tidy every day by the staff.

The food was excellent!

The buffet breakfast had a good choice of pastries, cold meats and cheeses, fruit, cereals, tea and coffee etc.

Dinner was 3 courses with options for starters and mains, and a dessert buffet. The quality and presentation of the food was really impressive and we enjoyed every meal we had.

The staff were all friendly and helpful, making our stay a very enjoyable experience.

As a keen skier for over 45 years I have stayed in many hotels around the world and would have no hesitation in recommending the Plein Sud to anyone and we would definitely choose this hotel if we come back to Serre Chevalier.

The Plein Sud is a great ski hotel, we all loved it! Only a few minutes walk to the ski lifts, we left our skis and boots at the hire shop at the bottom of the slopes to make things even easier. Bedrooms were simply furnished but very comfortable and clean. There was always loads of hot water. The food was a highlight! A good continental style buffet at breakfast and a set menu in the evening. There were 3 choices for both starter and mains and always included a veggie and fish option. Every meal was beautifully presented and delicious. For dessert there was a lovely buffet selection with favourites such as lemon meringue pie and cheesecake. The hotel staff were delightful and enthusiastic. Thanks for a lovely stay.

No frills but nice spacious rooms with balconies over looking ski slopes. Run by an English lady and her son. All staff were friendly and helpful. Food was some of the best we have had when skiing, especially the vegetarian options. No big fry up breakfasts (not my thing anyway) but very good selections of cereals, fruits, yogurts and eggs etc. Nice cosy bar with ridiculous priced G&T but nice beers and the good selection of wines were a decent price too. The whole experience was very easy and nice to be able to get single rooms at a reasonable cost unlike some hotels. Short walk to bubble lift and we left our gear at Ski Set - who were also fantastic - so we didn't have to cart it up and down.

Hotel Plein Sud

Hotel Plein Sud is a family run hotel and everyone is extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Lynne and her team made us feel completely at home and we particularly enjoyed relaxing in the garden around the pool. The hotel has a great chef and all the meals were delicious; the hotel was happy to provide tasty vegan dishes, specially prepared for our two daughters. We had a very enjoyable week and can thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Went to Hotel Plein Sud with my 18y old son for a short ski. Enjoyed our stay very much. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was fully booked and restaurant was a bit noisy at some times with people chatting. But the quality of the food surely made up for that! We had a nice room with more than enough space. A bit of renovation might be due but the room was very tidy and the cleaning staff did a wonderful job. Car could be parked just in front of the hotel which was very handy and the hotel is located within walking distance from the ski lift. We had a really good stay and enjoyed it a lot. Compliments to the staff!

Thank you for your enquiry. We do not recommend our triple rooms for 3 adults. These are more suitable for a couple with a child, 3 children or 1 adult & 2 children. However we can do a twin and a single without any problems. What time of year are you looking at? You can email me direct for more information & prices. We have some discounts on our website at the moment. Look forward to hearing from you
