We came to Chantemerle for the first time skiing and chose the Boule de Neige due to proximity to the ski lifts and it being in the centre of the village. How lucky we were. It was a charming hotel run by a very nice and helpful lady and her team. It was very clean, the rooms pleasant with a good bathroom and the meals simple but very enjoyable. We would definitely go back there and would recommend it to others wishing to stay at this pleasant little resort.

Very convenient - right in the town (village really) close to the main ski lift. Shopping nearby.
Great food - including gluten-free. Couldn't have been more considerate.
Lovely owner - and a wonderful friendly dog - Bella - to greet everyone!

I know Serre Chevalier well and wanted to introduce a friend to it's ski area and villages so needed a simple hotel with comfortable rooms, friendly atmosphere and well positioned.
It provided all this for a reasonable cost.
We ate breakfast in which was simple but ok with my need for decent coffee (filtered) satisfied.
As we spent few waking hours in the hotel it was all that we needed.

We stayed here for a few days this year, and few days last year as well but I forgot to leave a review. We like it here because you feel at home, the food are homemade, the rooms good enough not too big but not too small. People are very nice too even our fellow customers. Restaurants are just nearby and ski rentals too, and even the cable car. honestly everything here is accessable.Hoping to see you next year again Boule de Neige.

We arrived in mid morning and were able to check into our room. It was quite large and comfortable. The wi-fi was a bit patchy and seemed to drop out at busy times. The food was good though there was little choice on the demi-pension menu. Breakfasts were also good. The hotel was very close to the pistes and ski lockers were provided. The only downside was the hot water which could have been hotter.

We were there in summer, but I can see this hotel being very convenient to the ski slopes in winter. The woman who runs the hotel was quite friendly and helpful. The room size was adequate for a one night stay. Might get a little tight for a longer visit. Our room had bunk beds for the kids which was nice. There's a convenient little garden out back to have a drink. There are a few nice little shops, restaurants etc. within walking distance. Breakfast was 10E each which seemed a bit steep so we skipped it. The hotel worked well for us passing through.

Last week I stayed at this hotel for a cycling trip.
Great location in old Chantemerle village with a parking 20 m from the hotel.
Chantemerle is ideally located in this region a few kilometers from Briancon to attack to cols in the region. For skiers, the ski piste Luc Alphand is about a 300 meters from the hotel.
Outside noise is hardly noticable beause there is a one way street in front of the hotel with little traffic. It's an old building ,but nicely renovated.
For me as a cyclist,at the back of the hotel is a room to place the bike.
Room was comfortable and the bathroom was OK.
Dinner was good and breakfast was OK,For cyclists breakfast could be a bit more.
Eugenie is very helpfull, and a nice personality.
When I had trouble with my car she offered to give me a lift, but it was not neccesary.
I recommend this hotel at any time!

Recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Chantemerle. We had four adults on our trip and stayed in the top floor apartment which was perfect. The views were amazing, the wood fireplace and sitting area were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The hotel is a short walk to the slopes and provides a great breakfast and dinner each night upon request. The manager, Eugenie, was wonderful, speaks good English and will help with anything to make your stay more enjoyable. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to be back again!

Room Tip: The top floor apartment has great views and a nice sitting area. It would be tight for six adults.

Great location in the charming village of Chantemerle in Saint Chaffrey. It's just a short walk to ride the gondola to access the Serre Chevalier ski area. Close to the village church. There is a free underground car park down the other end of the street - watch out for one way signs if you are driving. The door chime sets the tone - very welcoming. After a day on the slopes have a pastis in the bar, pat the friendly dog or build a fire. A satisfying breakfast is available on request. Hope to return next season. Mark Faragher
